Piston In Cylinder Patents (Class 401/150)
  • Patent number: 4171171
Abstract: A long-handled dispenser device for applying lotion or other liquid material to parts of the body. The device consists of a long arcuately curved tubular handle employed as a reservoir for the material, with a screw plug at its free end. The handle is attached to a head member having a large applicating sponge. The head member has a plunger-operated suction pump connected to rigid inlet tubing extending through the handle to its free end region. The pump has a discharge spout directed into the sponge. A snap-on detachable cover tray is provided on the head member, serving as a lotion-collecting receptacle to receive lotion from the pump when the pump is actuated, to form a shallow pool to moisten the bottom portion of the sponge. For applying the lotion, the tray is detached from the head member. Subsequently the sponge may be dipped into the tray for remoistening.

  • Patent number: 4068974
Abstract: A fountain toothbrush is described which comprises a bristle carrier having bristles, a handle containing a reservoir for liquid or pasty dentifrice, a duct leading from the reservoir to the bristles, and actuating means which urge the reservoir in a direction out of the handle. A piston has a passage connected to the duct and to the interior of the reservoir and a cylinder sleeve part is provided on the reservoir into which the piston protrudes. When the piston is pushed into the sleeve part towards the reservoir, dentifrice is conveyed onto the bristles.

  • Patent number: 4053901
Abstract: A pump mechanism for pumping ink or similar writing fluid from a fluid reservoir to a writing device. A piston is moved in a cylinder in one direction to draw ink into the cylinder from a reservoir through a capillary tube, and is moved in an opposite direction to discharge the ink to a writing device while at the same time, in cooperation with a flexible membrane located in the cylinder and connected to the piston, to discharge any air in the capillary tube back into the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4053902
Abstract: A pump mechanism for delivering ink or the like writing fluid from a reservoir to a point of utilization such as a writing device. The mechanism includes a piston slidable in a cylinder for drawing ink into the cylinder during a suction stroke and discharging the ink during a pumping stroke. The cylinder is formed by a cylinder wall which includes a frusto-conical portion tapered inwardly in a direction away from the piston. The piston comprises a single plastic member having a forward end portion which faces and cooperates with the tapered portion of the cylinder wall and which has an outside diameter which is greater than the smallest diameter of the tapered cylinder wall portion, whereby the forward end portion of the piston engages the tapered cylinder wall portion as the piston moves forward during a pumping stroke.
