  • Patent number: 10738811
Abstract: A clinch fastener with a single-element, unitary construction that does not require the preassembly of parts. The fastener provides a clamp load after installation and is fully formed by stamping the part from sheet metal. The fastener provides the necessary rigidity for a clinch attachment shank with the resilience of a head that will provide a residual clamp load to the attached panels. The fastener attaches two panels face-to-face by extending through aligned apertures in the panels. A shank undercut receives the cold flow of material from the second bottom panel while the panels are clamped against a resilient dome-shaped head of the fastener. The fastener may include a central axial well that receives the tip of a press punch during installation.

  • Publication number: 20140341643
Abstract: A composite steel plate has a core material and steel plates on both sides of the core material and has mounting holes. A metal collar has a flange, a sleeve portion extending from the flange, and a locking portion extending from the sleeve portion and having a thickness thinner than that of the sleeve portion. The present invention provides a mounting structure for mounting the metal collar onto the composite steel plate. The locking portion is enlarged, and a first enlarged diameter portion is formed. Then the sleeve portion is enlarged, and a second enlarged diameter portion is formed. One steel plate is thereby clamped between the first enlarged diameter portion and the second enlarged diameter portion, and the other steel plate is thereby clamped between the second enlarged diameter portion and the flange. Thus, the metal collar is mounted onto the composite steel plate.

In order to achieve firstly centering and secondly a turning or twisting distance which is as short as possible when the connecting element is twisted in order to brace the components, a first mounting depression, which holds the holding end and is aligned with the through-openings, as a centering cone, with the holding end being conical, forms a mating surface which corresponds with the centering cone.

Abstract: A prosthetic coupling device for incorporation into a prosthetic socket and for coupling a prosthetic limb structural system to the prosthetic socket includes a deformable urethane cup to receive a positive model of an amputated limb and a coupling plate for attaching the prosthetic socket to prosthetic limb structural system. The deformable cup is flared at an end to allow it to accommodate a wide range of limb sizes. The coupling plate includes a surface for attaching to the deformable urethane cup, threaded standoffs that adjust the thickness of a laminate material formed around the end of the coupling plate during fabrication into a prosthetic socket, an o-ring that secures a sheet of PVA to the coupling plate during fabrication and a centered through hole for connecting to a pin from a suspension sleeve. The prosthetic coupling device may further include one or more magnets for releasably securing the prosthetic socket to a suspension sleeve.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tubular rivet connection between at least one first (1) and one second metal sheet (2). According to the invention, the tubular rivet (3) is made from the metal of the first metal sheet (1) by deforming, in a drawing direction (Z), the edge area of a first hole (4) located in the first metal sheet (1) into a second, larger hole (5) located in the second metal sheet (2), whereby the second hole (5) located in the second metal sheet (2) is, in particular, gradually enlarged with regard to its diameter in the drawing direction (Z). The invention provides that the tubular rivet (3) is shorter in length in the drawing direction (Z) than the thickness of the second metal sheet (2). To this end, the thickness tolerance of commercially available metal sheets is taken into account and damages to the tools and/or the formation of chips is/are prevented.

The first and second components of the ultrasonic waveguide or blade are formed as complementary components which engage each other with a complementary fitting. Then a compressed fit over the connection union is formed by an electromagnetic metal forming operation which compressively deforms a female coupling member over the connection union. Abstract: An improved crimp joint for joining components of gas or fluid distribution systems is disclosed. The joint is particularly suited for use with components made from low ductility materials including die cast metals. The joint comprises a flange formed by a first joined component and a second component that defines a second mating surface and a lip that is configured to closely surround at least a portion of the flange when the flange is positioned adjacent to the second mating surface. The joint is formed by deforming the lip to overlie the flange, capturing the flange between the deformed lip and the second mating surface. The flange includes a bead formed near the periphery of the flange on a surface against which the lip is deformed to abut to form the crimp joint. The bead is sized to deform and engage the lip thereby increasing the strength of the crimp joint.
