Abstract: On the one surface of a back plate suited to a length-and-width size of a ring binder, hooks serving as an engaging means are formed. The back plate is fixed to the spine surface of the file cover. When the ring binder is pressed against the back plate, the hooks are engaged with the ring binder so that the file cover is mounted on a booklet bound with the ring binder.

Abstract: A binder arrangement that has a plurality of covers hingably connected to a spine that spaces apart each cover such that each cover can carry a binder and be closed one on top of the other without either binder interfering with each other or case closure. Each binder includes a hold down page that is releasably attached by a hold down page latch that accommodates the binder holding contents having different thicknesses. In a preferred embodiment, the hold down page latch comprises a hook and loop fastener that has a loop strip fixed to a latch strap and a hook strip that is fixed to the hold down page. To increase the number of opening and closing cycles the binder arrangement can endure, the binder arrangement has sidewalls joined by a fastening arrangement that is resiliently anchored at one end to the spine, preferably by an elastomeric connector. In one preferred embodiment, the fastening arrangement is a zipper that is resiliently anchored at its zipper bottom stop by a piece of elastic fabric.

Abstract: A ring binder has a substrate and a ring binder mechanism including a housing and at least one ring supported by the housing for mounting loose leaf paper. At least one clip is adapted to secure the clip to a substrate and thereby mount the ring binder mechanism on the substrate. The clip has a first portion, a second portion spaced from the first portion, and an intermediate portion connecting the first and second portions. The first portion has an attachment member for attaching the clip to the housing. At least one of the portions is a wire.

Abstract: A binding device includes a first main body and a second main body made of a synthetic resin and provided so as to be openable and closable. A synthetic resin locking member having two hook portions is integrally provided with the first main body, and a first prong member made of, for example, a metal is mounted to the first main body. A second prong member made of, for example, a metal is mounted to the second main body. In addition, a lever member made of a synthetic resin is slidably provided in the second main body 22b.

Abstract: A ring binder mechanism that retains loose-leaf pages and has ring members that readily lock together in a closed position, preventing accidental opening of the ring members and loss of pages. The mechanism comprises a housing that supports two hinge plates for pivoting motion that brings the ring members to either an open position or the closed position. The mechanism further comprises a control structure supported by the housing for causing the pivoting motion of the hinge plates. A spring plate is engageable with the control structure for urging the control structure to move toward a position blocking pivoting motion of the hinge plates when the ring members move to the closed position.

Abstract: A ring binder mechanism has a resilient polymeric housing. The housing has a central portion and lateral sides extending downwardly along either side of the central portion. A metal ring support is supported between the lateral sides for movement relative to the housing. Each of a plurality of rings includes a first ring member mounted on the ring support for movement therewith to open and close the rings. The housing applies a spring force biasing the ring support toward the open position when the first ring member is proximate its open position and biasing the ring support to the closed position when the first ring member is proximate its closed position. The housing spring force is the only spring force applied to the ring support that moves the ring support.

Abstract: A duplex binder assembly is provided that is comprised of two oppositely facing binders that share a common back cover. In this way, a symmetry is created which is lacking in known designs, which promotes more complimentary vertical storage with typical companion materials such as books.

Abstract: A fastening system for securing a ring mechanism on a substrate has a tubular support post, an expansible retainer, and a generally pin-shaped expansion member. The tubular support post has a sidewall with an inner surface defining a central passage through the support post. The expansible retainer has a head portion with a hole therethrough, and at least two flexible fingers extending longitudinally from the head portion. The flexible fingers collectively have an inner surface that together with the hole defines a central passage extending through the expansible retainer and have a cross-sectional dimension. The expansion member has a cross-section that is greater than the cross-sectional dimension of at least a portion of the central passage of the expansible retainer to urge and retain the flexible fingers transversely outward from a relaxed condition to a deflected condition in engagement with the sidewall of the support post.

Abstract: A new method and apparatus for recording, filing, indexing, & organizing print media that generally comprises a main print media storage binder having a multitude of binder rings, a multitude of sheet protectors, and a multitude of topic specific pre-printed indexing tabs which when compiled into a single system will allow a user to record, file, index, organize and otherwise manage print media such as magazine or newspaper articles or clippings in a secure, protective and easy to use system.

Abstract: An adjustable page binder system is provided. The system has a plurality of flexible substrates having a first surface, a second surface, and an edge. The substrates also have a plurality of pairs of first and second apertures, and a slit joining the first and second aperture of each pair. The system further has a binder with a front cover, a back cover, and a plurality of ring connectors. The ring connectors have a generally elliptical cross-sectional geometry with a major axis of the elliptical cross-sectional geometry extending generally parallel to a binding of the binder. Further, the ring connectors further have a leading edge and a trailing edge. The ring connectors are sized to fit within the first aperture of each pair of apertures in the flexible substrates. The leading edge of each ring connector is designed to separate the slit to allow the ring connector to be transitioned to the appropriate second aperture.

Abstract: A ring mechanism for retaining loose-leaf pages comprises a housing, hinge plates, and ring members mounted on the hinge plates for retaining pages on the mechanism. An actuating lever is pivotally mounted on the housing for engaging the hinge plates and pivoting them to selectively move the ring members between an open position and a closed position. A travel bar is operatively connected to the lever for selective movement between a position in which locking elements of the travel bar block the pivoting movement of the hinge plates and a position in which the travel bar allows the hinge plates to pivot. The lever is configured to deform when pivoting the hinge plates to close the ring members to delay movement of the travel bar and locking elements to the blocking position from the onset of pivoting motion of the hinge plates.

Abstract: This invention provides a padfolio, portfolio or other foldable business accessory that is organized with three hinged leaves (including two main leaves and one overriding leaf that folds over the main leaves when closed together) that may be unfolded and laid flat to expose various internal elements within an overall interior. The elements are organized so that a notepad is provided in a center leaf, while one of the opposing side leaves include a raised clock base having a well or recess for securing a clock having a folding stand that can be raised into an angled, standing position from a flat position. One main leaf also includes a support base that removably supports a personal digital assistant (PDA), that is normally secured flat against the leaf, but that can be hinged upwardly into at least one adjustable angled position whereby the PDA is tilted for easier viewing whilst working in another area of the padfolio, such as the notepad. In this manner, it is more accessible and easier to use.

Abstract: A ring mechanism for a loose-leaf binder comprises a thin, elongate plate and at least two ring members supported by the elongate plate. The ring members move between an open position for receiving and removing loose-leaf pages and a closed position for capturing the loose-leaf pages on the ring while permitting movement of the pages along the ring. The elongate plate has a longitudinal end including spaced apart first and second end portions located on one transverse side of the elongate plate. The first and second end portions are bent over to present a longitudinally facing surface which is blunt. A method of manufacturing a ring mechanism for a loose-leaf binder is also disclosed.

Abstract: Two first binding members supported rotatably by a base, which will be fixed to a back cover, and two second binding members, which engage with the front ends of the first binding members to form closed loops, are provided. Spaces between the base sections of the first and second binding members are connected via a first and second connecting plate, respectively. A releasing element is disposed between the respective connecting members, and a force is given by the releasing element in the direction that the closed loops via binding members are released. It is such adapted that, when the first binding members are nipped by fingertips and given an operation force in the direction that the same come closer to each other, the engagement with the second members are released and the front ends can rotate in the direction that the same are opened.

The pocket may be configured to receive and hold a personal electronic assistant, a cellular telephone (302), or another personal electronic device. The interior pocket includes a window material that allows visual access to the interior (204) of the pocket assembly through the material of the interior pocket (104). The pocket may be constructed so that a personal electronic assistant held inside the pocket assembly is usable through the window without removing the device from the pocket assembly.

Abstract: A variable capacity binder including an outer cover and a binding mechanism including a plurality of spaced rings, each ring being shaped to be received through a hole of a piece of paper to couple the paper to the binding mechanism. Each ring is non-symmetrical with respect to at least one axis and has a longitudinal axis. The binding mechanism is pivotally coupled to the cover such that the longitudinal axis of each ring can be pivoted relative to the spine.

Abstract: A report cover (10) is disclosed which can be used with a report (12) bound by a flexible comb binding (14). An insert (20) is bound with the report (12) in the flexible comb binding (14). The insert (20) is then fit within a pocket (38) in the back cover (28) of the cover (26). The spine or side cover (30) and front cover (32) of the cover (26) then encloses the report (12) and spiral binding (14) to provide an attractive, book-like report with spine labeling and titling for easy shelf reference. The spine also provides a space for advertising. The report cover can be used with a report that is bound with a spiral, wire loop or three ring binding also. A modified cover (100) can be formed with integral side tabs (110) and end tab (112) to form the pocket (102) without the use of adhesive or other fastener.

Abstract: An optical storage media management system and process for storing and organizing a relatively large collection of optical discs in the form of a display binder with a plurality of display sheets including associated indicia matching a positional identifier indicating the location of the disc. In one embodiment, the binder is used in conjunction with a table of contents indicating the position of individual optical discs in relation to the binder contents and a centralized database for storing optical disc information in a categorized format in cooperation with a computerized table of contents generator for generating the table of contents for the binder.

Abstract: A inverted U-shaped retainer clip is provided for securing sleeves to a binder for storing and protecting disc type objects. One embodiment of the retainer clip includes a body portion as well as downwardly extending legs on each end. Each leg terminates in a coupling device having outwardly extending fingers having a notch on the outer surface of each finger. A pair of receptacles is used in conjunction with each clip and is designed to receive the coupling devices and engage the notch on each finger to secure the clip within the receptacles. The receptacles are installed in the binder through the back side of apertures formed in a reinforcement strip provided on the inside of the spine. After the sleeves are threaded on the body portion of the clip the ends are inserted into the receptacles to permanently retain the sleeves and clip in the binder.

Abstract: A binder ring clamp assembly for use with a loose leaf binders having binder rings. The assembly has a pair of clamps, each clamp having a flat panel with at least two holes for allowing the binder rings to extend therethrough. Tensioned springs are secured around the holes such that in use the springs are extended over the binder rings. The springs serve to urge the paper contained within the rings towards the center of the rings. When the binder is closed, the springs are compressed between the binder rings and the clamp assembly panels. The tension in the springs, along with the weight of the panels, exert pressure against the papers from both directions to maintaining the papers in alignment and positioned towards the center of the binder.

Abstract: A wrap-around notebook or binder includes a ring assembly with a shield and a pair of frames forming a bistable construction, and a hinge plate pivotally coupled to the shield with the outer surface of the hinge plate aligned with the outer extent of the shield/frame assembly when the hinge plate is parallel to the plane of the shield. The exposed frame member may be convex, recessed to receive rivet heads, and may be plated. The hinge plate(s) may have curls which interfit with alternate curls from the shield to provide a hinge. The ring assembly may be mounted in the notebook or binder so that the shield side of the ring assembly faces the front cover of the binder. The pivot line between the shield and the hinge plate may be spaced from the shield by a clearance distance. The notebook or binder lies flat on an underlying surface with either the front cover of the rear cover folded under the assembly.

Abstract: A one-piece report cover and improved binding structure. The report cover has a front panel, spine and back panel. The improved binding structure comprises a male connector panel, female connector panel and binding element. The female panel has an aperture for receiving and retaining a tab shaped portion of the male panel located between fastening means fastening the female panel to the back panel and a plurality of integrally formed hinges for folding the panel about an edge of a document. The binding element fixes the relationship between the female panel, document and male panel thereby preventing disengagement of the tab portion from the female panel aperture during use. The document may be removed from the improved binding structure by removing the male panel tab portion from the female panel aperture allowing access to the binding element for disassembly. The improved binding structure allows reuse without damage to the components.

The structure comprises a male connector panel having multiple openings along its edge and a female connector panel fastened to the back panel of a one-piece report cover by means of adhesive, extending adjacent and parallel to the second hinge and distanced to allow enough room for the tab-shape on the male connector panel to be inserted to the center opening of the female connector panel without interfering with the adhesion of the female connector panel to the back panel of the cover. An elongated binding element is provided extending adjacent and parallel to the margin of the sheets of paper and the male connector panel edge. The male connector panel is disposed on a bottom side of the elongated binding element. A one-piece report cover is provided having a front panel, a center spine panel, a back panel, a first hinge and a second hinge.

Abstract: An improved ring metal (12) includes a shield (12). An elongate plate (14) has a length generally corresponding to the length of a binder (B) in which the ring metal is installed. A hollow cylindrical post (16a, 16b) extends from the underside (18) of the plate, at each end of the plate. One end (US) of a concealed fastener (CF) used to secure the ring metal to a binder cover is fitted onto each post. The post subsequently engages the concealed fastener to secure the shield and fastener together. The posts aid alignment of the shield and fasteners during fabrication of the binder.

Abstract: A binder spine with a generally rectangular back panel that has a width and a length. The back panel is bounded by generally opposed longitudinal edges. The opposed longitudinal edges are joined through living hinges to adjacent side panels. The binder spine is foldable along the living hinges between an open generally flat configuration and a generally closed configuration. At least one post member is located on one of the side panels, and at least one socket member is located on the other side panel. The socket and post members are aligned with one another and include generally cylindrical mating walls. The post and socket members are spaced apart in the open configuration by a distance. The socket and post members are positioned to retainingly interengage one another in the closed configuration to hold the binder spine in that closed configuration. The socket in the socket member receives the post member in a snap fit.

Abstract: A loop-type binder comprises tongues (4) attached on its back cover for holding document sheets, and these tongues (4) constantly increase in thickness from their base (6) to their tip (9), thus comprising a deflection resistant tip and an elastic staff at their base. The radius of the joining area (15) from the tongue to the base is by several times smaller on the side facing the back cover than the radius of the joining area (14) on the side that faces the front cover. The stopper (13) that retains the tongue when the binder is open is integrated into the tongue by a slope (12). This tongue design facilitates convenient and gentle handling and storage of documents (FIG. 2).

Abstract: A stationery organizer is provided having parallel, C-shaped members that are threaded through the aligned apertures of numerous stationery products. The C-shaped members have adjacent first ends joined by a connecting member, and have second ends that are curved upwardly, rearwardly and inwardly, then joined to define a hook. The C-shaped members are joined by a curvilinear spring member that has a first end spaced apart from the connecting member such that an aperture is formed. The hook is insertable through the aperture only by compressing the curvilinear spring member. Once inserted the hook catches the connecting member as the compression of the curvilinear spring member is lowered, although sufficient compression load remains in the curvilinear spring member to cause the hook to bear upon the connecting member to secure the closure. Only a subsequent compression of the curvilinear spring member will disengage the hook from the connecting member for release.

Abstract: For ring binders of externally fitted types it is an essential requirement that they do not interfere with the turning of loose leaves. Conventional binders have had too broad backbone plates supporting binder rings to permit smooth turning of the leaves. The invention provides a loose-leaf binder a loose-leaf binder comprising an elongate first backbone plate having a plurality of first binder half-rings formed at given intervals upright along its outer edge, and a second backbone plate having a plurality of second binder half-rings formed at given intervals upright along its edge opposite to that of the first backbone plate. The first and second backbone plates are adapted to be combined to close the first and second half-rings to form complete binder rings.

Abstract: A calendar slide for binding a margin of a calendar or a poster and allowing the same to be hung by a hanger in a desired location, such as a wall. Spaced convex bulges in the calendar slide prevent the slides from sticking together during the storage, shipment, and binding processes, and also promote uniform stacking of the slides in a tinning machine magazine, and finally prevent the adjacent nested slides from scratching or marring one another.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a ring binder assembly that includes a cover, a ring mechanism and a means to removably secure the cover to the ring mechanism. The removable securing means includes a pair of removable rivets. The removable rivets may in a first embodiment include a pair of resilient tail members that can be pinched together in order to pass through openings in the cover and the ring mechanism. The resilient tail members tend to have a diameter larger then the openings such that when the resilient tail members pass through the openings, the resilient tail members return to their larger diameter configuration. This permits a consumer or user with the ability to disassemble the components of the ring binder assembly and interchange these components with new components similarly configured. The user may then customize and personalize the ring binder assembly to their own specifications.

Abstract: There is disclosed a Punchless File whereby it is made of plastic injection and the accessories are made of plastic or metal. The size is made slightly larger than the size of the doc. A different size of doc will require a different size of the said invention. The invention has various devices to hold bulk doc together in a neat & organised manner without the use of ring fitting, lever arch mechanism or post fitting/mechanism for prepunch doc or punch pockets. The device and design include a stopper, a moveable guide, a side guide, separators, a drop down vertical side edge or a low vertical side edge & protrusions that lifts the bottom sheet of document up slightly for easy retrieval of doc. These devices act in part or in full to achieve the objective of this invention.

The connector includes two clips formed on the intermediate panel for engagement with the ends of the base of the holder. In a second aspect, the connector is a hook-and-loop device.

The shaft and the stem are provided in a top end with a retaining hole.
