  • Patent number: 11352760
Abstract: A masonry block has a front, a back, a top surface, a bottom surface, a first side and a second side. The front has a front-top edge and a front-bottom edge. A number of steps (e.g. two steps) that rise above the top surface are setback from the front-top edge by a first setback distance. An equal number of notches are formed/cut into the bottom surface. A first notch of the notches is setback from the front-bottom edge by a second setback distance. When stacked to form a wall, the steps of a lower masonry block interface with the notches of a next higher masonry block and the first setback distance is greater than the second setback distance resulting in an overall setback as defined by a difference between the first setback distance minus the second setback distance.

  • Patent number: 10267011
Abstract: Provided is a pre-cast structural and/or decorative retaining walls, concrete walls that require moment restraints in one or two directions like retaining walls, monuments, levy walls, fences, building walls or any freestanding wall structure consisting of concrete walls constructed on a horizontal surface normally at a manufacturing facility, on rolling platforms or other substrate, or preferably built on the construction site where after curing the pre-fabricated walls can be installed at a site. The pre-cast panels can have a wide variety of decorative elements readily applied to both the upper and lower downside reflection surface. A unique feature is the buttress system that is added to the back of the wall system when elevated retention is required. By placing the buttress portion on top of the footing, and tying into the pre-decorated wall with reinforcement, an eco-friendly, design optional retaining wall system is accomplished which is rapidly and economically installed.

  • Patent number: 10087597
Abstract: A stackable concrete wall block is disclosed having a body with an irregular front portion and a prism shaped rear portion, the irregular front portion has a three dimensional surface structure embossed in the front face providing the appearance of natural stone and the regular rear portion facilitating stacking of like blocks. The rear portion has parallel sidewalls perpendicular to a rear wall, which are more easily manufactured by dry casting than tapered sidewalls. A lip protrudes from at least one of the sidewalls of the rear portion and is coplanar with the front face for spacing the body of the block from that of a like block placed adjacent thereto. The lateral lip generates spacing between adjacent blocks at a back terminal edge, thereby allowing the assembly of curved walls. The irregular front face extends over the lip so that the front face is continuous over the lip.

Abstract: One embodiment of a system of the present disclosure can be implemented as follows. A plurality of wall blocks are stacked to form at least a portion of a retaining wall, each wall block having an interior face, an exterior face; a top surface, and a bottom surface. The system further includes retaining means for securing at least one reinforcement member between stacked wall blocks, the retaining means including a pair of reinforcement member retaining bars that are positioned within a slot crossing the transverse length of the top surface of at least one wall block. A first of the retaining means secures the at least one reinforcement member against the bottom of the slot and a second of the retaining means secures the first retaining members against the side of the slot, such that the at least one reinforcement member is additionally secured between the pair of retaining means. Other systems and methods are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8596928
Abstract: A retaining wall or steeply faced slope is disclosed having a naturally green facade. The wall or slope is made of blocks of compacted earth, each having a face reinforced with wire mesh and covered with vegetation such as native grasses. The blocks may be formed onsite, saving transportation costs and other waste, using native soils. The mesh may extend beyond other faces of each block to provide handles and geogrid anchoring. A press is disclosed to form the blocks by compacting soil mixed with cement, the press including hydraulic rams or screw jacks that create immense pressures and having wedge shaped sides that relieve lateral confining pressure when the block is extracted.
