Abstract: Fluidic conduits, which can be used in microarraying systems, dip pen nanolithography systems, fluidic circuits, and microfluidic systems, are disclosed that use channel spring probes that include at least one capillary channel. Formed from spring beams (e.g., stressy metal beams) that curve away from the substrate when released, channels can either be integrated into the spring beams or formed on the spring beams. Capillary forces produced by the narrow channels allow liquid to be gathered, held, and dispensed by the channel spring probes. Because the channel spring beams can be produced using conventional semiconductor processes, significant design flexibility and cost efficiencies can be achieved.

Abstract: An ink-jet printing apparatus and an ink-jet printing method are provided which can improve a quick-drying performance of an ink containing an ultraviolet curing agent while at the same time preventing harm done by ink mist. When the printing head ejects ink containing the ultraviolet curing agent from the ink ejection portions as it moves, the ultraviolet radiation unit provided in front of the printing head with respect to the printing head moving direction radiates the ultraviolet light onto the ink adhering to the printing medium.
Abstract: A printer including a printing head for performing printing while moving over a printing medium, a gap roller capable of rolling along a direction of moving of the printing head, and a platen bar placed so as to face the printing head and the gap roller. The printer further includes a controller for controlling a pressing force of the platen bar applied to the gap roller according to a printing end position of the printing head on the printing medium.
