Abstract: A retraction barrier can abut objects in the environment for safeguarding. The retraction barrier has multiple longitudinal poles separate from each other and multiple lateral poles separate from each other. The longitudinal poles are connected with the longitudinal poles so that the retraction barrier forms a grid, making the retraction barrier capable of isolating something. The longitudinal poles and lateral poles are each a retractable pole. Lengths of the longitudinal poles and the lateral poles can be changed so that each end of the longitudinal poles and the lateral poles can abut an object in the environment, so the retraction barrier can be secured with objects of any dimensions and shapes. For storage of the retraction barrier, the lateral poles and the longitudinal poles are retracted, so that the volume of the retraction barrier is lessened for ease in carriage.

  • Patent number: 7806623
Abstract: An insert for an external fixation has two jaws for clamping a rod-shaped element. The insert includes a locking element and is an angled piece having two free ends, with at least one engagement edge for engagement into the rod-shaped element being provided at its one free end. The insert has a recess or bore for engagement with a locking shaft of the clamp provided at the free end thereof that lies opposite to the free end having the rod engagement edge. The insert is angled so that it may extend through a passageway in one of the jaws and into a cavity formed in the jaw for receiving the rod. The insert rod engaging edges are tapered to bite into the rod to prevent its movement.

  • Patent number: 7708736
Abstract: An articulation element consisting of a plurality of adjustable jaw pairs for the purpose of fixating the relative position of coupled bars and/or bone pins of an external bone fixator. Each of the adjustable jaws consists of a pair of hemispherical jaw elements contained within a spherical housing. A passage is eccentrically arranged through the jaw elements to accept the pin or bar. The jaw elements have interposed between them a spring element that serves to bias the jaw elements in the closed position. Pins serve to provisionally lock the jaw elements in the closed position. Spring loaded buttons act to release the pins thereby allowing the jaw elements to open accepting the pin or bar. The jaws are attached in a back to back fashion through the use of a threaded collar which acts as a turnbuckle pulling the jaws together when tightened.

  • Patent number: 7566038
Abstract: A clamp for attaching a medical device to an OR table rail, including two closable clamp jaws that close to an extreme position that leaves inadequate room for the rail. A handle actuates the jaws apart, and a spring biases them together through a range of jaw positions. A lock member is biased to swing through a range of lock positions in which it progressively engages and locks the jaw mechanism through its range of jaw positions. A pair of bars carries the medical device on the clamp, and allows it to be adjustably positioned with respect to the rail.

  • Patent number: 7343831
Abstract: A clamp kit for motorcycles permitting a wide range of handlebar positions to fit the size of the rider, the comfort of the rider, or to change the riding style of the motorcycle. The clamp has two split rings, one for attaching to the fork tube of the motorcycle and one for accepting a handlebar. The clamp is rotatable to various positions on the fork tube to position the handlebar in a position, which is comfortable for the rider and does not interfere with the frame or component parts of the motorcycle. The height of the handlebars and the angle of the handlebars are easily adjustable by use of the second split ring on the clamp. The handlebars are spread apart and can rotate in case of an accident to improve motorcycle safety.

  • Patent number: 7320556
Abstract: A gripping device comprises a support body (2) within a sleeve (8), with the sleeve being mounted around the body for relative translational movement along a common axis thereof. A plurality of gripping elements (10, 12) are pivotally mounted in the body (2), the elements having lever arms (20, 22) projecting laterally from the boundary of the body. Translational movement of the sleeve (8) relative to the body (2) causes working engagement of the sleeve with the gripping element lever arms (20, 22), and movement of the lever arms to pivot the elements (10, 12) and close the elements around an item captured therebetween. Normally, the pivotal axes for the gripping elements (10, 12) are disposed within the support body (2), with the elements themselves projecting axially from an end thereof. The pivotal axes are normally substantialy parallel, and indeed the gripping elements may all be mounted for pivotal movement about the same common axis (18).

  • Patent number: 7314331
Abstract: A locking mechanism for a clamping assembly includes a roller locking mechanism, at least one clamping member and a shaft member for coupling the roller locking mechanism with the first clamping member. The roller mechanism includes a roller rotatably connected to a handle which contacts a bearing surface to place a compressive force on the first clamping member when the handle is actuated. Another locking mechanism includes a camming member having cam face with a sliding cam surface and a frictional cam surface adjacent to the sliding cam surface. The camming member produces a compressive force on the clamping member as the sliding cam surface contacts a bearing surface and increased static friction when the frictional cam surface contacts the bearing surface to help maintain the camming member in a locked position.

  • Patent number: 7290776
Abstract: An extension handle apparatus is provided for a wheeled chair which includes handle support tubes for supporting one or more wheeled-chair handles. The extension handle apparatus includes an extension support portion and an extension handle portion connected to the extension support portion. A pair of clamping plates are provided, wherein each clamping plate includes an extension-support reception region and a wheeled-chair-handle-support-tube reception region. Clamping fasteners are connected between the clamping plates, and a retention assembly is connected between the clamping plates for retaining the clamping plates in opposite positions with respect to each other. The wheeled-chair handles are a fixed distance from the wheeled chair. By using retrofitted extension handle apparatuses of the invention attached to the handle support tubes on the wheeled chair, the effective distance of extension handle portions from the wheeled chair can be adjusted as desired.
