  • Patent number: 11708638
Abstract: A system consisting of a pencil-type sacrificial anode rod and a companion plug for use in, e.g., marine engines, generators, and other machinery or fluid-containing components requiring the presence of sacrificial anodes to prevent galvanic and electrolytic corrosion. The anode rod is securely held in the plug via a push-to-connect mechanism that allows the anode rod to rotate when acted on by a torsional force. This mechanism allows for extraction of the plug through pure tensile forces on the anode rod, thus preventing the breaking of stuck anode rods through torsional forces or stuck anode rods being left behind in engine components due to unthreading of the anode rod from the plug. Electrical continuity between the anode rod and plug is continuously maintained via metal-to-metal contact.

  • Patent number: 11613895
Abstract: A securing system for use with glass panels is provided. The securing system provides clamping and securing forces to a panel held within a base shoe system, e.g., of a frameless glass guard railing. The securing system includes a back plate with separately tapered portions, and a shim assembly including tapered shim members. Each tapered shim member overlays a separately tapered portion of the back plate and is laterally positionable thereupon. Downward forces applied to the shim members are translated into lateral forces causing the shim members to move laterally in relation to the back plate. These lateral translations cause the system's width to increase to secure the panel within the base shoe and/or decrease to release the panel from the base shoe. The system also includes tools to apply said downward forces.

Abstract: A locking device for a telescopic tube assembly having an outer tube and an inner tube slidably received in the outer tube includes a securing ring securable inside the inner tube, a friction element adapted to be securely mounted on one distal end of the inner tube and having legs deformably extending out and a wedge adapted to be selectively and movably received inside the outer tube to force the legs to extend toward an inner periphery of the outer tube so as to increase friction between the legs and the outer tube. Thus movement of the inner tube in the outer tube is selectively controlled.

Abstract: A gauge mounting device (20) for an improved mounting a gauge (17) to an instrument panel (19) including an annular gauge bracket assembly comprised of a gauge bracket having an inner tapering thread profile forming a helical pitch, a gripper ring disposed within the inner tapering thread profile having a plurality of gripping teeth radially aligned on a inner surface of the gripper ring and freely moveable along the inner tapering thread profile. The gauge bracket engaged onto a conical or cylindrical gauge housing having a gauge disposed therein and preventing further rotation of the conical gauge housing forming a stationery helix. The gauge bracket rotated causing forward movement by the helical pitch traveling along the stationery helix from the gripper ring resulting in increasing gripping force applied to the conical or cylindrical gauge housing and increasing sandwiching force between the gauge bracket and the conical or cylindrical gauge housing.

  • Patent number: 6908252
Abstract: An integrated joint assembly fastener is described for removably securing two adjoining members together along flat mating surfaces. A housing is provided with an off-center circular bore in which a rotatable element is held captive. The bottom end of the rotatable element has an offset connecting post which extends perpendicular to a slit provided in a rear sidewall of the housing. Stationary wedges on the housing front project from opposite side of the slit. A pair of connecting dowel head sections project from the front opening and are engaged by the offset connecting post of the rotatable element. The dowel head sections have a gripping ridge section at a free end and an inclined abutment formation for sliding engagement against the wedges. By rotating the rotatable element, the gripping ridge sections of the dowel head are pulled back and wedged outwardly, laterally.

  • Patent number: 6718707
Abstract: An assembly for compressing a foundation piling prevents individual piling segments from sliding out of alignment. The assembly is an anchoring device that is lowered into a passageway running through a concrete or steel foundation piling to a desired depth. The anchoring device is suspended to a cable and has a center section and at least one moveable wing or wedge attached to the center section. Then a weight is dropped onto the anchoring device. The force of the impact causes the wings on the anchoring device to slide down and extend away from the center section. The force of the impact also forces the wings to grip the piling because the anchoring assembly is wider than the passageway when the wings slide down the center section. Tension is applied to the cable, which is now secured to the piling by the anchoring device. The tension in the cable creates a compressive state on the piling which prevents the individual segments from sliding out of alignment.

  • Patent number: 6634830
Abstract: A foundation repair piling made up of segments is post tensioned by a cable fed into the segments after the piling is installed. A cable anchor serves as a base segment of multiple concrete piling segments. After installing all the concrete segments on top of the base segment, a cable is inserted into passages in the segments. The cable is threaded through the completely installed piling segments and into the cable anchor. After the cable bottoms out in the cable anchor, upward tension is applied to the cable. As the cable is pulled, cable lock members in the cable anchor increase gripping pressure even as the cable tension increases, thereby solidly anchoring the end of the cable in the cable anchor. After the desired tension is reached, the cable is terminated at the top of the last segment. The tension is held by a termination lug at the top end of the cable.

  • Patent number: 6604886
Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a light weight telescope assembly for bicycles that is readily adjustable by riders in the field and that provides smooth action of the suspension system. This telescope assembly contains roller bearings to reduce stiction and prevent torsional losses. The adjustment mechanism includes an adjustable outer race shim composed of two oppositely tapered races moving longitudinally in relation to each other, thereby causing their combined thickness to expand or contract thus allowing the bearing pre-load to be adjustable. Integral with this adjustable pre-load mechanism is a bayonet-style collar whose design enables bearing pre-load adjustment from a position that is readily accessible by consumers. In addition, this collar enables greater geometric latitude on the shape of the inner tube, thereby enabling significant strengthening of the telescoping assembly using light weight materials and lower cost manufacturing processes that hitherto have been unachievable.
