  • Patent number: 9310499
Abstract: Method for seismic prospecting using counter-rotating (207-208) eccentric-mass (201, 202) vibrator (CREMV) technology adapted as vibrator sources for seismic prospecting to produce controlled sweeps, as in the manner used in modern seismic prospecting, but with large forces at low frequencies, e.g. forces >275 kN at frequencies between 1 and 5 Hz. This is achieved by adapting the CREMV to enable rotational frequency and the eccentricity (205, 206) of the masses relative to their rotation axes (203-204) to be varied independently and simultaneously, and by designing the CREMV such that the radius of rotation of the center of mass of each rotating mass is on the order of 50 cm or more. The low frequency data obtained from such a seismic source enables improved detection and resolution of subsurface structures and better determination of subsurface properties.

Abstract: The invention relates to steerable vibration plates that are set vibrating by rotating unbalanced masses. By twisting the unbalanced masses relative to one another the resulting forces and their direction of action can be changed, thereby influencing the travel speed of the vibrating plate and its direction of travel. The inventive vibration plate is characterized in that the unbalanced masses disposed on a common shaft can be adjusted independent of external forces and torques since the adjustment piston adjusting the unbalanced masses is braced in the adjustment cylinder to a much higher degree than would be possible with conventional coil springs. To this end, every adjustable unbalanced mass is associated with a double-action hydraulic cylinder that comprises two liquid chambers. • Patent number: 6007272
Abstract: An improved asphalt paver having a remixing conveyor system that is adapted to substantially or entirely eliminating segregation in hot mix asphalt material delivered to the asphalt paver. The remixing conveying system includes at least one pair of parallelly spaced, oppositely pitched, counter-rotating hydraulically driven feed augers having remixing blades that intermittently displace portions of the hot mix asphalt material generally transversely to the direction that the feed augers convey the hot mix asphalt material from a hopper of the asphalt paver to spreading augers near the rear of the machine. Elongate members over the feed augers provide protection from impact forces and overloading and enhancing lateral extraction of hot mix asphalt material from the hopper. An optional feed screen provides flow control of the hot mix asphalt material in the hopper. A kit is provided for converting existing asphalt paving machines to have desegregating capability.

  • Patent number: 5988939
Abstract: A vibration system that fits on top of a conventional truss with minimal alteration. The system comprises a propulsion assembly powering a vibration assembly. The propulsion assembly comprises two parallel rails forming a lateral path between truss ends and supporting a mobile carriage. Each rail comprises abutting segments coextensively surmounting the truss. Each segment attaches at respective truss cross-beams to define a continuous runway for carriage movement. Each segment also defines a channel for a chain rack anchored at opposite truss ends. The carriage comprises an undercarriage supporting an offset platform. The undercarriage comprises a rail-spanning frame with supporting runway tracking wheels. A motor propels the carriage by turning an axle with terminal pinions entrained about the rack. The offset counterbalances the vibration assembly to reduce torsion. A coupling hitch protrudes from the platform opposite the offset to support the vibration assembly.

  • Patent number: 5642961
Abstract: A method for desegregating and conveying aggregate includes reorienting aggregate from a side-by-side lateral orientation to a longitudinal orientation. The longitudinally oriented segregated aggregate may then be thoroughly desegregated in a second conveyor. Reorientation preferably occurs as the aggregate is conveyed along a drag slat conveyor which has a notch in the floor of its discharge end which causes larger aggregate at the lateral edges of the conveyor to drop out of the conveyor after smaller aggregate located between the lateral edges.
