Abstract: The fixture, in a first embodiment of the invention, comprises a flat base having a plurality of mounting holes formed therein, and a platform supported above the base, by a plurality of legs integral with both the base and platform. The base and platform are in parallel planes, and the platform has a guide bushing slidably engaged with an aperture formed in the platform. A lock screw, threaded into a tapped hole formed in the platform adjustably secures the bush in place. Plugs engageable with tubes in the tubesheet are passed into the mounting holes in the base to fix the base securely to the tubesheet, and the bushing receives therein a drill for drilling out a tube, in the tubesheet, which is directly aligned with the bushing. The bushing has an arcuate cut-out formed therein to accommodate the withdrawal of the bushing from the platform, without having to release the plugs, and its replacement by another bushing to facilitate reaming of the tubesheet.

Abstract: A portable boring machine for boring bearing housings in situ includes a pair of spaced apart mounting members for adjustably positioning a boring bar within a row of bearing housings. The spaced apart mounting members are removably positionable on the boring bar and permit rotation of the boring bar with respect to the housings. The mounting members include radially adjustable jaws which enable the space between the boring bar and an adjacent bearing housing to be adjusted by the user in order to adjust the position of the boring bar within the housing and to vary the inclination of the boring bar with respect to the row of housings to be reconditioned. In this way the user has complete control between the relative positions of the boring bar and the bedplate. Moreover, since the support members are removably positionable on the boring bar they may be adjusted in position with respect to the particular housing to be bored.

Abstract: A hole saw guide positions a hole saw while forming a new hole either partially overlapping or surrounding an existing hole in a work piece. The hole saw guide includes a disc-shaped body having a pilot drill guide hole through the center sized to guide the pilot drill of a conventional hole saw. Two or more guide arms extend radially outwardly from the body and have outer ends which engage the inner circumference of an existing hole in the work piece to secure the guide at a desired position. The guide arms are adjustable in length radially so the pilot drill guide hole in the body can be positioned where desired. The pilot drill of a conventional hole saw is then inserted into the pilot drill guide hole which properly centers the hole saw so that the new hole formed in the work piece is properly located.

Abstract: A support frame having a face which may be positioned against a workpiece. A cutting arm is mounted for rotation relative to the axis of the frame in such a manner as to support a cutting tool which may be used to form a groove in a workpiece, such as a cylinder head. The cutting arm is supported in a rotating unit such that the depth of the tool and the radius of the groove may be precisely controlled. A crank is attached to the turning unit for positive rotation of the cutting tool. A plurality of locating, headed pins are mounted in the frame so that the heads are biased to positions beyond the workpiece-contact face of the frame. In the exemplary use of the tool to form a groove in a cylinder head, the pins may be precisely positioned so as to cooperate with stud bolt holes in the cylinder head in order to precisely locate the axis of the turning unit relative to the cylinder head.
