    Abstract: Cleaner teeth or bars are used in many applications to remove debris from a compacting wheel that is wedged between respective rows of compacting tips. It is advantageous to have a cleaner tooth that is simple in construction and effective to remove the debris with the least amount of effort. In the subject arrangement, a cleaner tooth is provided having an arcuate upper surface that, in use, is located immediately adjacent an outer peripheral surface of a compacting wheel and has a trailing lower surface that intersects the arcuate outer surface at a forward end portion thereof. The forward end portion is effective to remove the debris with minimal effort. A fastening portion provides a structure which allows ease of assembly and disassembly of the cleaner tooth to a compacting machine.

    Abstract: A machine for compacting and leveling a poured floor covering. The machine includes a frame having a pair of side members and a pair of parallel, ground engaging, cylindrical rollers rotatably supported on the side members and supporting the frame for movement in forward and reverse directions. A screw member is rotatably supported on the side members and has a right-hand screw segment over a portion of the length thereof and a left-hand screw segment over a remainder portion of the length thereof. If desired, a second screw member, a trowelling mechanism and a vibratory mechanism, can be provided. Structure is provided on the front screw member for pushing the material arriving at the region between the screw segments forwardly of the machine, the leveled material passing under the screw member, as the machine is moved forwardly, being compacted by successive passage beneath the cylindrical rollers.

    Abstract: A compactor assembly and method of utilization thereof to compact soil in a trench are provided that do not require the hydraulic boom to which the compactor assembly is mounted to exert downward pressure to effect compacting. A sheep's foot roller defined by a cylindrical surface with a plurality of feet extending radially therefrom is mounted for rotation with respect to an axle having a length less than the length of the roller. The axle is completely contained within the interior volume defined by the roller's cylindrical surface. A frame operatively mounts to a crawler excavator or the like, the frame including a pair of side plates, a top plate, and back plate, and the axle is mounted to the frame side plates so that the axle remains stationary with respect to the side plates and the roller rotates about the axis defined by the axle. Each of the feet comprises a solid member tapered to a truncated apex in a circumferential direction, and having a pair of parallel flat spaced sides in an axial direction.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for applying a thin film of a liquid to a vibratory plate arranged on an edge of a vibratory compactor. The apparatus for applying the thin film of liquid includes a container assembly for holding the liquid adjacent the plate. Liquid is preferably supplied to the container assembly under the influence of gravity. An element for maintaining intimate contact between a thin liquid film and a front surface of the plate as the thin film moves downwardly along the plate surface is arranged within a lower portion of the container assembly. The element is arranged adjacent to an outlet from the container provided along substantially the entire width of the front plate. The thin liquid film flows from the container as a low velocity laminar flow along the surface of the plate in the form of a liquid sheet. The liquid remains in contact with the plate surface due primarily to surface tension as the liquid moves downwardly.
