  • Patent number: 5632568
Abstract: A coupling for axially fixing a hub on a shaft has locking members slidable in slots of the hub and which are engaged in recesses in the shaft by a collar which holds the locking members in the recesses so as to fix the hub axially on the shaft. In a released position, a shoulder on the collar catches behind a ledge formed on the hub, but only when the shaft is removed from the hub. When the shaft is in the hub, it cams against uncocking members in the form of balls which prevent the collar from being tilted so as to engage the collar shoulder with the ledge on the hub.

  • Patent number: 5622729
Abstract: A corner finisher spreads mastic on a joint formed at an inside corner of drywall. The drywall corner finisher is conventionally used with a plurality of alternative tools for supplying a plurality of coats of mastic in different thicknesses. Therefore, a quick disconnect coupler is provided to rapidly change the tools and yet to hold them so securely that there is almost no chance for an unwanted disconnect between the drywall corner finisher and one of the alternative tools for supplying mastic. The invention provides such a coupler in the form of a ball and socket behind a sliding locking plate having a key hole slot in it for receiving a ball on a mastic delivery device.

  • Patent number: 5607250
Abstract: A coupling comprising a male and female half (11, 12) that are coupled together in axial alignment. A keying portion (13) is provided at one end of the male half (11) which has at least one keying element (14) with a bearing surface (20). The female half (12) has an opening (17) located on one side with recesses (18) therein shaped for location of the keying element (14). The opening (17) allows the keying portion (14) to engage the opening (17) in a direction that is transverse to the aligned axis. The recess (18) has abutment surfaces (21) against which the bearing surfaces (20) locate when the keying portion (14) is engaged within the recess (18). The bearing (20) and abutment (21) surfaces prevent separation of the coupling when placed under tension along the aligned axis. The invention provides a simplified means for connection of the coupling while at the same time allowing relative rotation between the male and female halves (11, 12).

Located interiorly of the housing is an end fitting and a collet with the collet being tightly pressed into engagement with the inner tube when the housing is in a retracted position. Longitudinal movement of the housing to an extended position will free the collet from the end fitting thereby permitting telescopic sliding movement of the tubes.

  • Patent number: 5482394
Abstract: A winding spring is preset in a connector, with its winding portion fit at an attaching shaft of the connector, in such a manner that its one end is engaged with the connector and its other end on the side of the fitting lever is engaged with a provisional locking protrusion provided on the connector. The fitting lever is rotated around a supporting shaft of the connector so that a sharp tip of a locking releasing body provided on the fitting lever releases the other end of the winding spring from the provisional protrusion, and the other end of the winding spring, because of its resilient returning operation, is engaged with a locking portion provided at the exterior of the locking releasing body. Thus, the winding spring can be mounted in the connector so that its lever side engagement end is surely engaged with the fitting lever.

  • Patent number: 5479675
Abstract: An elongated dovetail tongue on the top surface of the trowel blade slips endwise into a closely conforming groove formed in the base of the removable handle until its end abuts a shoulder at the end of the groove. The tongue is longer than the groove, and a keeper is adapted to slip onto and abut the end of the tongue protruding from the groove. A boss on the end of a resilient arm extending from the keeper engages a detent in the base, locking the keeper to the handle, immobilizing the tongue, and thereby securing the handle to the blade. Disengaging the detent mechanism releases the keeper and allows it to be removed and the handle readily separated from the blade.

Abstract: A side strut 6 for the lower steering arm of a three-point attaching device of a tractor is telescopic and has a first telescopic member 14 and a second telescopic member 15 which are able to carry out relative movements relative to one another along an adjustment axis 16. A locking pawl 19 may allow maximum possible relative movement or a limited amount of travel. Complete locking is also possible. For setting the various positions which the locking pawl 19 is able to assume relative to the telescopic members 14, 15, a fixing device 31 is provided which takes account of the respective stop regions 24, 30 for the locking pawl 19 or which, for the purpose of allowing the entire relative movement between the maximum limits, may be disengaged from the locking stops 23. This measure, in addition to permitting standard adjustment within the limits of the usual floating movement, allows a limited floating movement. Furthermore, it achieves complete locking and fixing in this position.
