With Means For Alternative Ground Support By Tool Or Transport Means Patents (Class 404/85)
  • Patent number: 10196101
Abstract: A paving machine for spreading, leveling and finishing concrete having a main frame, center module, bolsters laterally movably, and a crawler track associated with respective aft and forward ends of the bolsters. A bolster swing leg for each crawler track supports an upright jacking column. A worm gear drive permits rotational movements of the crawler track and the jacking column. A hinge bracket is interposed between each swing leg and a surface of the bolsters to enable pivotal movements of the swing leg. A length-adjustable holder engages the pivot pin on the hinge bracket and pivotally engages the swing leg. The holder permits pivotal motions of the swing leg in its length-adjustable configuration and prevents substantially any motion of the swing leg in its fixed-length configuration. A feedback loop cooperates with transducers keeping the crawler tracks position. The paving machine can be reconfigured into a narrowed transport configuration.

Abstract: A mobile asphalt production machine mixes bituminous concrete at the job site through a mixing auger mechanism mounted in an insulated housing. Propane burners provide heat within the mixing auger mechanism and within the insulated housing to produce a hot-mix bituminous concrete in large or small batches. The components of the asphalt mixture are stored in separate bins that can be re-filled at the job site to provide a continuous supply of asphalt. Hot liquid bitumen is added to heated aggregate within the mixing auger mechanism. Recycled asphalt can be added through a port in the mixing auger for incorporation into the mixture. Controls permit the rate of flow of each individual component to be selectively varied in order to change the recipe for the mixture and to provide calibration of the component, while a master control will maintain the pre-established flow rates through a variable speed of operation.

A screw member is rotatably supported on the side members and has a right-hand screw segment over a portion of the length thereof and a left-hand screw segment over a remainder portion of the length thereof. If desired, a second screw member, a trowelling mechanism and a vibratory mechanism, can be provided. Structure is provided on the front screw member for pushing the material arriving at the region between the screw segments forwardly of the machine, the leveled material passing under the screw member, as the machine is moved forwardly, being compacted by successive passage beneath the cylindrical rollers.

Abstract: An apparatus for screeding and leveling coverings and coatings compounded with a binding agent, more specially a synthetic resin binding agent, is made up of a front straight edge for leveling and a back straight edge for screeding, the two straight edges being joined together as a parallelogram having a driving system for moving them backwards and forwards lengthways. As part of the apparatus there is a track-laying vehicle and a system for vertical adjustment of the straight edges.

Abstract: An attachment for a broom or similar device has a bracket engageable on the broom handle and an axle pivotally mounted on the bracket. The axle carries wheels, castors or the like and a stop is provided to limit the range of pivotal movement so that the axle can be positioned relative to the handle so that the wheels or castors either support said broom on the ground or do not support said broom on the ground.
