  • Patent number: 8029202
Abstract: A printer, which prints by repeatedly reciprocating a rolled recording paper and ejects a printed recording paper, has therein a recording paper storage unit in which the recording paper is temporarily stored. The recording paper storage unit has a configuration formed by at least a part of the periphery of the rolled recording paper or a configuration provided in a space between the rolled paper holder and an ejection slot. This configuration eliminates the need for separately providing a configuration in which a recording paper is set aside when printing a long sheet of printed material and, at the same time, makes the printer smaller.

  • Patent number: 7993065
Abstract: A printer is disclosed having a media unit which can move relative to a printing unit. Until now, difficulties in aligning the media unit in the printer always resulted in a poor printing quality. To rectify this, the disclosed printer provides that the printing unit is designed so that it can move inside the housing, and elements are provided for aligning the printing unit with the media unit so that the printing unit and the media unit can be aligned with one another when the media unit is pushed in the direction of insertion. A resilient element enables the printing unit to be advantageously tensioned, in a manner that equalizes tolerances, against the support of the media unit in an operating position. This enables an advantageous equalization of work tolerances and positional tolerances, and the position of the print head relative to the medium to be printed.

At the time of a shift from a second state where the cover body is opened with respect to the main body to a first state where the cover body covers the main body, the first locating mechanism locates a first platen roller of the cover body with respect to a first thermal head of the main body, and arranges a second thermal head of the cover body in the vicinity of a second platen roller of the main body. The second locating mechanism locates the second thermal head arranged in the vicinity of the second platen roller by the first locating mechanism with respect to the second platen roller of the main body.

  • Patent number: 7811018
Abstract: A door opening or closing detecting device and an image forming apparatus including a shaft member which is provided to a housing slidably along one end of a door, and urged to be brought into pressure contact with a pressing member through a pressure contact member, the shaft member being slid by the pressing member which moves with the opening/closing of the door. The opening/closing of the door is detected by a detecting portion according to sliding of the shaft member, and a power supply is interrupted by a switch portion. The door opening or closing detecting apparatus and the image forming apparatus are capable of reliably detecting the opening/closing of the door and appropriately interrupting the power supply while achieving space saving and reduction in size of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7806609
Abstract: A roll paper printer having a cover movable between an open and closed position with the printer having hooks on locking levers disposed to the cover to hold the cover in the locked position upon engaging pins located on the printer body side and having an opening lever to unlock the cover. The printer also includes a paper cutter device having a stationary knife which is attached to the cover and contact plate parts which extend from the stationary knife for contacting the front panel part on the printer body and having extension springs disposed in tension for pulling the stationary knife towards the back of the printer such that upon closing the cover the contact plate parts push the cover to the front of the printer. This causes the hooks of the locking levers to press from the back against the engagement pins to eliminate any play in the cover when in cover is in the locked position and to assist in opening the cover when the cover opening lever is operated.

  • Patent number: 7802750
Abstract: A rolled sheet support mechanism has two spaced-apart guide plates for accommodating therebetween a rolled sheet. A displacement member carries a pair of opposed, axially slidable bobbins and pivots between an attachment position wherein the rolled sheet can be inserted between and held by the bobbins and an accommodation position wherein the rolled sheet is ready for use. A pair of biasing members compressed between the guide plates and bobbins elastically press the bobbins to the rolled sheet. The spacing between the guide plates is larger in the region of the attachment position than in the region of the accommodation position so that when the displacement member pivots from the attachment position to the accommodation position, the biasing members slide along the guide plates and further compress to increase the force at which the bobbins press against the rolled sheet.
