  • Patent number: 4738255
Abstract: A suture anchor system that includes a drill for turning into a bone mass with sissoring blades pivotally connected in a longitudinal drill shaft slot proximate to a cutting end thereof, the blade ends to sissor to extend cutting edges outwardly therefrom, which sissoring occurs at a certain depth of penetration into the bone mass, cutting a flared or skirted hole therein, to receive a suture anchor whereto a suture is secured. The suture anchor consists of a suture rivet and slotted ring and is formed by moving the suture rivet into the slotted ring, that ring breaking at spaced apart slots formed therein and flaring into a skirt, the anchor rivet and slotted ring thereby locked together as the suture anchor, which suture anchor has approximately the same shape but a slightly lessor diameter than the hole formed in the bone mass.

  • Patent number: 4729699
Abstract: The device comprises a body longitudinally provided with a stem which is suitable for being inserted into the hole of a part being machined. On the body an element is slideably coupled which has an element for attachment to the mandrel of the machine tool, which element is adapted for imparting rotation to the body itself. On the stem is slideably mounted a shaft which is articulated at its end with a tool and is coupled to the attachment element so that an axial sliding of the same element towards the part being machined actuates a sliding motion in the opposite direction of the shaft adapted for actuating the radial projection of said tool from said stem.

Abstract: Deburring apparatus for removing the burrs which are formed at the intersecting inner edges of at least two intersecting bores of a workpiece comprises; a frame having means for holding the workpiece; a cutter spindle borne rotatably in the frame; a cutter hinged to the leading end portion of the cutter spindle and biased to swing outwardly of the side thereof for cutting off the burrs at the inner edges of the bores of the workpiece held by the holding means of the frame when the cutter spindle is inserted into one of the bores and rotated; and a guide sleeve fitted slidably on the cutter spindle for sheathing the cutter, when the cutter spindle is inserted into or retracted out of the one of the bores, to protect the inner walls of the workpiece from damage, and for exposing the edge of the cutter to the outside when in the deburring operation. The cutter is directed along a curve of the inner edges of the bore of the workpiece by a cam on the frame engaged by a follower on the cutter spindle.

  • Patent number: 4508476
Abstract: A boring tool is disclosed capable of positioning a tool element between a radial cutting position and a radial retracted position out of contact with the finished workpiece bore to avoid tool mark formation on the finished bore during tool withdrawal. The boring tool is simple and low cost in construction and includes a resilient tool-carrying member which extends transversely of the spindle axis in cantilever fashion for deflection by a spindle draw bar relative to a stop means on a fixed support member attachable to the spindle. During boring, the tool-carrying member is in deflecting engagement with the drawbar and, in conjunction with stop means, positions the tool thereon in a radial cutting position. For tool withdrawal, deflecting engagement is released so that the resiliency of the tool-carrying member positions the tool in a radial retracted position out of contact with the finished workpiece bore.
