The outer diameter of the cylindrical member is larger than the insertion hole of the inner plate through which the link bolt can pass. This allows the link bolt to be prevented from falling out of the segment when the link bolt moves in the longitudinal direction due to gravity. When a force is applied to the tongue from below, the cylindrical member is elastically deformed and can be removed from the link bolt.

    Abstract: A mounting apparatus for a top mount mast antenna includes a secondary mounting bracket positioned below the fender panel to stabilize the antenna attachment screws extending through the antenna base into the fender panel of the automotive vehicle on which the antenna is mounted. The secondary mounting bracket is formed with a generally circular reinforcement collar that projects upwardly through the opening in the fender panel. The reinforcement collar has opposing retention tabs that pass through recesses formed in the opening. A rotation of the secondary mounting bracket within the opening rotates the retention tabs to a position overlying the fender panel, and moves deformable bosses into alignment with the screw holes in the fender panel. The rotation of the secondary mounting bracket is halted by the engagement of a closed side of the bosses with a flange of material created by the piercing of the screw holes.

Two or more vertical members or bars are then secured to the horizontal members. The vertical members may be mounted using the profiles, channels, or grooves of the horizontal members. They may be mounted using a connection stud, a tab or a clamp, such as a spring clamp. The vertical members preferably also include continuous, vertical grooves on their sides, for placing photographs into the grooves for display.

The secondary part is preferably formed of nylon to serve as a retaining device for the attachment screws so that the screws do not loosen, which ultimately causes separation of the antenna from the fender panel and a corresponding deformation of the fender panel. The secondary nylon part allows a flexible installation that can be accomplished before painting of the fender panel. The secondary part fits into the opening in the fender panel to mount on the peripheral circumference of the opening and extend outwardly form the opening below the fender panel to be positioned for engagement with the attachment screws connecting the base member of the antenna to the fender panel.
