Patent number: 5502943Abstract: A display frame work is described in terms of a display header, with upper and lower horizontal tubes and vertical end tubes to define a rectangular frame to which a flexible cloth, paper or plastic header panel is attached. Each of the horizontal members has a central hinge with a horizontal pintle from which leaves extend in opposite directions when the device is assembled. One of the leaves is fixed in a central tube; the other is constructed to permit the tube to which it is mounted to slide toward and away from the pintle. The fixed leaf has a locking tab projecting beyond the pintle, and the sliding travel of the tube that is slidably mounted is from a position clear of the locking tab to one embracing the locking tab. Outboard end sections of the horizontal members are hinged to the central tube members in a way similar to that of the two central tubes, but on hinges pintles of which are oriented perpendicularly to the central member hinge pintle. The tubes are hollow and open ended.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1994Date of Patent: April 2, 1996Assignee: Optima GraphicsInventor: Paul D. Hoffmann

Patent number: 5373583Abstract: A positionable mount is demonstrated as a headgear implement-mount (28) supporting an eyewear front (30) through a resilient appendage (68). The implement-mount includes a friction surface (50) cooperating with a headed stud (52) to establish a constraint-dimension (62). The appendage is formed with an edged-channel cross section and includes an elongated slot (76) for receiving the implement-mount headed stud. In engaging the implement-mount, the appendage cross section is torsionally, deformably constricted in a manner creating resiliently biased friction between the appendage edges (72) and the friction surface, thereby holding the eyewear implement in a selected position relative to the headgear. Because the appendage with implement-mount engagement is resiliently biased, the implement position may be hand adjusted. The appendage with implement-mount engagement may be influenced by a pair of hand operators (100).Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1992Date of Patent: December 20, 1994Inventor: Donald A. Birum

Patent number: 5145134Abstract: A tiltable turntable for supporting a display monitor, for example, has a support base, a monitor base, and a post of a substantially H-shaped cross section by which the support base and the monitor base are resiliently coupled to each other for relative tilting and rotational movement. The support base has two spaced stoppers. To assemble the tiltable turntable, the support base and the monitor base are sandwiched by the post, and the support base is turned with respect to the monitor base until a retaining member of the post rides over an inclined surface of one of the stoppers. When the retaining member of the post is positioned between the stoppers, the post is retained between the stoppers against dislodgment from the support base and limits the range of relative rotational movement between the support base and the monitor base. The support base and the monitor base are resiliently held together by the retaining member of the post.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1991Date of Patent: September 8, 1992Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kimio Hashimoto, Katsuyuki Ikoma, Koji Tsushima

A connecting device is employed to attach the boom mechanism to the standard which permits heightwise adjustment of the boom on the standard. The connecting mechanism includes a member having an L-shaped slot which receives a pair of pins extending from the boom. The length of one of the legs of the L-shaped slot is at least equal to the spacing between the pins and the other leg of the slot is longer than the spacing between the pins to lock the device in position when the pins are disposed in the other leg of the slot. The invention is disclosed as being used with a space divider such as a curtain which can be hung from the boom.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1976Date of Patent: February 13, 1979Inventor: Keivan Towfigh

Patent number: 4068961Abstract: A swivel joint is designed to provide limited and controlled movement in two orthogonal planes running through its symmetrical center. The three major parts of the swivel joint are molded from a material composition of polycarbon-glass-teflon. A swivel top mounts to the object to be provided with controlled movement. A swivel bottom mounts to a support. The swivel top and bottom are held together by a large, curved wafer and a nut and bolt arrangement. The swivel top and bottom interact with each other to provide controlled limited movement in the two orthogonal planes, simultaneously.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1976Date of Patent: January 17, 1978Assignee: Milgo Electronic CorporationInventors: John Steven Ebner, Francis Charles Pizzeri, Charles Grimes Sprecher, III

Patent number: 4027548Abstract: A remotely controlled mirror system employs a cable control system interconnecting a control unit with the mirror backing plate, the backing plate being pivotally mounted relative to the mirror housing by means of cooperating semi-spherical head and socket portions thereon, which permit pivotal adjustment of the mirror about the two axes which are mutually perpendicular to the cable control system at its point of attachment to the mirror backing plate. Pivotal movement of the mirror about another axis parallel to the cable control system is prevented or restricted by interference between a pin secured to the socketed member and the side walls or surfaces of a slot in the head.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1975Date of Patent: June 7, 1977Assignee: Mirrex, IncorporatedInventor: James M. Patent number: 4023604Abstract: The device comprises a rotating drum having flails secured to the outer surface thereof. It is mounted between arms extending from a truck or the like and can be raised and lowered hydraulically. The device is driven over a pile of small trees lying on the ground, with the drum rotating so that flails engage the branches and leaves, etc., and detaches them from the trunks, it being understood that the flails engage between adjacent trees as well as engaging branches which might be extending upwardly from the trunks.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1975Date of Patent: May 17, 1977Inventor: Michael Stadnick

Patent number: 4018101Abstract: A positioning device for a vehicle steering column which includes a stationary support structure formed from a pair of spaced plates, a moveable member adapted for attachment to the column and slidably received between the plates for translational and pivotal movement with respect to them, a fixed guide pin and a floating guide pin engaged in cooperating slots in the moveable member to control translational and pivotal movement, latching elements operable to fix the moving member in any pivotal or translational position, and a control lever operative to disable the latching elements to allow movement and further operative to apply a transverse locking force to the plates when the moveable member is in any selected position.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1975Date of Patent: April 19, 1977Assignee: Eaton CorporationInventor: William T.
