Patent number: 6955495Abstract: A delimiter that can be arranged along the sides of a runway. The delimiter can be locked in an upright position for most normal operations. When the runway must be cleared of snow, an operator can lower the delimiters in place, either manually or by motor. After the runway has been cleared of snow, the delimiters can be raised again for use. Unlike the delimiters described above, these delimiters meet all aircraft regulation requirements. When collapsed, they do not protrude above the surface of the ground. The delimiters also have a shear mechanism that allows the raised portion of the delimiter to break off when struck. This shear mechanism protects aircraft by breaking away the upper portion of the delimiter.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2002Date of Patent: October 18, 2005Inventors: Calvin Datta, Jennifer Datta

Patent number: 6910828Abstract: A self-guiding shopping cart collection, storage, and retrieval system is provided which is integrated into the parking lot construction. A collection channel is adjacent and parallel to a row of parking spaces which is formed as an inset trough configured to allow rolling translation of a shopping cart to a collection end. The collection channel has a generally planar floor and at least one inclined side bank with the floor being downwardly linearly inclined toward the collection end. Lateral feed channels intersect with the collection channel which are configured to allow rolling translation of a shopping cart from the parking lot into the collection channel. Patent number: 6905281Abstract: A vehicular impact absorbing apparatus includes a pair of tubular guide rails having a guide slit longitudinally formed at the upper part of each guide rail fixed to the ground. Sliders are movably mounted in the guide rail at predetermined intervals, the upper part of each slider is laid on the upper part of the guide rail through the guide slit. Cushion units are mounted on the upper part of each slider. Each cushion unit is elastically deformed by vehicular impact while retracting along the guide rail. Cushion pins are mounted across the guide rails at predetermined intervals between the sliders that also absorb the kinetic energy of an impact by being broken by the rearward retracting slider. A stopper is installed around the rear end of the guide rail for stopping the retracting cushion units. A successive cushion and deceleration of the impact is possible in this arrangement.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 2003Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Inventor: Sung Ku Kang

Patent number: 6905283Abstract: An energy absorbing safety barrier system comprising a plurality of plates and a plurality of fins affixed to the plates. The plates are affixed to a stationary object, such as a retaining wall on a motor racing track, via mechanical fasteners. The fins are equidistantly spaced from adjacent fins and set at a specified angle in relation to the normal direction of vehicle traffic. The specified angle of the fins optimizes the dissipation of impact energy through the fin, the energy displacing adjacent fins into one another and further dissipating through friction and energy required to displace the fins.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2004Date of Patent: June 14, 2005Inventor: David C. Salyer, Sr.

Patent number: 6616369Abstract: An impact recovery delineation quick connect/disconnect adapter system having studs and an alignment pin that enables an operator to connect and/or disconnect a delineation panel, support post and load cell from the supporting base (fixed or portable) without the use of any tools. The load cell provides for radially aligned slots in a shoulder portion to allow the load cell to engage and lock with studs that are connected to the supporting base when the load cell is rotated about its vertical axis. The studs are particularly geometrically configured and have shoulders that are larger than the stud barrel and have heads that are larger than the shoulders which results in a mechanical locking between the slots and the studs upon rotation of the cell with respect to the stationary studs. A quick release detent pin passes through aligned passages in the lower load cell element and supporting base to prevent rotation of the load cell with respect to the horizontal axis of the base after connection is achieved.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2002Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Assignee: FlexcoInventor: Richard O. Patent number: 6595715Abstract: An integral one-piece metallic guiderail post comprising a contoured leg portion and vertically offset upper end portion onto which a guiderail can be selectively secured. The contoured upper end portion has a vertically oriented rail-mounting surface with an angularly inclined front surface extending therefrom. Elongated support flanges extend from the contoured leg and vertically offset portions in spaced parallel relation to one another. The vertical offset rail engagement portion partially overlies the leg portion effectively transferring vertical impact load on the vertical offset rail portion to the leg portion for ground mounting engagement.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2002Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Inventor: Dominick J. Patent number: 6579035Abstract: A traffic warning device for temporary placement upon the surface of a road includes a single elongated body with a first side having a reflector, and a second side and top having a bright color such as international orange. The shape and size of the traffic warning device are specifically designed to resist turning over when struck by a vehicle tire. When traffic warning device is placed prone, bottom down, upon the surface of the road, the first and second sides form an elongate barrier which extends along the surface of the road, thereby alerting a motorist to a road obstruction. The present invention comprises a safe, one time deployment of reusable barricades, thus eliminating the need to use conventional highway flares which burn hazardous materials.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2001Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Inventor: Ted J. Publication number: 20030095835Abstract: Molded ribs are provided for use in connection with traffic channeling devices, such as drums, which employ external ballasting collars, such as molded rings or truck tire rings. The ribs are disposed at spaced intervals near the bottom of the external wall of the drum, for improving contact between the drum wall and the internal diameter of the ballasting collar, in order to eliminate undesirable separation of the drum and collar during ordinary use, and to prevent inadvertent rotation of the drum relative to the collar.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2002Publication date: May 22, 2003Applicant: TrafFix Devices, Inc.Inventors: Jack H. Patent number: 6561120Abstract: A plastic barricade assembly and a method of constructing it. The assembly includes two leg and panel units pivotally interconnected. Each leg and panel unit comprises first and second leg members and a plurality of panel members. The members are separately blow molded of plastic. The first leg members of each leg and panel unit are identical to each other and, at the same time, different than the second leg members of each leg and panel unit which are, in turn, identical to each other. Each leg and panel unit is assembled by bolting a first and second leg member together with a plurality of panel members. The leg and panel members of each unit are bolted together in interlocking relationship.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 2000Date of Patent: May 13, 2003Assignee: Plasticide Products CorporationInventors: Geoffrey M. Patent number: 6554530Abstract: An energy absorbing system is provided to protect vehicle drivers and the like from serious injury which may occur when the vehicle strikes a wall or other rigid structure. The system utilizes a plurality of energy absorbing units having hinged plates with a cushion backing which dampens the impact by swinging in an overlapping fashion. The plates are formed from steel and the cushion is formed with a high density outer polymeric casing and a relatively low density filler within.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2001Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Inventor: Joseph W.
