Abstract: A rolled sheet is accommodated in an accommodating section. A cover is movable between an open position for opening the accommodating section and a closed position for covering the accommodating section. A part of the rolled sheet fed from the accommodating section is transported through the transporting path. A print head is disposed in a first side relative to the transporting path and operable to perform printing on the part of the rolled sheet in the transporting path. A cutter is disposed in the first side and movable between an operable position at which the cutter is operable to cut the part of the rolled sheet and a covered position at which the cutter is not operable to cut the part of the rolled sheet. The cutter is moved to the operable position when the cover is moved from the open position to the closed position, and is moved to the covered position when the cover is moved from the closed position to the open position. A cutter cover covers the cutter in the covered position.

Abstract: Disclosed is a printer including a paper feeder for accommodating a rolled paper to be pulled out and recorded thereon. The feeder has a container section to set the roll, in which first and second support walls are arranged to rotatably support the roll. While paper from the roil is taken out, a contact force produced by the roll against the first support wall is kept larger than that in a stationary state, and a contact force produced by the roll against second support wall is kept smaller than that in the stationary state. A friction coefficient between the second support wall and the roll is larger than one between first support wall and the roll, the roll being in slidable contact with the first and second support walls. Therefore, when the recording is started, an impact force to the roll can be alleviated, resulting in reducing unevenness in image in a feeding direction of the paper.

The method comprising, establishing a length of paper available (PA) estimate during loading of paper into a point of sale printer and tracking a length of paper used (PU). The method further comprising, continuously updating the PA by subtracting the PU from the PA, and alerting an operator to replenish paper in the printer in response to the PA being less than a desired length of paper wasted (DPW). Additionally, the method updates the new roll paper available (NRPA) to ensure that the difference between actual paper wasted (APW) and the desired length of paper wasted (DPW) is minimal.

Abstract: A recording device has a recording unit that records on a recording medium, a transportation unit that conveys and discharges from an discharge opening the recording medium recorded by the recording unit, a cutting unit that cuts the recording medium recorded by the recording unit at a predetermined position on the transportation path of the transportation unit, and a control unit that causes a ticket to be output by causing the recording unit to record on the recording medium while causing the transportation unit to convey the recording medium only a specified ticket length and causing the cutting unit to cut. When a next ticket is not output after a ticket is output, the control unit causes the output ticket to be recorded and conveyed the specified ticket length, advanced a preset additional transportation distance, and then cut by the cutting unit.

Abstract: There is provided a paper width detection apparatus including a plurality of lever members lined in parallel in a paper width direction of a recording paper roll, each lever member being rotatably arranged on a same center axis, a detecting unit for detecting a rotation state of the lever member, and a determination unit for determining a paper width of the recording paper roll based on a detection result. One lever member of the plurality of lever members rotates in a first rotating direction about the center axis by contacting an outer peripheral part of a holding unit for holding both ends of the recording paper roll, and another lever member positioned on an inner side in the paper width direction facing the recording paper roll than the lever member contacting the holding unit rotates in conjunction with the lever member contacting the outer peripheral part of the holding unit.

Abstract: An in-line automated system for generating business forms. A spool of paper is unwound and fed into a tinter. A water-based tint is applied to the continuous stream of paper and then fed into a digital printer. The digital printer prints continuous streams of business forms onto the continuous stream of paper. The printer may print seven individual streams of product across the width of the paper. Shipping documentation may be printed concurrently with the printing of the product. After printing, the paper is fed into a binder delivery unit to cut and group the individual business forms into batches for shipment. The continuous sheet of paper may travel through the process at speeds of at least 100 feet per minute. The print job orders may be received via an online interface.

Abstract: Provided is a printer with a cutter, which can easily restore, even when there arises a problem that a movable blade is stopped during sliding due to paper jam or the like, the movable blade to a state before the problem arises, reliably perform positioning between a movable blade frame and a detachable unit, and improve printing accuracy and cutting accuracy. A detachable unit (4) turns in a sliding direction of a movable blade (32) from a mounted position to a dismounted position. Meanwhile, a movable blade frame (33) turns in a direction orthogonal to the sliding direction of the movable blade (32) from a home position to a separated position. Thus, the both blades (32 and 11) retreat in directions orthogonal to each other, respectively.

Abstract: There is disclosed a tag making and stacking system, tag stackers and stack trays. To increase tag making capacity, a wide tag web is slit into completely severed narrow tag webs which are cut apart to form tags which are immediately separated and formed into spaced apart stacks. The new system includes a printer and a stacking system to receive and stack tags. The stacking system includes a tag stacker and a removable tag-receiving tray to facilitate transferring a stack of tags from the tag stacker to the place where the tags are to be used. A method of handling tags involves the provision of at least first and second removable trays wherein a first tray with a stack of tags can be replaced by an empty second tray so that the stacking of additional tags can recommence without waiting for the first tray to be emptied.
