  • Patent number: 5503487
Abstract: A separator page is provided for a set of papers of uniform size and shape. The separator page preferably has the same rectangular size and shape as each of the papers in the set of papers. At an unbound edge the separator page has a plurality of parallel, uniformly space slots of uniform length. These slots are spaced a uniform distance from the selected unbound edge. An index tab has a labeling portion wider than the distance between the slots and the edge along which the slots are aligned. A pair of insertion ears extend in opposite directions from the labeling portion of each index tab. Each of the ears is of such a width as to fit snugly into the slots. The index tabs are thereby removably and selectively positionable at different locations along the mounting edge with the ears thereof inserted into alternatively selected slots. The labeling portion of the index tab projects outwardly from the selected unbound edge of the set of papers, and is thereby visible in between the papers.

Abstract: An adhesive bound pad of paper such as loose leaf binder paper is provided which is secured in assembly by adhesive material, lining or partially lining holes along selected edges of the paper stack forming the pad. The edges of the paper pad remain free of adhesive material and thus are not distorted upon separation of the sheets from the pad. The adhesive bound pad is manufactured by assembling a selected number of sheets of paper into a stack and drilling or otherwise forming holes, such as binder holes, along one of the edges of the stack. Thereafter, the coating of adhesive material is applied within the holes of the stack so as to entirely coat the paper at the holes or to coat selected portions of the paper at the holes as desired. • Patent number: 5333962
Abstract: A hybrid binder-folder utilizing a foldable ring system for holding pages, which affords the advantage of easy page manipulation of ring binders with the advantage of flat folding of folders. The binder-folder has two side members which are mutually foldable along the centerline therebetween. Two, three or more foldable rings of flat, thin cross-section and of substantially semicircular shape are connected with the side members adjacent with and transverse to the centerline. When the frame is attached to the binder, the article is permitted to slide along the slot engaging elements such that the article may be placed in adjacent face-up locations.

  • Patent number: 5282690
Abstract: The invention is a foldable pull-out, index card for use with business file card systems that typically use two rails in order to hold a series of business type cards in a file. The pull-out, index card may be used with a set of business cards as an index or table of contents for the rest of the cards in the file. The pull-out card has a front panel with two notched portions in the bottom edge to guide the card along the pair of rails in the business card file. A series of intermediate panels fold out above the front panel and contain printed information pertinent to the subject matter of other cards in the file. The back panel of the card may also have a pair of notched portions to further secure the fold-out card in the file.

  • Patent number: 5265359
Abstract: A display frame includes a backing sheet having a spacer secured thereto and a mat overlying and secured to the spacer. The mat has a window defined by four edges, this mat window being smaller in each direction than a window in the spacer. The edges of the mat window meet in corners. Slits begin at each of two adjacent corners of the mat window and proceed away from opposite ends of one edge of the mat window. These slits have closed ends remote from the ends of that edge and are of a length sufficient to permit an image to be inserted within the frame, this image having dimensions greater than those of the frame window but no greater than those of the spacer window, by raising opposite edges of the frame window adjacent the slits and inserting the image beneath the raised edges, moving the image in one direction until a trailing edge of the image clears that one edge of the mat window, and then moving the image in the opposite direction to move its trailing edge beneath the one edge of the mat window.

  • Patent number: 5219239
Abstract: A rotatable binder insert for supporting and holding such articles as calculators or other electronic devices, to-do lists and check lists, self-stick removable notes, etc., that are used to supplement, or in conjunction with, information written on the pages of the binder. Inasmuch as such information may be found on both sides of the binder rings, i.e., on both right- and left-hand pages, an article used therewith must similarly be visible and accessible on alternate sides of the binder rings. By being mounted on a support member capable of rotating 180.degree. on a frame insertable anywhere in the binder and readily attachable to the binder rings such articles can be placed alongside information found on either right or left-hand pages.

Abstract: An accounting device for simplified bookkeeping. The device comprises a spiral binder, a check ledger insertable in the divider and divided into a plurality of rows and columns for recording data thereon, as well as a plurality of snap-fit checks which overlie the ledger in shingled fashion. Each check contains a strip of transfer material so that information recorded on each check is successively transferred to a line of the check ledger. A plurality of spreadsheet forms including matchup boxes are also insertable into the binder. Sums recorded in the matchup boxes are transferable to correspondingly labeled matchup boxes provided on a profit/loss summary form so that profit or loss may be easily calculated, and bank account figures easily reconciled. All of the bookkeeping operations associated with a small or micro business may be performed using the self-contained accounting device of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 5186496
Abstract: An improved photographic album for displaying aligned planar pages includes an elongated rigid spine defining a mounting surface on which a pair of spaced retainers are mounted. Each planar page has a flexible margin which carries an elongated flat hinge having hooks at either end projecting outwardly from the flexible margin toward the retainers. Each hook engages a retainer to hold the page firmly in place yet allow the page to pivot relative to the spine to flip the pages in the album. A pair of aligned notches are present in the front lip of each retainer to facilitate insertion of the hooks into the slots. One of the notches is a rounded bearing surface against which a hook can bear to flex the hook and allow the other hook to move toward engaging the other retainer. That other retainer has a ramped notch along which the second hook can ride and against which the second hook can flex to move into engagement with the retainer.
