  • Patent number: 5933966
Abstract: A lawn and garden tool, such as a string trimmer, includes a lower housing, an upper housing having one or more axial channels interconnected with one or more circumferential channels disposed on an interior surface thereof and a shaft connected between the upper housing and the lower housing. A boss is located on an exterior surface of the shaft and is disposed within the channels such that the boss is capable of traveling back and forth between the interconnected axial and circumferential channels. Movement of the boss within one of the axial channels telescopes the shaft while movement of the boss within one of the circumferential channels rotates the shaft and, thereby, rotates the lower housing with respect to the upper housing. The shaft may be moved from a locked position upon actuation of a push-button mechanism located on the upper housing of the string trimmer.

Abstract: An adaptor for quickly connecting and releasing a T-shaped bar which holds a mop head and a mop handle to form a complete mop for use. The T-shaped bar has a horizontal base portion and a vertical threaded portion. The horizontal base portion is adapted to the mop head, while the vertical threaded portion is adapted to the adaptor. Abstract: A lock including a lock bolt (12) equipped with a locking body (14) of cylindrical overall shape intended to be locked by snap-fitting into a locking orifice (16) of complementary shape made in a striker plate (18). The lock bolt (12) additionally includes an anti-hammer ring (76) surrounding a region of the locking body (14) which, when the lock bolt (12) is locked, is in contact with the periphery of the locking orifice (16). As a preference, the body (14) is equipped with a releasable snap-fitting mechanism including bearing limits (40) for axial bearing which are intended to interact with a first face (36) of the striker plate, and at least one retractable locking ball (42) intended to interact with a second face (38) of the striker plate. When the lock bolt (12) is locked, the anti-hammer ring (76) extends axially between the bearing elements (40) and the ball (42), lying adjacent to the first face (36) of the striker plate.

  • Patent number: 5692855
Abstract: The coupler is attached to the boom of a tractor or other vehicle and enables the boom to be quickly and automatically connected to an implement such as a loader bucket. The coupler includes spring-loaded and laterally shiftable pins which automatically latch to the implement when the coupler is shifted forwardly toward the implement. Unlatching of the pins is effected by manually turning an operating handle. The operating handle is connected to the pins by laterally rigid links which cause movement of the handle to follow movement of the pins in all positions of the pins so that the position of the handle serves as a visual indicator as to whether the pins are latched or unlatched.

  • Patent number: 5688068
Abstract: In a phase adjustment fixing apparatus for a cam, a cam fixing shaft is supported by a frame to freely move and has a clamp for clamping a cam at one end portion. A pressure unit is slidably supported on the cam fixing shaft and has a slidably supported lever. A spring member is interposed between the other end portion of the cam fixing shaft and the pressure unit. A sliding element is arranged at a swinging end of the lever to slide on a surface of the frame. An actuator swings the lever to move the sliding element between a cam fixing position where the sliding element slightly goes across a dead center and a cam fixed state releasing position where the sliding element largely comes across the dead center. A dead center is a position where the sliding element crosses a center line of the cam fixing shaft.

  • Patent number: 5685607
Abstract: An office chair seat carrier includes a seat platform carrier and a back rest carrier pivotally connected about parallel rotatable axes to a carrier part. A stack of lamellar disks is pivotally connected between the carrier part, seat platform carrier, and back rest carrier for holding the carriers in place by frictional contact. The stack of lamellar disks is linked with a holding member rigidly attached to the carrier part. Frictional contact is established by activating an actuator lever which slides a clamping member against the stack of lamellar disks. The clamping member applies a lateral clamping force upon the stack of lamellar disks forcing the disks together. Frictional contact is broken only after the actuator lever releases the clamping force and a mechanical force is exerted on the seat platform carrier or back rest carrier.

Abstract: A spring-biased latch is disclosed for removably attaching a first component, such as a seat, to an elongate member, such as the tubular frame of a wheelchair. The spring-biased latch comprises a body portion having a top and a pair of leg members that are adapted to removably receive an elongate member, a catch arm pivotally attached to the top of the body portion, and a release lever pivotally attached to the top of the body portion. The catch arm and release lever are configurable in a first position where the inboard end of the release lever abuts the inboard end of the catch arm such that the catch arm braces a portion of the wheelchair seat between the outboard end of the catch arm and the tubular frame of the wheelchair.

Abstract: A socket for releasably supporting the journal of a roller in a printing machine is disclosed. In one embodiment, the socket includes: a mounting; an adjusting screw threadably received in the mounting; a locking lever rotatably coupled to the adjusting screw; and a spring element concentrically mounted on the adjusting screw between the locking lever and the free end of the screw such that turning the adjusting screw changes the degree of compression of the spring. The locking lever is coupled to the adjusting screw for movement between locked and unlocked positions. In the locked position, the locking lever is biased into engagement with the roller journal by the bias of the spring to secure the roller within the socket. In the unlocked position, the locking lever is pivoted out of engagement with the journal such that the roller can be easily removed and replaced.
