  • Patent number: 5385422
Abstract: A pivot/rotational device comprises a pivot pin having a head and a tubular, cylindrical shank of reduced diameter projecting from the head. A two-part bushing assembly comprises a ring and a sleeve. The ring encircles the shank. The sleeve is formed of anti-friction material and is disposed concentrically between and in surface-to-surface contact with the ring and the shank. The sleeve has a radially outwardly extending collar at one end disposed between and in surface-to-surface contact with the head and one end of the ring. The tubular shank has an open end opposite the head provided with a radially outwardly extending flange which overlies the other end of the ring. The ring is restrained from axial movement between the collar and the flange. The sleeve may also have a second collar between the flange and the ring.

  • Patent number: 5354068
Abstract: A broadhead for an arrow having a locking mechanism which insures true alignment of the longitudinal axis of the broadhead with the longitudinal axis of the shaft of the arrow. A securing member has longitudinal slots extending from opposite ends thereof. Each slot extends more than half the length of the securing member. The securing member is positioned over and screwed to an inner member, which is one of the arrow shaft and broadhead, and fitted within an outer member, which is the other of the arrow shaft and broadhead. When the inner member is screwed to the securing member the latter expands radially pressing it firmly against the inside of the outer member to secure the broadhead to the shaft. Because the securing member has longitudinally overlapping slots extending from opposite ends the radial expansion is uniform over the length of the securing member.

  • Patent number: 5344252
Abstract: This key comprises a pair of elongated blocks each having a tapered recess; a tapered pin adapted to be inserted in a tubular tapered portion which is formed by bringing the pair of blocks together in such a manner that the tapered recesses confront, and mutually displaceable in the axial direction; and a clamping member adapted to be screwed into a threaded portion provided on one end of the tapered pin or the tubular tapered portion. The key obtained by assembling these parts can be fitted into a key groove provided between a driving member and a driven member. The clamping member is rotated to mutually displace the tapered pin with respect to the tubular tapered portion in the axial direction, thereby separating the blocks from each other, thus pressing the outer walls of the blocks against the inner wall of the key groove. As a result, the key is firmly fitted into the key groove, and the drive member and the driven member can be securely coupled together with a higher reliability.

Abstract: In the clamping assembly of this invention, whereby a rotary cutting tool is concentrically clamped to an untapered shaft that carries and drives it, a sleeve-like radially elastic collet, received in a bore through a hub-like tool body part, has a threaded end portion which projects axially beyond the bore and on which a nut is rotatable. The collet has an untapered radially inner surface and a tapered radially outer surface that progressively increases in diameter from the thread to its opposite end. The bore, all along its length, defines a matingly tapering inner wedging surface in the body part. The collet is confined to axial shifting relative to the body part. The nut is confined to rotation by a radially outwardly projecting circumferential flange on it, overlain by an annular captivating plate secured to the body part.

Abstract: A clamping arrangement includes taper sleeves which are movable axially towards each other and upon movement in a specific direction open outward radially, so that an outer component can be clamped on a shaft. The axial displacement of the taper sleeves towards each other takes place by means of a screw sleeve with threads of differing pitch, engaging in corresponding threads on the ends of the taper sleeves lying outside a clamping region. The clamping can be produced or released by turning the screw sleeve in one direction or the other.

Abstract: A coupling device for a torque transmitting, longitudinally displaceable coupling of two shaft parts formed by toothed profiles is arranged to ensure backlash free meshing of the toothed profiles in the direction of rotation. A clamping and expanding members are respectively allocated on the shaft side to the slit bush end areas, which clamping and expanding members come into mesh with the shaft parts during coupling of the latter and, under the action of an axially directed contact force, avoid, by compression and expansion respectively of the slit bush end areas, flank clearance between the toothed profiles coming into mesh with one another.
