Publication number: 20130084129Abstract: A gear mounting portion of a rotating shaft includes a shaft portion, with a D-shaped cross-section, engaged with a connecting portion of a gear having a D-shaped cross-section; one flexible portion provided along the axial direction; and a retaining portion provided at a tip of the flexible portion. The retaining portion protrudes outwards with respect to the shaft portion, and the shaft portion is engaged with the connecting portion after the retaining portion has passed through a second hole portion of a hollow shaft. The flexible portion remains bent while the retaining portion passes through the second hole portion of the hollow shaft. Once the shaft portion engages with the first hole portion of the connecting portion, the flexible portion ceases to bend and engages with the gear. As a result, without damaging the rotating shaft, the gear is reliably prevented from coming free from the rotating shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2012Publication date: April 4, 2013Inventor: Hideaki IKEDA

Patent number: 8375543Abstract: A connector includes a housing having a bore with a housing groove disposed on an inside surface of the bore with a groove establishing a release angle between a housing groove bottom and a bore inside surface. A retainer defines a spring cavity between a retainer and the release angle and a circular radial canted coil spring is disposed in the spring cavity. A pin having a tapered end and a body diameter sized for sliding engagement with the bore is provided which includes a circumferential groove in the pin body for receiving the coil spring upon insertion of the pin into the bore. A circumferential groove includes a load angle for rotating the coil spring in an orientation in which the major spring axis is parallel to the release angle upon initial withdrawal of the pin from the bore. The coil is further compressed along the spring minor axis and expands radially upon continued withdrawal of the pin from the bore.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2012Date of Patent: February 19, 2013Assignee: Bal Seal Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Peter J. Patent number: 8365726Abstract: A humidifier includes a tub. The tub includes a base plate; a tub base; a seal between the base plate and the tub base; and a latch mechanism that connects the base plate to the tub base so that the base plate is engaged with the seal. The latch mechanism may include an overcenter latch pivotably attached to the tub base and latch tabs formed on the base plate, the overcenter latch engaging the latch tabs in the connected position to connect the base plate to the tub base. The latch mechanism may alternatively include resilient tabs on the tub base, the resilient tabs elastically biasing the base plate toward the tub base upon connection of the base plate to the tub base. The resilient tabs may include tamper evident projections that indicate that the base plate has been disconnected from the tub base. The base plate may be stainless steel and be formed by stamping. The base plate may include a stamped ring. The humidifier further includes a tub lid configured to cover the tub to form a water container.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2008Date of Patent: February 5, 2013Assignee: ResMed LimitedInventors: John Michael Snow, Simon Robert Cork, John Zekic, Benjamin John Hunter

Patent number: 8337162Abstract: Quick attachable and detachable mounting arms for ceiling fans. A first version has flat headed fasteners initially attached to one end of mounting arms, with key-hole slots in the endshield of the ceiling fan motor. The user raises the mounting arm so that the flat headed fasteners fits through the larger openings in the keyhole slots and then pulls the mounting arm outward until the arm locks in place by the smaller opening portions of the keyhole slots. Rubber type gaskets and washers help lock and hold the mounting arms in place. The flat headed fasteners can also be located on the endshields with the keyhole slots on mounting arms. A second embodiment includes inwardly deformable springably snapable fasteners that can be located on the ends of the mounting arms which can deform inwardly and expand after passing through slots on the endshield of the rotor. Alternatively, the fasteners can be located on the bottom of the endshield with the receiving slots on the ends of the mounting arms.Type: GrantFiled: August 11, 2010Date of Patent: December 25, 2012Assignee: Chien Luen Industries Co., Ltd., Inc.Inventors: Charles E.
