  • Patent number: 3955905
Abstract: A pump housing accommodates in it an output shaft of an electromotor which forms a unit with the pump, and a rotor having substantially slots is mounted on the output shaft for rotation. The slots accommodate sliding vanes. A mounting member mounts the rotor on the output shaft in such a manner that the motor can tilt to a limited extent about two axes which are normal to each other and to the longitudinal axis of the output shaft of the electromotor.

  • Patent number: 3934537
Abstract: Disclosed herein is vibration isolating arrangement for an outboard motor having a propulsion unit mounted rearwardly of the steering axis of the outboard motor and including a powerhead, a drive shaft housing having a drive shaft, and a lower unit carrying a propeller. The mounting arrangement includes an upper mount and a pair of lower mounts secured to the propulsion unit in vertically spaced relation and rearwardly of or behind the drive shaft. The top mount includes a cross bar which has a wedged-shaped cross section with the upper and lower surfaces thereof converging in the direction of propeller thrust, which is supported by a resilient bushing within a casing, and which has outer ends extending from the casing transversely to the direction of propeller thrust for connection to a swivel bracket. The lower mounts are mounted in laterally spaced recesses provided in the drive shaft housing.

  • Patent number: 3933012
Abstract: A compact torque absorber is provided to absorb the reaction torque of a submergible pump upon discharge tubing which supports the pump. The torque absorber comprises inner and outer tubular members having outwardly directed and inwardly directed interdigitated projections, respectively, which are spaced apart circumferentially for receiving torque absorbing elements therebetween, the tubular members being relatively rotatable to a limited extent. The outer member has an internal annular collar at one end through which the inner member extends and which supports a fluid seal. The projections of the outer member extend upwardly from the collar and carry a thrust ring upon their upper ends. An external annular collar of the inner member provides an annular shoulder spaced from the thrust ring. Ball bearings are provided between the thrust ring and the shoulder. Additional seals at the external collar of the inner member isolate the thrust bearing from the pumped fluid.

  • Patent number: 3932048
Abstract: A furniture joint for joining hollow-ended structural sections of modular furniture and especially the highly finished elements employed in the steel-and-glass-look type of furniture. This type of furniture requires a continuity of surface appearances having mirror-like attributes. The joining of the hollow-ended sections which advantageously may be cut from available lengths of mirrorized plastic tubing is accomplished by the use of a splined collar of elastomeric material and connector spuds which fit in the annular spaces between the connector arms and the tubing. The splines of the collar are adapted to be torsionally distorted ("squeegeed") during assembly. This distortion of the splines prevents the joint from inadvertently coming apart under the axial strain that the furniture joint may be expected to carry in normal use. However, the joint may be disassembled and the elements reused if rotational twisting is employed together with a pulling effort.
