To Move Radially Patents (Class 408/147)
  • Patent number: 4642005
Abstract: A tool holder for holding a rotary cutting tool, attachable to a spindle of a machine tool, has a holder body fixed to the machine spindle. A rotatable shaft having a tool-mounting portion is coupled to the holder body such that the shaft is axially and radially displaceable relative to the holder body. A positioning member is fixedly disposed on the machine tool body radially outwardly of the machine spindle. A casing is disposed radially outwardly of the rotatable shaft such that the casing and the rotatable shaft are rotatable relative to each other, the casing being engageable with the positioning member to accurately position the rotatable shaft when the holder body is fixed to the machine spindle. A guide bushing is fixedly supported at one axial end portion of the casing remote from the holder body.

  • Patent number: 4621958
Abstract: A boring block and tool holder is disclosed having an opening therein. The block is made of a thick rectangular plate having inserts set into its front corners and inclined surfaces adjacent its rear edge forming a noncircular tang part having two rearwardly facing shoulders adjacent the tang portion which is received in a slot in a boring bar. The shape of the slot is complimentary to the shape of the tang part of the block. A tapered hole through the tang aligns with a tapered hole in the boring bar and the tapered hole in the block receives a taper pin which forces the block rearward bringing the block into firm rigid relationship with the end of the bar thereby clamping the block in positive rigid relation to the bar. The block has more strength than previous blocks because the block is thicker below the cutting inserts and there is more metal below the cutting insert, yet it can use the same bar and same slot width as rectangular blocks.

  • Patent number: 4611958
Abstract: A boring head of a multiple-operation machine tool comprises a housing which accommodates a carriage carrying a mandrel for a cutting tool, and having a slanted surface to interact with a slanted surface of a rod arranged in the housing coaxially with the carriage and kinematically coupled to a drive which moves it in the axial direction. The housing also accommodates a fork arranged coaxially with the former and pressed against the carriage by a spring. At the ends of the fork are two slanted surfaces which are symmetrical with respect to the axis of rotation of the boring head. The fork interacts with the carriage on lines found in a plane extending through the axis of rotation of the boring head. The head further incorporates a rocker whose axle is installed in the housing on the side facing the two slanted surfaces of the carriage. The axle is parallel with the axis of rotation of the boring head.

  • Patent number: 4606680
Abstract: A device for boring holes has a geometrical longitudinal axis, a clamping zone, a shank having a front end zone, two turnover plates fastened on the front end zone of the shank in opposite positions, and a chip space in front of each turnover plate. In the shank, a longitudinal slot runs radially to the geometrical longitudinal axis, which is open towards the front end zone and has a bottom that extends so far towards the clamping zone that the shank halves thus formed can be bent forward at the front end zone to a degree that is sufficient for fine setting the bore diameter. Beyond the bottom of the longitudinal slot, a tapped hole in the shank is coaxial with the longitudinal axis. A coaxial rest hole in the shank in the inner zone of the longitudinal slot is intersected by the longiudinal slot.

  • Patent number: 4555205
Abstract: A holding device for a rotating body comprising a tubular member (1) which permits insertion therein of the rotating body, at least three support members (2) disposed along the inner periphery of the tubular member (1) so as to be movable in a substantially radial direction, and a locking arrangement (3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 10a, 10b) capable of independently holding each of the support members (2) in a desired position. With such device, bodies which are rotatable about an axis not coaxial with the driving shaft thereof can be held in place without having any substantial influence upon their rotational shafts. Besides, it is not necessary to pay close attention to the clearance between moving members in the manufacture and use of the device, and thus the holding device is high in versatility and low in cost.

  • Patent number: 3937586
Abstract: A rotating machine tool for hydraulically positioning a cutting tool mounting assembly lateral to the axis of rotation is disclosed. A collar circumscribing the axis of rotation and having an inclined annular downwardly directed recess is slidably mounted on the machine tool. A pair of diametrically opposed plungers ride within the inclined recess and are forced into reciprocal movement thereby. The reciprocating plungers pump hydraulic fluid from a reservoir within the machine tool into a pressure chamber. The pressure chamber is connected to a piston and cylinder assembly, which piston is positionally responsive to the pressure within the chamber. The movement of the piston is translated into lateral movement of the cutting tool via a spring biased mounting assembly. In operation, the rotation of the collar is restrained while the body of the machine tool rotates.
