Abstract: A self propelled sawing machine that includes a frame having ground engaging front and rear wheels, an engine driven infinitely variable hydrostatic or mechanical transmission on the frame that is drivingly connected to the rear wheels, a circular saw blade mounted on the frame and drivenly connected to the engine for making cuts in paving or floor materials such as concrete, masonry, etc., a main housing on the frame, a handle connected to one of the main housing and the frame for controlling the direction of movement of the machine, and control mechanism connected to the transmission for controlling the speed and direction of propulsion of the machine.
Abstract: There is provided a roller for inserting filler material to the proper depth in crevices comprising a circular structure having a central circular section of at least 1/16" of an inch thick but less than 1/4 of an inch thick, a first and second truncated right angle cone sections of a smaller diameter than said central circular section and appended on each side of said central circular section at its base line to which is attached a third or fourth circular section of uniform thickness appended to the truncated side of said conical section. The circular structure is supported on a shaft which shaft is supported by two-support members which are connected to a base plate which may be attached to a handle. This construction allows the worker to grasp the handle and utilizing said circular structure which is free to rotate on said shaft such that the leading edge of said central circular section can be utilized to force filler material to the proper depth in a crevice.
Abstract: Gaps or seams between adjacent modular refractory fiber blanket insulation modules are filled by inserting therein strips of refractory fiber blanket. The strips are bent into a U-shape over a blade or plate and then inserted between two spreader members, called lubricators, to overcome the tendency of the blanket in the strip to adhere to the blanket in the module.
Abstract: Method and equipment employed on a conventional paver makes a tapered joint between adjacent paved sections. Joint has two wedge shaped, highly compacted, overlying layers.
Abstract: An apparatus for removing sealants from expansion joints in pavement slabs preparatory to replacement of the sealant is adapted for demountable attachment to the rear of a motorized vehicle. The apparatus includes a frame which is pivotably movable about a horizontal axis by means of a linear actuator. A carriage, having a cutting tool bit carried in a tool holder at the trailing edge thereof, is supported on the frame so as to be pivotably movable therewith with such movement employed for positioning and holding the cutting tool in the joint being cleaned. The carriage is free to laterally slide relative to the frame for freely tracking the expansion joint being cleaned.
Abstract: Slip form concrete laying machines for forming curbs are equipped with apparatus which forcibly inserts compressible sheets downwardly in the freshly laid concrete, the sheet being strengthened by a backing plate and an attached strip at its lower edge.
