Abstract: A tandem system of metering and donor rolls is used to apply two different adhesives to a fully adhesive backed multilayer sheet to produce variably distributed adhesives and properties. Each of the two adhesives is unique and is cured differently to create a layer of adhesive that has differing adhesive properties on the sheet. A clear adhesive is applied to a top portion of cards before they are cut from the sheet and has a higher tackiness than the adhesive applied to the rest of the cards on the sheet in order to reduce glue buildup on blades cutting the cards from the sheet.

Abstract: Medical devices and methods for determining the size of blood vessels are disclosed. In one implementation, a blood vessel sizing device is configured for placement on an area of skin of a patient. The device includes a plurality of radiopaque concentric-circle elements. In one implementation, a blood vessel sizing method includes placing a marker having a plurality of concentric-circle elements on the skin of a patient, imaging a blood vessel of the patient and the device, and comparing the imaged blood vessel to the imaged circles to determine the blood vessel size, the concentric-circle elements allowing a determination of size without errors of parallax.

Abstract: A self-laminating rotating cable marker label is constructed of a transparent film having a first adhesive area, an adhesive-free smooth area, and a second adhesive area. A print-on area forms one side of the transparent film, the print-on area adapted to receive indicia identifying the cable about which the marker label is applied. A perforation extends across the transparent film providing a line of separation of the transparent film. When wrapped around a cable, the second adhesive area overlies the print-on area such that the cable identifying indicia is visible through the transparent second adhesive area. As the transparent film is wrapped around the cable, the first adhesive area adheres to the cable. The remainder of the transparent film is rotated, breaking the perforation, whereby the smooth area of the film in contact with the cable provides smooth rotation of the label around the cable.

Abstract: A continuous series of printable wristbands formed out of an elongate flexible material. A plurality of liner pieces are longitudinally spaced on the undersurface of the elongate flexible material and a plurality of discontinuities are longitudinally spaced on the elongate flexible material to correspond with the plurality of liner pieces. The plurality of discontinuities define a plurality of wristband pieces. The plurality of wristband pieces are detachable from each other at the discontinuities.

Abstract: The opening/closing device for a disposable flexible container includes a base sheet (1) having a first layer (1a) with a lower surface covered by a first adhesive (3), a second layer (1b) attached on the first layer (1a) by a second adhesive (8a), and contour cuts (5) defining an opening/closing flap (2) connected to the rest of the base sheet (1) by a fold line (6) that has aligned discontinuous cuts affecting both the first and second layers (1a, 1b) and the first and second adhesives (3, 8a). Abstract: A form having one or more blank detachable wristbands may include a printable face ply capable of accepting printed indicia and a liner ply where the face ply is die cut to form one or more blank detachable wristbands having first and second ends. The printable face ply may be sufficiently soft at hand to remain attached for several days without causing chaffing. The face ply may be adhered to the liner ply by a pressure sensitive adhesive on at least a portion a bottom surface. The pressure sensitive adhesive may be on the face ply around a periphery of one or more wristbands. Means to secure the wristband to the wrist of a patient may be located adjacent the first and second ends of the wristband and each of said first and second ends of each of the wristbands may include tamper evident indicia.

Abstract: A vehicle identification card having a multi-segmental sheet is disclosed. The sheet includes a first, second, and third segment having the same vehicle identification number thereon. The first segment has a front and back side. The back side of the first segment includes a layer of adhesive material and a removable liner covering the adhesive. The second segment has a removable key tag and a vehicle identification claim ticket. The key tag has an elongated tail with a first slit extending along a longitudinal dimension of the tail and a body for inclusion of vehicle identification information. The third segment is positioned between the first segment and the second segment and includes an upper portion and a lower portion with an opening therebetween. The upper portion and the lower portion are joined by a securing strip.

After the sticker body is completely removed from the backing layer and is applied for sticking on an object surface, the sticker body becomes a self-destructive layer by the security arrangement to be torn apart at the time when the sticker body is removed from the object surface so as to ensure the sticker body being unable to be removed completely from the object surface.

Abstract: A linerless duplex label system is operable to print and apply a linerless duplex label to a substrate. A plurality of linerless duplex labels are provided and each label includes a single-ply stock with top and bottom faces. The label also includes an endless adhesive border applied to the bottom face. The adhesive border is an unactivated, selectively activatable adhesive, such labels are overlaid on one another without any substantial adhesion therebetween. Each label may essentially be freely removed from the others, and the adhesive may thereafter be activated so that the label can be adhesively applied to the substrate.

Abstract: An identification label for a cylindrical vessel has a first label portion with an underside coated with adhesive, an opaque second label portion with a non-adhesive underside and a transparent third label portion with an underside coated with adhesive. The transition from a first outside edge of the first label portion and a second outside edge of the third label portion has a rounded line profile.

Abstract: A self-laminating assembly for providing information, such as emergency medical or contact information, or a temporary identification card, for general purposes. Medical data or contact information is entered on a card which is predisposed within the assembly. The card can then be covered with a transparent plastic sheet and folded in half, along a perforation in its center to permanently seal the card within the transparent plastic enclosure.

The releasable portion is spaced from the affixed portion. Preferably, the liner assembly further includes a release layer (e.g., comprising silicone) on the releasable portion and not on the affixed portion. In one embodiment, the release layer includes an edge between the releasable portion and the affixed portion, and bonding agent is spaced from the edge. In another embodiment, the liner includes a perforated portion between the affixed portion and the releasable portion (e.g., substantially at an edge between the releasable portion and the affixed portion).

Abstract: A group of size-adjustable wristbands is disclosed. The group of wristbands includes a backing sheet that is connected to a stub area disposed at an end of the backing sheet. A plurality of elongated strips is connected to the stub area in a side-by-side fashion. Each strip includes a first end attached to an additional stub area and a second end attached to the stub area. Each strip further includes a top surface. The group of wristbands further includes a plurality of top sheets, each top sheet having a first end and a second end. The first end of each top sheet is attached to one of the strips along a top surface thereof. Each top sheet is clear and includes a bottom side coated with a top adhesive layer. Finally, the group of wristbands includes a plurality of top liners with each top liner being sandwiched between one of the top adhesive layers and one of the strips.

An example labels includes a substrate, a layer of adhesive on the substrate, a layer of release coating in contact with the layer of adhesive, and a release line in contact with the release coating. The release liner includes a first edge, a second edge, and a first line of weakness. The first line of weakness includes a tapered or curved portion and extends from the first edge of the release liner to between the first edge and the second edge of the release liner.

Abstract: A resealable label flap is positionable to cover an opening in a package containing removable articles. The label flap includes a base layer extending between a first and a second end. The base layer includes a first adhesive on a bottom face surface and permits repeated application and separation of the base layer relative to the package. The base layer has a starting tab to permit removal of the base layer from the package. A top layer includes a second adhesive on a bottom face surface that fixes the top layer to a top face surface of the base layer. The base layer and the first adhesive are formed with a slit that defines a hinge for enhancing separation of the base and top layers from the package upon manipulation of the starting tab.

Abstract: A method for processing a separation and rupture portion of a display label is a method for forming, on the display label attached to an attachment target object, the separation and rupture portion for rupturing the display label upon separation of the display label from the attachment target object. Abstract: A mounting assembly is provided for securing objects to a substrate in a manner that permits the objects to be removed from the mounting assembly and from the substrate. The mounting assembly includes a planar sheet-like holder with opposite front and rear faces. A repositionable adhesive is applied across the entire rear face of the holder, and the holder is removably disposed on a release liner. A generally U-shaped cut is formed in the holder to define a flap. The flap can be repositionably attached to the object, while remaining portions of the holder can be repositionably secured to a substrate.

Abstract: A method of advertising comprising providing a sheet of advertising material having a front surface, front surface having advertising information thereon. The method also includes providing a sporting helmet having a head accepting portion and a facemask and connecting the sheet of advertising material to the sporting helmet such that at least a portion of the sheet of advertising material covers the facemask. The method could alternatively include providing headwear comprising a head accepting portion and applying the sheet of advertising material having adhesive on less then the entire rear surface thereof to the headwear. In another alternative, the method could include providing a vehicle having a rear bumper and applying the sheet of advertising material having adhesive on less then the entire rear surface thereof to the vehicle.

The pre-approved incentive card has indicia printed on its outer side. An outer layer is provided covering at least a portion of the pre-approved incentive card. The outer layer may reproduce indicia on a product package obscured by the label and incentive item. The outer layer may have indicia imprinted on its outer side or inner side, for use as a coupon or other valuable purchasing incentive.

Abstract: A label assembly comprises a support sheet of a paper material defining opposite surfaces, an adhesive coating applied to one side of the support sheet, and a printing paper defining opposite front and rear surfaces. The rear surface of the printing paper is releasably fixed to the support sheet in facial contact therewith through the adhesive coating and the printing paper is divided into individual paper labels or paper tags which are individually removable from the support sheet. The label assembly constitutes a label assembly which is readily printable in a laser jet or any similar printing machine such as an ink jet printer or a typewriter which label system consequently rendering it possible to provide a printing on a specific label for identifying a lever arch file or ring binder by means of the label assembly.

Abstract: A flat sheet of paper, or other thin flexible material, has information printed on one side in the form of a plurality of discrete panels or areas of text or images, while the entire other side is taken up by a large-scale, poster-like pattern. The panels or areas of text or images, are defined by crease lines created by folding the sheet of material. These creases are formed using a perpendicular fold method described in detail in this application. Each fold is perpendicular to the previous fold, creating a grid-like pattern, with each panel in the grid pattern containing a discrete quantity of text or images. When the invention is at its most folded state it has a relatively compact size. As the invention is unfolded, the panels of text or images are revealed in a specific sequence in order to tell a story or communicate some other type of sequentially ordered information.

Abstract: A tamper-evident label suitable for placement onto a container and cap assembly. The label may be characterized as a planar sheet having a tear strip that divides upper and lower panels. The lower panel of the label attaches to the container, while the upper panel, defined by at least one tab, and preferably two tabs, is attached to the cap. To open the container and cap assembly, the tear strip is pulled across the label to separate the two panels of the label. Thereafter, the cap may be removed from the container to reveal the contents of the container.

Abstract: A discreet removable chronological group indicator tab placed on a product at a predetermined depletion level. The tab appears on the product to notify the consumer the product needs replacement before its actual depletion. The tab has indicia that states the exact number of product left. Once the tab appears, the tab is then intended to be removed from the product and attached to the side of the product dispenser as a noticeable reminder, placed in a wallet, or on a shopping list. The indicator tab bears the name or image of the product. The tab has a removable coupon with a UPC bar code attached to it that will encourage the consumer to replace the exact same product. This device enables a consumer to readily determine the exact type of product needing replenishment with the convenience of replacement before its actual depletion.

Abstract: A mailing assembly for use in connection with non-domestic delivery of a mailpiece wherein the sender of the mailpiece is required to complete a sender's declaration. The assembly includes a mailing form that may be sub-divided into customs declarations forms, a dispatch notice and a backing sheet. The backing sheet may be peeled off the mailing form exposing adhesive on the backing sheet. The backing sheet may be folded in such a way as to provide an envelope to adhere to the mailpiece to be non-domestically delivered. The customs declarations forms and, dispatch notice may then be inserted into the envelope whereupon the mailpiece may be non-domestically delivered. The customs declaration forms and dispatch notice of the mailing form may be variably printed with information to aid in the non-domestic delivery of the mailpiece.

Abstract: An optical disc label including a label substrate, a writeable material, and an adhesive. The label substrate is ring-shaped, defines a front side and a back side, and includes a base layer and a phosphorescent material. The phosphorescent material is applied to the base layer and is capable of emitting absorbed energy as light. The writeable material is applied to the front side of the label substrate, and is configured to provide an indicia-receiving surface. The adhesive is applied to the back side of the label substrate. By forming the label as a ring, it can be applied to an optical disc in a manner that maintains necessary radial and/or circumferential balancing. Further, the phosphorescent material imparts a unique glow-in-the-dark property. In one preferred embodiment, the writeable material is configured to receive and maintain an inkjet printer-generated indicia.

Abstract: Gift card forms and methods of making and using gift card forms are disclosed. The gift card form permits uniquely messaging each gift card. An appropriate gift card form can be printed at a time after manufacturing to allow a vendor to personalize the gift card. Additionally, order information, such as billing information, can be printed on the gift card form at the same time that the gift card is personalized. The gift card form can be kept as a record with the order information.

Abstract: A tube container with an integral panel for carrying a label includes a tube container having a product dispensing end, an intermediate sealing portion, and a filling end opposite the product dispensing end. The sealing portion is capable of being sealed subsequent to filling the tube container with a selected product. A label panel is provided in proximity to the sealing portion, with the label panel being integrally formed from material forming the tube container between the sealing portion and the filling end. An expanded content label may then be secured to the label panel.

Abstract: Vehicle identification number (VIN) data acquisition and stamping center control, wherein a main computer supplies VIN data to a PLC disposed at the stamping center, and the PLC stores a quantity of VIN data, up to a predetermined maximum, in an input buffer memory of the PLC in order to permit the stamping center to continue operating even when the network connection with the main computer is broken. The PLC also includes an output buffer memory in which stamped VINs may be stored until the network connection is restored, at which point the stamped VINs are transmitted to the main computer. Alternative semi-automatic and manual modes of operation permit the stamping center to continue operating even when the supply of VIN data from the input buffer memory is exhausted.

Abstract: An optical disc label including a label substrate, a writeable material, and an adhesive. The label substrate is ring-shaped, defines a front side and a back side, and includes a base layer and a phosphorescent material. The phosphorescent material is applied to the base layer and is capable of emitting absorbed energy as light. The writeable material is applied to the front side of the label substrate, and is configured to provide an indicia-receiving surface. The adhesive is applied to the back side of the label substrate. By forming the label as a ring, it can be applied to an optical disc in a manner that maintains necessary radial and/or circumferential balancing. Further, the phosphorescent material imparts a unique glow-in-the-dark property. In one preferred embodiment, the writeable material is configured to receive and maintain an inkjet printer-generated indicia.

Abstract: An index print of photographic images is created on a CD containing digital data representing those images. Photographic images are digitized to produce digital image data which is stored on the CD. This digital image data is also used to create an index print containing thumbnail images of all of the photographs stored on the CD. The index print is then affixed to the top surface of the CD either by being printed on a label that is adhered to the disk surface, or by being printed directly on the surface of the disk.

Major food and non-food category listings are provided on the shopping list sheet, as well as blank lines for listing individual items, sizes, brands, and the like. Coupon reminders are also located proximate to each blank line. A bottom tacky strip is located across the bottom edge of the shopping list sheet, and two side tacky strips are located at opposing side edges of shopping list sheet. To convert the shopping list sheet into an integrated shopping list and coupon folder, the completed shopping list sheet is peeled from a pad of such sheets and folded along a central fold line, such that the bottom tacky strip seals against itself and the side tacky strips seal against each other. The integrated shopping list and coupon folder is thus formed.
