Abstract: A rotational shaft is placed through insertion holes of rubber washers sandwiching a portion of an impeller having a mount hole. The impeller is mounted on the rotational shaft with a nut on a threaded distal end portion of the rotational shaft. The rotational shaft of the motor includes a locking surface. The insertion holes of the rubber washers each have the same shape as the cross-sectional shape of the rotational shaft. The mount hole of the impeller includes a spacing portion extending at an angle from the linear portion of the insertion hole of each rubber washer away from the locking surface of the rotational shaft. Although the impeller rotates with respect to the rotational shaft under a frictional force applied from the nut tightened against the rotational shaft, this structure prevents metallic contact between the impeller at the mount hole and the locking surface of the rotational shaft.

Abstract: A blower fan including an impeller easily mounted on the rotational shaft of a motor generates less noise. The impeller is mounted on the rotational shaft of the motor using a fastener with an elastic vibration isolator and a washer in between. The washer has a predetermined shape including radial projections from a circumference about a central receiving hole. The vibration isolator has the predetermined shape larger than the predetermined shape of the washer, and has a first recess having the predetermined shape on its top surface to receive the washer fittingly. The impeller has a second recess having the predetermined shape on its top surface to receive the vibration isolator fittingly. The vibration isolator thus separates the impeller mounted on the rotational shaft from the washer in both the axial and rotational directions of the motor to reduce vibrations in both directions propagating to the impeller, generating less noise.

The support assembly for the cylindrical end is made up of a second retaining member which is positionable generally transverse to and entirely inside the cylindrical end. The second retaining member includes a plurality of expandable flange portions which engage the inside of the cylindrical portion as the retaining member is pulled in an outward direction by a bolt threadably secured to the second spring seat.

  • Patent number: 4671694
Abstract: The invention provides an elastic articulated coupling which comprises a relatively rigid inner member having a longitudinal axis, a relatively rigid outer member having a generally cylindrical interior of a predetermined first diameter surrounding said inner member with substantial clearance, and an elastomeric body located in the clearance between the inner and outer members. The elastomeric body is connected firmly to the inner member. Additionally, a sleeve comprising wear-resistant elastic material is firmly connected to the elastomeric body and disposed between the elastomeric body and the outer member. The elastomeric body and the sleeve together have a predetermined second diameter which is greater than the predetermined first diameter defined by the interior of the generally cylindrical outer member. As a result, the sleeve is connected in a non-positive manner with the interior surface of the outer member merely by radial pre-stressing and by axial bracing.

  • Patent number: 4668025
Abstract: A sealed pivot joint suitable for joining together the adjacent links of an endless belt, for example, a tank track. The joint has a bearing (10) rotatable on a pin (8), and an elastic sleeve (20) whose extremities are in sealed relationship to the pin and bearing thereby preventing the ingress of abrasive material into, and the egress of lubricant from, the bearing surface (12). The sleeve is maintained in circumferential tension by tensioning members (14, 16, 18) between the sleeve and the pin which act to prevent wrinkling of the sleeve when the pin and bearing are rotated relative to one another thereby reducing abrasive wear on the outer surface of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4630804
Abstract: An improved axle clamp is provided, particularly for use with composite material leaf springs, to securely fix the position of the leaf spring relative to a wheel axle or other suspension system member. The axle clamp comprises a rigid clamp base, a resilient wedge insert, a rigid clamp plate, and a resilient cover pad. The clamp base provides a bottom wall and substantially parallel side walls extending from the bottom wall to form a channel adapted to receive the wedge insert. The inner surface of at least one side wall of the clamp base fairs from both ends into a channel-widening concavity, preferably at the longitudinal mid-point of the channel. The wedge insert has a bottom wall and substantially parallel side walls extending from the bottom wall and forming therewith an inner channel adapted to laterally jacket a leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 4251187
Abstract: A hub assembly for a helicopter rotor system having a monolithic thin-wall hub shell made from composite material and including centrally apertured upper and lower wall portions integrally joined at the outer periphery of the shell and spaced apart at inner regions. The upper and lower wall portions cooperate to define a plurality of bearing sockets angularly spaced relative to the axis of rotation and connecting webs extending between angularly adjacent sockets. Elastomeric blade retaining bearing assemblies supported within the sockets retain and support rotor blades for articulate movement. • Patent number: 4235558
Abstract: A ball joint construction having a ball-stud member with a ball portion and a shank portion and an open-ended socket member into which the ball portion is inserted. An elastomeric covering is permanently bonded to both the ball member and a part of the shank portion to provide increased bond life and strength and then deformed for inserting in the open end of the socket thereby resiliently interconnecting the socket and ball members. An additional rib or lip of elastomer is provided on the covering of the ball adjacent the shank which collapses into a continuous multiple curved pattern during insertion into the socket. The rib provides for increased life of the elastomer by improved surface tension parameters and also keeps stones and other debris out of the open-ended portion of the socket. A further bonding between the socket and elastomer after insertion provides a completely bonded system capable of accepting very substantial angular movement without slippage or pullout.
