Adapted To Cut Entire Thickness Of Work At One Pass Patents (Class 408/29)
  • Patent number: 6666245
Abstract: A tree trimming apparatus is provided for preparing a tree, such as a Christmas tree, for attachment to a tree stand. The tree trimming apparatus includes a raised platform supported by a plurality of legs. The platform also includes an opening for receiving the trunk of a tree. Below the platform is positioned a jaws assembly for affixing the tree in place. Meanwhile, the tree trimming apparatus includes a saw assembly for severing the base of the tree, and a drill assembly for drilling a recess into the bottom of the tree for receipt of the spike of a tree stand.

  • Patent number: 5119855
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting and drilling stock wherein the cutting and drilling operations are performed simultaneously at a single station. A table having a planar surface is used for supporting the stock. A saw is disposed above the surface of the table, and a pair of drills, each having two drill bits, are disposed below the surface of the table. The saw is pivotally coupled to the table so that the saw may be moved toward the planar surface for cutting the stock. As the saw descends toward the table, a clamping mechanism is activated for fixing the stock in place on the table as it is being cut. As the stock is being cut, the drill bits extend through corresponding apertures in the planar surface for drilling the underside of the stock. After the stock is drilled, the drill bits retract and the clamping mechanism releases its grip on the stock.

  • Patent number: 4694871
Abstract: A process is described, with the aid of which panel-type workpieces to be manufactured from a panel blank may also be provided with flat face and/or end face bores in the course of their manufacture. For this purpose, the panel blank is displaced transversely to the cutting plane into a stop position, the flat face bores pertaining to one of the workpieces to be manufactured are subsequently made in the one flat side of the panel blank. To make the further flat face bores for the workpiece, the panel blank is then transported further in a clocked manner through predetermined paths in the same direction and bored after each advance. Upon completion of all of the flat face bores, the panel blank is displaced in a clocked manner in the opposite direction into predetermined positions, fixed after each advance, and lastly severed. For the end face boring, the panel blank is displaced in the direction of advance through a path corresponding to a side length of a workpiece and subsequently clamped and severed.

  • Patent number: 4033391
Abstract: Method for forming planks for use in chord components of integral truss-supported decks comprises placing the squared off leading edge of a blank, unprocessed plank on a supporting frame; indexing the plank longitudinally and laterally in the frame accurately locating it for drilling; and drilling splice plate locating holes at each extremity of the plank, and side connector holes in a spaced relation along the sides of the plank, with the aid of drill jigs located above the frame. The apparatus includes a frame, for supporting the planks, having an end stop located at one end for accurately locating the plank longitudinally in the frame, a side stop located along one side for accurately locating the plank laterally in the frame, and indexing means for indexing the plank with the side stop and maintaining it there.

  • Patent number: 4025219
Abstract: To simplify the apparatus and reduce handling, a pipe threading section and a pipe cutting section are axially aligned with respect to a pipe clamping apparatus, both located at the same side of the pipe clamping section. A guide is provided, extending parallel to the axis of the pipe, to guide the clamping section on the apparatus for movement in selected positions, the moving distance of the clamping section being greater than the distance between that side of the threading tool of the pipe threading section and the cutting tool of the cutting tool section which faces the clamping section.

  • Patent number: 3951564
Abstract: A right angular gear drive attaches directly to an electric hand drill following removal of the drill chuck. A power-operated tube cutter and burr remover are driven directly by the output shaft of the gear drive. A slide is fixed to the gear drive immediately rearwardly of the cutter element and is received within a guide and cover member which may be engaged with a floor or work bench during use. Spring means returns the guide and cover member to its original position after use.
