The end treatment array further includes a containment impact sled having an axially extending frame. The frame has a width sufficient to contain the transition barrier module within the frame when in an assembled configuration, and has an axial length which is at least one-half the length of the transition barrier module. The frame defines an interior volume, the purpose of which is to contain a substantial portion of the transition barrier module in the assembled configuration, and to contain debris caused by destruction of the plastic barrier modules in a vehicular impact. The containment impact sled is attached to the transition barrier module.

A bottom plate (20) is provided to which the shaft (16) and said foot (18) box are attached. A spring steel back plate (22) is arranged adjacent and perpendicular to rear facing side of the shaft (16), and extends to at least one side of it. The back plate (22) is located at a position that is flush with or slightly below the surface in which the footing is buried. The impact post (14) has at least a first spring steel element (32) which is L shaped, and at least one packing element (34, 36, 38) located behind the first element (32) to retain it in a position in which it extends into the foot box (18).

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are embodiments of a roadside barrier segment to sit on top of a retaining wall to provide impact resistance to vehicular traffic. Concrete traffic barriers are pre-cast in a controlled manufacturing environment then transported as a modular precast concrete segment to the jobsite and installed interlocking directly on top of an earth retaining wall. The precast concrete segment is designed to have a counterweight from soil backfill on a stem of the precast segment that resists overturning pressures from vehicle impact on the traffic barrier segment that extends above the roadway surface. The stem may be triangular in shape to capture more of the backfill soil. A vertical node may be placed on one side of the segment and a receiving channel on the opposite side of the segment to allow the interaction of adjacent segments to share impact loads from motor vehicles.

The locking pin (150) is formed of a hollow, deformable tube, so that kinetic energy of a collision to a greater extent than before deforms the block, and to a lesser degree the vehicle. The block is hollow and can be deployed manually without tools, and then filled with water, sand or similar to the desired weight. The lane separator can also be used as a foundation for signs, and more.
