Patent number: 11160360Abstract: An oral care implement that delivers a fluid from a reservoir to an applicator by capillary action. The oral care implement may include a head and a handle, the head having tooth cleaning elements extending therefrom. There may also be a reservoir storing a fluid and an applicator on the head. Finally, a delivery member may extend from the reservoir to the applicator. The delivery member may include a capillary tube that draws the fluid from the reservoir to the applicator by capillary action.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 2018Date of Patent: November 2, 2021Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive CompanyInventors: John Gatzemeyer, Thomas Boyd, Eduardo Jimenez, Bruce Russell

Patent number: 10092086Abstract: An oral care implement has a head portion with tooth cleaning elements on a front surface thereof and a reservoir containing a fluid. A delivery member extends through at least a portion of the oral care implement to deliver the fluid from the reservoir to an applicator that may be positioned on the rear surface of the head. In one aspect, the applicator and the delivery member may be separate components that are fluidly coupled to one another. The applicator and the delivery member may both be formed of a capillary material.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2015Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive CompanyInventors: John J. Gatzemeyer, Thomas J. Boyd, Eduardo J. Jimenez, Bruce M. Russell

Publication number: 20120219348Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a substance has a variable-volume storage chamber for storing the product. A dispensing portion is coupled in fluid communication with the storage chamber for receiving substance therefrom, and an outlet aperture coupled in fluid communication with the bore. A one-way valve includes a valve seat and a flexible valve cover seated on the valve seat and defining a normally-closed fluid-tight seal between the valve cover and valve seat. The flexible valve cover is movable relative to the valve seat to allow the passage of substance out of the dispenser. The dispenser further comprises a manually-engageable actuator for moving between first and second positions to dispense substance through the outlet aperture, and an integral, dome-shaped spring for biasing in a direction from one of the first and second positions toward the other.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2011Publication date: August 30, 2012Inventors: Daniel Py, Julian Chan, David Fellows, Eric E. Hartman, Bing He

Patent number: 6418574Abstract: A back cleaning device having two shells, one inner and one outer with a soap solution bladder affixed between the respective shells. The bladder holds a liquefied soap solution that may be dispersed from an upper dispersal nozzle. The inner shell contains mounting brackets that allow it to be engaged to separate height locations on at least one separate rail that may be affixed to a wall in a shower or bath. The outer shell will include at least one scrub pad engaged to an outer surface. The person needing a back cleaning will lean her back against the scrub pad pushing the outer shell towards the inner shell compressing the bladder. The person will move their back up and down against the scrub pad. This bladder compression forces soap solution out of the upper dispersal nozzle. The soap solution runs over the scrub pad, soaping the scrub pad. The person needing the cleaning has their back cleaned due to the up and down movement against the soaped scrub pad.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2001Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Inventor: Larry R. Patent number: 4974981Abstract: A cosmetic powder brush dispenser for depositing cosmetic powder onto a brush within the unitary structure of the dispenser. The dispenser incorporates a deformable container for storing the cosmetic powder and a spray-head at the end of the container with an orifice and upstanding posts that ensure powder break-up prior to its exiting the orifice. A second embodiment of the device uses a metering collar to limit the amount of deformation of the container whereby a desired small quantity of cosmetic powder is forced therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 1989Date of Patent: December 4, 1990Assignee: Cosmetic Essence, Inc.Inventor: Robert A. Bennett

Patent number: 4176980Abstract: A toothbrush and dentifrice combination, at least partially disposable, including an elongated handle having a central axis and an elongated cavity offset from the central axis therein, the offset cavity containing an amount of dentifrice material and defining a thin-walled portion and a thick-walled portion in the handle, and a head being attached to the handle and having an inner elongated cavity and a number of bristles defining a brushing surface thereon, the head further including three outlet openings in the brushing surface connected to the inner elongated cavity therein, which is in turn connected to the offset cavity in the handle. The handle is one integral piece of a resilient thermoplastic material and the thin-walled portion in the handle is readily compressible within its elastic limit a sufficient amount to collapse the offset cavity in the handle and force the dentifrice material into the inner cavity in the head and out through the outlet openings in the brushing surface.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1977Date of Patent: December 4, 1979Inventors: Chester L. O'Neal, Danny C. O'Neal

Patent number: 4149814Abstract: A pen shaped device includes a brush-type applicating tip for dispensing and applying liquid that is stored in an integral fountain reservoir bag. The brush is permanently mounted outside the reservoir, receiving liquid through a hollow tube or other narrow passage. A check valve is provided within the device to prevent leakage during storage but the valve allows liquid to pass from the reservoir to the brush under the impetus of semi-automatic or manual finger-operable feed control. The brush is kept moist during storage by being capped in an air-tight enclosure which receives vapor of the liquid through a vapor-permeable membrane communicating with the reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1977Date of Patent: April 17, 1979Assignee: E. I. du Pont De Nemours and CompanyInventor: William F. Manwaring
