The capacitive force sensor is configured to measure more than two levels of force being applied to the first nib. The capacitive force sensor comprises (i) a first plate and (ii) a second plate. The first plate is made of a material that is elastic to bend towards the second plate when the first nib structure transfers at least a portion of a force applied to the first nib.

When the locking protrusion is removed from the front locking hole and is caught by the rear locking hole, the first brush can be retracted into the barrel and the anti-drying unit closes the brush hole.

Abstract: A method of applying an athletic mat to a base surface comprises the steps of spreading a layer of rubber particles on the base surface. Although there may be some preparation (e.g., cleaning, material removal, etc.) of the base surface before the first layer of rubber particles is spread thereon, the first layer of rubber particles is applied without the necessity of a tack coating or primer layer. A first layer of binder is applied over the previously spread layer of rubber particles, with the binder having a viscosity to at least partially permeate through the layer of rubber particles. Accordingly, the first layer of rubber particles is bonded to the underlying surface when the first layer of binder dries. A separate, second layer of binder is applied over the first layer of binder preferably while the latter is still wet.

The combined writing tool makes it possible to extend or retract either one of the writing cartridges from or into the casing through the small aperture only by a pushing operation of the push button. Thus easy operation can be obtained and unwanted extension of the writing cartridge can be prevented.

The implement includes the following resin molded components, namely, a guide cylinder, front barrel section, cylindrical cam, middle barrel section, cap, and an eraser guide sleeve. The front half portion of the guide cylinder is fixed to the front barrel section and is attached rotatably in its rear half portion to the middle barrel section. The guide cylinder contains a plurality of writing elements fit in respective grooves and movable axially. The cylindrical cam is attached rotatably into the rear end of the guide cylinder, and is disposed in the middle barrel section, locked from relative turning.

Abstract: This invention is to a writing tool such as mechanical pencil or a ballpoint pen in which a writing shaft having a head member is inserted in an outer sleeve in such a manner that the head member projects from the outer sleeve. A stair or step and a spiral groove are provided on the forward inner surface and the rearward inner surface of a tubular cap, respectively, with an inside diameter of the rear part of the spiral groove being larger. A bearing part is brought into contact with a lead tank provided inside a forward art of the tubular part so that the forward part of the outer sleeve is movable in the axial direction and is locked in the turning direction against a rearward inner surface of the outer sleeve. The rearward part of the tubular body is provided with a slit, holding pieces of a stick-shaped object holder slidably inserted in said slit. A stick-shaped object is held by the holding pieces, and the projection is provided on each holder engaged with the spiral groove of the tubular cap.

Abstract: In a writing utensil according to the present invention, when a rearward outer cylinder is rotated in either direction, a cam engaging projection, which is integral with the rearward outer cylinder, slides pressingly on either of the respective cam surfaces of first and second sliders. This causes one of the first and second sliders to advance, which in turn causes a first of the first and second refills to project forwardly while the other remains retracted. Similarly, when the rearward outer cylinder is rotated in the opposite direction, the cam engaging projection slides pressingly on the other of the cam surfaces of the first and second sliders. This causes advancement of the other of the sliders, and in turn causes the second of the first and second refills to be projected while the first remains retracted. The construction allows these operations to be smoothly, stably and positively performed.

Abstract: A writing instrument in the form of a ball pen has two cartridges capable of being alternately moved into the writing position by rotating the barrel. A provision is made for a space in the top part of the barrel for accommodating or receiving various accessory devices such as stamping mechanisms, marker pens or the like. The invention includes a guide tube housed within the barrel and having two longitudinal slots therein. Two slides having small tubes for receiving the writing cartridges, are movable back and forth on offset guide rails on the guide tube. The slides are forced into contact with a curve switching cam surface of a switching casing by springs. By rotating the switching casing, the one or other slide and thus the small tubes with the writing cartridges inserted therein are alternately pushed toward the bottom of the writing instrument and into the writing position.

A tubular cam is utilized together with cam followers and element holders for each writing element and associated supporting structure to provide an instrument which will position one element in the extended position while positioning the second element in the retracted position without the use of springs, will lock each element in its respective position and which will be simple to assemble and maintain.

Abstract: A writing instrument comprises a plurality of slots for holding writing implements such as colored leads, the slots being formed radially in the inner wall of a cylindrical body. The instrument comprises a guide tube mounted coaxially within the cylindrical body and having an opening which can be aligned any one of the slots, a cover plate provided at the opening of the guide tube and adapted to be tilted by the operation of a knock cap, and a chuck provided to the front end of the guide tube. A selected writing implement in the slot is allowed to drop by gravity into the guide tube from the tilted cover plate and then is clamped by the chuck.

Abstract: A composite writing instrument having a lower tubular casing accommodating therewithin two retractable mechanical pencil units spaced by about 180.degree.. An upper tubular casing encloses a cam mechanism for effecting a reciprocal rotational motion through about 180.degree. around the axis of the instrument and engaging both pencil units for alternately shifting them in the axial direction whereby the two pencil units can be alternately advanced to a writing position through an opening at the lower end of the lower tubular casing, or retracted to a retracted position within the lower tubular casing. A feeding operation for advancing the lead of the pencil unit in the writing position is effected by reciprocating of the upper tubular casing in the axial direction.

Abstract: A composite writing instrument composed of two writing units such as two ball point and pen units which has a lower tubular casing accommodating therewithin two writing units and an upper tubular casing accommodating a cam mechanism therewithin which is rotatable about the axis of the casing for advancing the two writing units to a writing position through an opening at the tip of the lower tubular casing or for retracting the units to a holding position within the lower tubular casing. The cam mechanism is rotatable around the axis of the lower tubular casing as well as being engageable with both of the two writing units respectively for shifting the writing units in the axial direction, and the mechanism includes a guide casing having lengthwise grooves thereon and a curved casing accommodating the guide casing therewithin.

Abstract: The pen consists of two pen bodies, preferably identical, which interlock with each other in a plurality of longitudinal positions. Each of the pen bodies is preferably provided with a seat for positioning a ball point cartridge therein. Movement of the pen bodies will cause the cartridges seated therein to be protracted or retracted.
