Abstract: A rotational spring clip is provided for connecting a male component to a female component. The spring clip is pivotally secured to a female component. The male component includes a male member that extends through a hole in the female component. The spring clip is then rotated to engage the male component with a structure that includes two spaced apart legs that define an open mouth. The legs of the clip are trapped between a flange formed at the outer distal end of the male member that extends through and beyond the female component. The legs of the clip are then frictionally trapped between the flange of the male member and an outer surface of the female component.

Abstract: A fitting space having an annular opening, in which an elastic ring whose diameter of a section is D is to be fitted, is formed between a pin-press-fit hole of a link and an exposed end portion of a pin. A link inner wall face and a pin outer peripheral face in the fitting space are formed with tapered faces whose diameters decrease as they go toward an inmost of the fitting space at angles &agr; and &bgr; (&agr;>&bgr;) with respect to the axial line of the pin, respectively. The elastic ring contacts with the respective tapered faces in the fitting space at the angles &agr; and &bgr; with respect to a perpendicular passing a center of its section. Dimensions d1 and d2 between contact points at the respective tapered faces and a horizontal line passing the center of the section of the elastic ring, the diameter D of the section of the elastic ring, and the angles &agr; and &bgr; have a relation of &agr;>&bgr;, D>d1+d2 (where d1=D/2·cos &agr;, d2=D/2·cos &bgr;).

  • Patent number: 5683200
Abstract: One end of a flexible cable of specified length attached to the end of a shaft and the other end attached to a light-weight and disengageable restraint anchor with a wedge-shaped cross section within a tube. The shaft cannot be removed from the tube, nor can cable be cut, because the anchor is located at a depth in tube greater than the specified length of cable. Anchor is comprised of an inner and an outer piece and operably attached to cable via the inner piece. Outer surface of outer piece essentially conforms to the tube inner diameter. During normal operation (random vibration and impact) the anchor is held in a specific location by a low-force radial force means comprised of a metal snap ring pressing outwards on outer piece. During an undesired removal, the inner piece and outer piece together provide a high-force radial constraint by means of wedge-shaped cross section such that any amount of tension on cable will be insufficient to move anchor from specified location.

Abstract: A joint assembly interconnecting first and second rotatable shafts includes an engaging member mounted on a shaft portion of the first rotatable shaft, a tubular assembly including a first tubular member in which the shaft portion is coaxially inserted and which has an engaged member for engaging the engaging member, and a second tubular member coupled to the second rotatable shaft, and an urging assembly disposed in the first tubular member for normally urging the first tubular member and the first rotatable shaft axially away from each other to keep the engaging member and the engaged member in engagement with each other. The engaged member has a central through hole through which the first rotatable shaft is inserted, and holes extending radially from the central through holes for allowing the engaging member to be axially inserted therethrough, for thereby permitting the first rotatable shaft to be connected to and disconnected from the joint assembly.

  • Patent number: 4832540
Abstract: A reconditioned tool comprises a cylindrical insert cut from a damaged tool, such as a hog mill, with a milling face formed on one end and a transverse dovetail tenon cut in the other end. The dovetail tenon engages a transverse dovetail mortise in the end face of a cylindrical holder. A transverse slot in the holder splits the end of the holder into two axially extending end sections each of which includes one-half of the dovetail mortise. A clamping device, such as a bolt, draws the two end sections of the holder together to pull the insert firmly against the end faceof the holder through wedging action of the two halves of the dovetail mortise against the dovetail tenon. A locking pin inserted through aligned transverse grooves in the holder and insert prevents a lateral displacement of the insert relative to the holder.

  • Patent number: 4798511
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly mounting a loader on a tractor which eliminates need for loose connecting pins or bolts and tools. A pair of slotted brackets include sliding wedge blocks which automatically secure the mast post pins in position during mounting. The mast post pins are moved into the slots, and then the forward portion of the loader frame is rotated upwardly about the axis of the pins to engage forward mounting structure. The tractor is then driven forward to slide the mast post pins into the respective slotted brackets. Thereafter, the boom cylinders are actuated to rock the loader frame about the forward mounting structure and move the mast post pins into vertically disposed portions of the slots and to permit the wedge blocks to slide into their latching positions. A handle operated cam arrangement moves the block away from the slot portion for dismounting the loader.

  • Patent number: 4783034
Abstract: The invention is a shaped base plate assembly onto which one or more separate units may be detachably mounted. One common latch plate, bolted to the base plate, fixes all the separate units in place in fixed relation to each other and to the base plate. The invention may be employed to mount four separate transformers to a common base plate. Each transformer is fitted with appendages such as four cylindrical legs, each leg being shaped with a circular undercut of reduced cross-section adjacent the free end of the leg. The base plate is formed with sets of keyhole-shape or teardrop-shape holes, with each set of holes located to accommodate the legs of a given transformer. When all four transformers have been inserted and then slid into the latched position, a latch plate is fastened by one latch screw to the base plate. The latch plate is of a shape and size to abut against at least one leg of each transformer and to bias the undercut section of each transformer leg snugly against an edge of a base plate hole.

Abstract: The shovel for an excavator has teeth arranged at a distance apart from one another on its digging edge. The areas of the edge of the shovel between the teeth are equipped with caps that are relatively resistant to wear and are put on in such a manner that they can be replaced, and have a short hook-like projection which engages under the edge of the shovel and a long leg which fits over the edge of the shovel. Secured to the upper surface of the shovel between the teeth of the shovel are retaining pieces which can fit together with the legs of the caps when the caps are put onto the edge of the shovel and which cooperate with them in an interengaging manner to prevent the legs of the caps from being lifted off from the upper surface of the shovel. Detachable securing members hold the legs of the caps and the retaining pieces together in the direction in which they can be fit together.

  • Patent number: 4699565
Abstract: A lift truck load handling attachment having a quick-disconnect hook assembly for quick mounting or demounting of the attachment on a lift truck carriage. The hook assembly comprises a hook mounting member fastened to the rearwardly-facing surface of the frame of the load-handling attachment, slideably mounting an upwardly-facing hook for vertical reciprocation of the hook relative to the mounting member. The hook and mounting member respectively have elongate, vertically-oriented interlocking slides for permitting such vertical reciprocation while preventing rearward movement of the hook relative to the mounting member. A locking pin is selectively insertable transversely to limit downward movement of the hook relative to the mounting member, and the vertical slides and pin are located below the engagement surface of the hook when in its engaged position so as to permit direct abutment between the front of the lift truck carriage and rear of the attachment frame.
