Abstract: A writing device includes a body having a main axis, the body having a bore formed therein, the bore having a bore axis oblique to the main axis, and a sharpener blade operatively attached to the body at least partially within the bore, such that a pencil is insertable into the bore of the body to be sharpened by the sharpener blade.

Abstract: A shaper for defining a tip portion of a cosmetic unit that has become worn includes a shaping surface for smoothing a surface of the tip portion and a slot in the shaping surface. The shaping surface is user-selectably placed in contact with the tip portion. An edge disposed at the slot and is engageable for removing material of the tip portion when the shaping surface is in contact with tip portion. The removed material is passed through the slot.

Abstract: A pencil, in particular a cosmetic pencil, comprising a cartridge, a lead held such that it can move axially relative to the cartridge, and a shaper for shaping the working end of the lead. The pencil can adopt an operating state in which twisting of the shaper relative to the lead and/or the cartridge in a first angle of rotation section leads to axial displacement of the cartridge relative to the lead in the direction away from the shaper, and in a second angle of rotation section leads to axial displacement of the lead in the direction towards the shaper.

Abstract: An orbital marking pencil includes a body assembly, a rotator assembly and a rotational support. The body assembly includes a plunger, a main spring and a support spring. A convoluted race is formed on an inner surface of the body assembly. The rotator assembly includes a rotator spring and at least two ball bearings. The rotator spring opens a collet that retains a piece of lead. The ball bearings are received in the convoluted race. The depression of the body assembly in a vertical movement actuates the ball bearings within the convoluted race, thereby rotating the lead in an orbital movement. The support spring provides resistance to return the rotational support to a starting position, the main spring provides resistance for and returns the rotator assembly to a starting position, and the rotator spring provides resistance for and returns the plunger to a starting position.

Abstract: A writing implement which employs a incremental advancement mechanism and a detachable sharpener. The sharpener, in turn, carries a detachable shavings container. This writing implement finds particular application in conjunction with crayons. The various components of the present invention, and the manner in which they interrelate, will be described more fully hereinafter.

Abstract: Disclosed is a wax pencil holding device formed from a main body. The main body is formed from first and second tubular portions. A thin wax pencil is adapted to be removably received within the first tubular portion of the main body. The wax pencil is dispensed and retracted via a sliding plunger. The wax pencil further includes a pencil sharpener with a frusto-conical inset portion. The pencil sharpener is removably coupled to the first end of the second tubular portion. Further included is a shaving container for storing the shavings of the wax pencil. The shaving contain is adapted to be removably coupled to the second end of the pencil sharpener.

Abstract: A cosmetic applicator for moldable soft materials which permits the ready formation of a fine point. The body of the applicator has a chamber in which a charge of such soft material is positioned. A piston cooperable with the body acts directly on the charge to force it out the open front end of the chamber into a cap having an interior conical surface. The conical surface and the interior surface of the chamber are sufficiently smooth and non-sticking so that the charge of moldable material is freely slidable within the chamber and readily releasable from the conical surface.

Abstract: An automatic pencil with a lead-sharpening device, has a pencil lead of a diameter of 2 mm inserted into the pipe sleeve of the pencil case in which a lead-sharpening knife holder is attached. Whenever the lead becomes dull, the user presses and turns the cap on the top of the pencil and then sharpens the lead by the knife holder to make the lead ready for continued use, and the user can retract the lead back to the pencil case if the pencil is not used to prevent the lead from being broken or damaged.

Abstract: A disposable lead pencil, eraser and sharpener combination in which there is an eraser mounted upon one end of the housing and an abrasive sharpener structure contained within an enclosed and sealed chamber at the opposite end of the pencil housing. Sharpening of the lead is effected by reciprocating a pusher plate mounted upon the side of the housing back and forth to move the lead back and forth relative to the abrasive sharpener. At the end of each reciprocal stroke of the lead, an indexing mechanism automatically rotates the lead relative to the abrasive element so that a different section of lead is presented to the sharpener during each stroke. The sharpener containing chamber of the pencil housing is sealed so that all lead filings are retained within the pencil's housing.

Also a pencil cap adapted removably to fit over an extremity of a pencil, the cap including pencil sharpening means and retaining means adapted releasably to hold the cap on the pencil against axial withdrawal therefrom.

Abstract: The head of a self-sharpening pencil is provided with a pair of pivotally disposed, cooperating abraders controlled by a pair of movable members. Means are provided for mechanically driving the graphite core against the abraders whereby the forward end of the graphite core is sharpened to a high degree before it is protruded for writing.
