Articulate Joint Comprises Pivoted Clevis Or Channel Bar Patents (Class 403/79)
  • Patent number: 5183352
Abstract: A pivot joint is disclosed for pivoting together first and second members. The first at least is of channel section at the joint and the second seats within the first. The pivot joint has a joint body intermediate the first and second members. The joint body has a pair of inwardly extending trunnions each provided with a coaxial bore. Each trunnion cooperates with apertures in the second member and the coaxial bores in the trunnions are aligned with apertures in the first member. A pivot pin extends through the apertures of the first and second members and through the bores of the trunnions of the joint body. The pin is retained in the bores by positive engagement of portions of the pin with inwardly directed resilient collars in the trunnions of the joint body. A joint body for use in the pivot joint is also disclosed.

Abstract: In a device for coupling a cardan half-joint with a fixed structure, such as a device for the subsea anchoring of a structure which uses cardan joints, the improvement consisting in that the half joint is of the cross-beam type and the main forks are formed by two half shells and there is an undercut abutment having the shape of a poppet. A better distribution of the pull stresses on the members of the joint is thus obtained, means being also provided to prevent the rotation of the joint.

  • Patent number: 3978634
Abstract: To enable a scaffolding structure to serve horizontally curved structures such as storage tanks, a connection is provided to allow horizontally adjacent scaffold transom element to be relatively inclined to one another in a horizonal plane. The joint includes connection means including a wedge to engage a socket afforded by a scaffold upright and such connection means is pivotally mounted on a scaffold cross member, such as a transom element, which itself affords a socket for the connection of a further cross member, such as a ledger element. Alternatively, the connection means may be pivotally mounted on a part provided with two such sockets for the releasable connection of a transom element and a ledger element.

  • Patent number: 3976144
Abstract: An automatic reset plow assembly includes a plow frame drawn by an agricultural vehicle. A plow standard is pivotally connected to the underside of the frame to enable the plow share to pivot backwardly and upwardly upon engaging an obstruction in the soil. The plow standard is resiliently biased downwardly by a toggle link assembly having one link pivotally connected to the plow standard and a second link pivoted to the frame. The other ends of the two links are pivotally connected together and to a slide element to form the elbow of the toggle link. The slide element is slideably received along a guide member which is also pivotally mounted to the frame. A compression spring surrounds the guide and resiliently biases the slide element and toggle links to maintain the plow standard in a normally downwardly pivoted plowing position. Upon encountering an obstruction, the plow pivots rearwardly and collapses the toggle link assembly.

  • Patent number: 3965890
Abstract: A surgical retractor comprises a frame on which a plurality of retractor arm mounting members are mounted for movement along the frame, and retractor arms are carried by the mounting members for movement of the arms transversely of the frame, and collapsible and extensible retractor blades are carried by the arms. The retractor blades include a plurality of blade sections having interengagable stops thereon to limit extension of the sections, and the stops are selectively movable to inoperative position to enable disassembly of the blade sections. The blades also are provided with flexible guards to prevent damage to flesh engaged by the blades and a finger tab to facilitate collapse and extension of the blades.
