  • Patent number: 5123771
Abstract: A coupling fixture provided with an outer ring having first and second tapered surfaces, an inner ring having third and fourth tapered surfaces, a wedge-like ring nut interposed between the outer and inner rings and axially inwardly thereof and having tapered surfaces engageable with the first and third tapered surfaces. A wedge-like ring washer is interposed between the second and fourth tapered surfaces and axially outwardly thereof and having tapered surfaces engageable with the second and fourth tapered surfaces. Screw bolts are screwable into the ring nut to expand the outer ring in diameter and contract the inner ring in diameter, each cone angle of the tapered surfaces of the washer and of the tapered surfaces engageable therewith is made larger than that of the cone angle of the tapered surfaces of the ring nut and the first and third tapered surfaces engageable therewith and makes the washer more readily removable from the outer and inner rings when the screw bolts are loosened after being tightened.

  • Patent number: 5083889
Abstract: An apparatus including a plurality of jack bolts which are threadedly engaged with openings in a flange on a fastener to stress a shank part of the fastener. The flange can be a collar retained on a shaft by a retainer, a nut on a threaded end of a bolt, or the head portion of a bolt. The jack bolts can be arranged in a flange on an end of a tension rod to stress arbors against opposite sides of a roll sleeve to form a roll assembly for use in a rolling mill. The apparatus includes structure for preventing escape of the jack bolts from the flange which is particularly advantageous when the apparatus is secured to moving machinery where the presence of escaped jack bolts could cause damage to the machinery.

  • Patent number: 5067847
Abstract: A clamping set is provided wherein elastic deformation of the peripheral collars is no longer necessary to produce engagement of the same. The screw ring can be pushed across the cylindrical outer peripheral surface of the outer taper ring until its inwardly projecting peripheral collar bears against the outwardly projecting peripheral collar of the outer taper ring. These can then be pushed together across the inner taper ring from its thin-walled end until the inner thread of the screw ring comes into contact with the external thread of the inner taper ring and fastening begins. All interacting parts can, thus, be designed to be substantially stronger, since they no longer need to be deformed to produce engagement. Accordingly, the forces which can be applied are also greater.

  • Patent number: 5044817
Abstract: A threaded bush assembly for receiving and coupling a shaft to a rotatable hub includes a tubular sleeve member which is located within the rotatable hub and a tubular bush member adapted to be received in either end of the sleeve member. The bush member has a central bore in which the shaft is received and is axially moveable relative to the sleeve member by means of screw threaded members. The inner circumferential surface of the sleeve member and the outer circumferential surface of the bush member each have a helical thread formed thereon. The cross-section of both threads is defined by a pair of mutually opposed tapered surfaces. The two threads are screw threadedly engageable with one another, yet define a gap therebetween which enables relative axial movement of the two threads with respect to one another such that upon axial movement of the bush member relative to the sleeve member, one tapered surface of one thread wedges against the facing tapered surface of the other thread.

In order to, on the one hand, achieve a surface transition from the lid to the adjacent outer wall of the body that is flush with the shell of the body and, on the other hand, ensure a surrounding, constant gap between the lid and the body opening, the hinge arm that faces the body recess is held in position at the body recess, by an adjusting device.

  • Patent number: 4781486
Abstract: A shaft coupling comprising a joint element and two rings. The joint element has internal cylindrical parts, an external cylindrical part and a base connecting portion. The base connecting portion connects the base ends of both internal cylindrical parts and the external cylindrical parts. The rings are inserted into annular cavities enclosed by the internal cylindrical parts, external cylindrical parts and the base connecting portion. The internal cylindrical parts have tapered outer surfaces. The rings have tapered inner surfaces. The two rings are axially connected by set bolts. When the rings are tightened, the inner surfaces of the rings press the internal cylindrical parts and the outer surfaces of the rings press the external cylindrical parts.

  • Patent number: 4776834
Abstract: Centrifuges are known which have a working head placed on a shaft driven by a motor, and in which a longitudinally slotted sleeve is disposed between the shaft and a central bore in the working head. This sleeve is expanded against the bore by a conical spreader driven by a threaded element screwed onto the end of the drive shaft. To create a tight and wobble-free coupling between the working head and the drive shaft of the centrifuge which will be secure even after long use and frequently changing torque, but which will assure easy release, the shaft has a tapered end and on this end, which reaches into the central bore of the working head, is seated the spreader, which is in the form of a bushing with a tapering bore, and the threaded element has on its outer circumference projections which engage indentations in the spreader.

Abstract: A fastening device for adjustably mounting a drawer front plate, a includes a suppporting part arranged at each side of the drawer and having a fastening flange aligned vertically to the front plate and a holding flange aligned parallel to the front plate. The holding flanges extend at angles with respect to the fastening flanges. Holding parts are fastened to the front plate by means of screws. The holding parts include hooks that are engageable into the holding flanges. A tightening member is held at each supporting part. The tightening members are pressable against the holding parts and thus provide a bracing engagement between the holding parts and the supporting parts.

  • Patent number: 4726595
Abstract: A shaft sealing device has a body containing a spherical portion of a sealing element which also has a tubular portion extending outside the body. The shaft extends through both portions of the sealing element. A pair of annular wiper seals is located within the body and bear against the spherical portion of the sealing element. The wiper seals are separated by a cylindrical spacer. A thrust washer urges the wiper seals into contact with the spherical portion of the sealing element. A further sealing element surrounds the shaft outside the body and is partly engaged in a recess in the tubular portion of the sealing element. The sealing element has a curved outer surface and is urged into sealing contact with the recess in the tubular portion of the sealing element by means of a clamp nut screwed onto the outside of the tubular portion of the sealing element.
