Patent number: 10426540Abstract: A system and method for improving installation of a prosthesis, particularly an acetabular cup. The system and method may include implementation of a constant velocity relative motion between a prosthesis and an installation site. For example, an installation system may be fixed relative to the installation site, with the prosthesis fixed into an initial position. The prosthesis is moved at constant speed (i.e., with minimal if any acceleration or applied impulses) relative to the installation site. That is, one or both of the prosthesis or the installation site may be in motion. Resistive forces to installation of a prosthesis may thus be reduced by maintaining the prosthesis constantly in motion relative to the installation site. Securing a processing/implanting tool directly to the installation site may offer advantages.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2017Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Inventor: Kambiz Behzadi

Patent number: 6213693Abstract: A high durability taper tap for pipe threads which can cut threads in a pipe made of hard materials having hardness of approximately 50 HRC. The sum &Sgr;&ggr; of the width angle of cutters is large, approximately 130°, thereby achieving high strength and rigidity are achieved. Since rake angle of the cutting edge &agr; is approximately −20°, cutter angle &bgr; defined by the rake face and the peripheral relief becomes more than 90° so that the strength and rigidity of a cutting edge are enhanced. In addition, since a taper of the bottom of flutes is in a ratio of 1/16, approximately equal to that of the thread portion, the rake angle &agr; of all of the cutting edges 6 is uniform so that all of the cutting edges can equally cut the threads. Further, the diameter Df of the bottom of the flutes of the top end portion is approximately 60% of the smaller end of the thread portion, which is larger than that of the common tapping tool.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: OSG CorporationInventor: Kazumi Kato
