Patent number: 7927043Abstract: A sleeve 10 for introduction of a pressurized fluid, which is attached to a rockbolt main body 1, comprises a cylindrical projecting part 11 of a large diameter and a bearing-plate-holding part 12 of a diameter smaller than an aperture of a bearing plate 6. The projecting part 11 and the bearing-plate-holding part 12 preferably has the same inner diameter. When the rockbolt main body 1 is embedded in a bedrock or ground, the bearing plate 6 locates on an edge of a rockbolt-setting hole of the bedrock or ground, and the bearing-plate-holding part 12 extends through the bearing plate 6 into the rockbolt-setting hole. Since the projecting part 11 and the bearing plate 6 are disposed on a sprayed concrete layer, a projection height of the rockbolt is remarkably decreased. Consequently, lining concrete 8 is applied onto the sprayed concrete layer with ease, and the bedrock or ground is reinforced with high reliability.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2004Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tatsurou Iwasaki, Masahiro Nakata, Hiromichi Shiroma, Tetsuo Itou, Kenji Ooshima, Hiroyuki Tanase, Takefumi Nakako, Takeyuki Yoshida, Toshiharu Kittaka

Patent number: 7794179Abstract: A high-strength steel pipe rockbolt has an expansive rockbolt main body prepared by processing a high-strength steel sheet of 1.8-2.3 mm in thickness with a tensile strength of 490-640 N/mm2 and an elongation of 20% or more into a welded pipe and roll-forming the welded pipe into a shaped pipe having one or more concavities extending along an axial direction. Use of the high-strength steel sheet ensures sufficient strength of the shaped pipe regardless of a decrease in thickness. The thin welded pipe is also advantageous in resistance to cracking caused by accumulation of strains introduced during roll-forming, swaging both ends of the welded pipe and hydraulic expansion. Moreover, expansive deformation of the shaped pipe is initiated by injection of a pressurized fluid at a low pressure, so that the expansive deformation is completed in a short time period with an improved working efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2004Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takefumi Nakako, Takeyuki Yoshida, Shigeo Matsubara, Toshiharu Kittaka, Hiroki Kanazawa

Patent number: 7780377Abstract: A roof stabilizer for use in securing surfaces in tunneling and mining is disclosed and claimed. The stabilizer has a tube with a slot and a ring attached to the bottom end of the tube. The ring can have indicia on a bottom surface of the ring or a side surface of the ring or both. The location of the indicia can provide better indication of the properties of the stabilizer to the installer. The indicia is easier to read than that of the background art both before and after installation. The location of the indicia can also provide easer and quicker visual inspection of already installed stabilizers to verify that the proper roof stabilizers were installed. The location of the indicia lessens the likelihood that corrosion will remove the indicia making it unidentifiable. The stabilizer disclosed and claimed also allows the use of grout or an adhesive in the interior of the tube which does not cover up or conceal the indicia on the ring as opposed to indicia in the background art stabilizers.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2008Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Inventors: Steven E. Brady, Roland C. Walker, Matthew S. Slatter

Publication number: 20100074695Abstract: After a rock anchor which encompasses the anchor bolt, has been inserted with an end sleeve beforehand into a bore hole, on the sleeve there is an adapter with liquid supply and drain. Via the holding pressure line a holding pressure is produced which fixes the adapter on the sleeve. Via the expansion line fluid flows into the anchor bolt and begins to fill it. The anchor bolt expands as a result of the pressure increase in the bore hole, so that its outer surface adjoins the bore hole wall and fixes the rock anchor in the bore hole. Via a gas supply connected to the adapter, a pressurized gas, before and/or after expanding the anchor bolt, can be introduced into the latter. The compressed gas is relieved after removing the adapter and routs the fluid located in the anchor bolt almost completely out of the anchor.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2006Publication date: March 25, 2010Applicant: ATLAS COPCO MAI GMBHInventor: Mario Bureau

Publication number: 20080107488Abstract: A lock bolt of a high strength steel pipe, wherein an expansion type lock bolt body is formed of a deformed pipe manufactured by using, as a raw material, a high tension steel plate having a tensile strength of 490 to 640 N/mm2, an elongation of 20% or more, and a plate thickness of 1.8 to 2.3 mm and having a single or a plurality of recessed parts extending in the axial direction of the deformed pipe. Since the high tension steel plate is used in the lock bolt, sufficient strength can be secured for the lock bolt though the steel plate is thin, and cracking due to stains introduced in a molding process, a both end shrinkage process, and a pressurizing/expanding process can be suppressed. Since an expansion start pressure when a pressurized fluid is press-fitted and inflated is also low, a time in which the expansion/deformation is completed can be shortened and workability can also be improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2004Publication date: May 8, 2008Inventors: Takefumi Nakako, Takeyuki Yoshida, Shigeo Matsubara, Toshiharu Kittaka, Hiroki Kanazawa

In a first embodiment, the tubes of four of the sets are arranged in a first or bottom layer so that the flanged and tapered ends of the tubes are aligned alternatively and the slits face downwardly. Next, the plates of three of the sets are placed along the length of the four tubes so that the domed sections face upwardly, thereby forming a second layer. A third layer is formed by placing the three remaining plates on top of the first three plates, respectively, so that the domed sections of the second layer nest within the respective domed sections of the third layer.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: International Rollforms IncorporatedInventor: Jack Vosbikian
