At the ends of the incisions, there are openings which are oval or circular in shape. A weld-free geocell includes at least one blank stretched in a direction perpendicular to the lines of the incisions to form a three-dimensional cellular structure.

    Abstract: The method for the restoration and reinforcement of scarps and a resulting reinforced structure is provided. The method includes of clearing the scarp surface under restoration, and of creating a pit (an excavation). The bottom of the pit is filled with mineral soil and is compacted as a foundation of a retaining wall. A protective filter made from draining mineral soil is installed on the foothill of the scarp, where the protective filter is surrounded by draining geotextile. The geogrid is placed on the surface of the regressed scarp and then anchored to the soil of the scarp by tensile ropes. A rigid support, such as a crib (grillage), is created on the protective filter and batter piles are driven under the rigid support. Then the retaining wall is constructed, consisting of layers of compacted soil that are surrounded by draining geotextile. The retaining wall is covered by erosion control mats, anchored to the draining geotextile of the soil layers of the retaining wall.

    Abstract: An improved method for attaching a geosynthetic strip to a plurality of fact panels of a retaining wall. The method first begins by providing a plurality of stackable face panels, each face panel having a plurality of connector loops fixed with the back portion of the face panels. Each of the connector loops for a horizontal loop extending outwardly generally perpendicular to the back portion of the face panel. Next, a first tier of face panels is disposed at the bottom of the embankment being erected. Soil is then back-filled behind the first tier of panels to a level of the connector loops disposed within the first tier of face panels. A geosynthetic strip, which extends perpendicularly from the back portion of the face panels into the soil embankment, is positioned so that a plurality of geosynthetic strips aligns with the connection loops.

Various forms of vertical tensioning support can be provided to include soil nails, micro-piles, sheet piling, and the like. The confined soils are installed at locations under and adjacent to the man made constructions, and can be provided in both symmetrical and asymmetrical configurations. For bridge constructions, the confined soils may be installed at a desired depth under the bridge girders, and under other primary support members of the bridge. Horizontal nails may be installed under and adjacent to the confined soils.

    Abstract: This invention relates to a composite bag for use in earth bag construction systems such as backfill pack systems in underground mines and a construction system using such bags. The composite bags each comprises a pair of long, narrow inner bags of woven polypropylene located longitudinally within and constrained along their length by an outer bag of woven polypropylene. In use, the composite bags are laid flat on top of one another on a working surface (for instance the footwall in an underground mine). The bags could be glued or otherwise attached to one another in this configuration. Tie elements, such as timber elongates, are threaded through aligned slits spaced apart along the length of the bags. The elongates are set against the hanging wall and a backfill slurry is pumped into the inner bags. As each inflating composite bag expands, the slurry water weeps from the bags which rise up the timber elongates during the pumping process.
