  • Patent number: 9434008
Abstract: An aligning attachment includes a support aligned relative to a workpiece by a base and a collar slidably connected to the support. The aligning attachment is connected to a power tool and the power tool is guided toward the workpiece by the collar. The translation of the power tool is controlled by a control force applied to a lever pivotally connected to the collar. The lever cooperates with the support to transfer the control force to the support and the collar to counteract an input force applied to the power tool. The control force and associated reaction forces on the support and the lever lie approximately in the same plane. A user controls the translation of the power tool device by increasing or decreasing the control force applied to the lever.

  • Patent number: 9101072
Abstract: A method of embedding a magnetic component in a substrate is disclosed. Holes are formed in a substrate by mechanically drilling. Each of the holes includes a top opening, a bottom and sidewall, wherein an area of the top opening is larger than that of the bottom. The sidewall extends from the top opening vertically downwards to a predetermined depth, and then is slanted inwardly to the bottom to form a sloped sidewall at the bottom of the hole. A predetermined region is defined along a portion of an edge of the top opening, and a portion of the substrate material under the predetermined region is removed by routing to form a component accommodation trench with a portion of the sloped sidewall at the bottom. Then, a magnetic component is placed into the component accommodation trench.

Abstract: In the pocket hole apparatus of the present invention, a table reciprocates linearly relative to a base. An anvil is fixed relative to the base and holds the workpiece on a sloped top surface at the desired angle for the pocket hole. A drill spindle with a drill bit is fixed relative to the table. After the workpiece is mounted to the anvil, the table is moved to drill the pocket hole. Optionally, a second spindle on the opposite side of the anvil predrills the pocket hole when the table is first moved to a predrill position. The spindle is enabled or disabled by latching mechanism. Abstract: A drill fixture enabling drilling through hard objects in a confined area includes a housing, a threaded rod connected with the housing, and a tubular adjustment sleeve rotatably connected with the rod. A drill is arranged in the housing and has a drill bit extending in a forward direction. The sleeve is rotated relative the threaded rod for displacement along the length of the rod until the sleeve engages a fixed surface opposite the object to be drilled. With the sleeve rear portion engaging the fixed surface, further rotation of the sleeve displaces the housing in a forward direction during rotation of the drill bit so that the bit bores through the hard object until a hole is formed. Rotation of the sleeve in the opposite direction causes the drill bit to be retracted from the object. In lieu of a rotatable sleeve, a piston may be provided which is extended and retracted relative to the housing to provide a linear drilling force to the drill bit relative to a fixed surface.

  • Patent number: 4501519
Abstract: A tool couple which is used with a manually-operated threading die to aid in cutting the initial threads on a pipe or bolt. The device is used to force the anterior cutting edge of the die firmly against the outer, unthreaded surface of the workpiece at the outset of a threading operation. The die is kept wedged, as the initial threads are being cut, between the workpiece and a rotatable member of the tool couple so that the die cannot slip backward toward and merely chamfer the leading edge of the workpiece. To keep the die so wedged, the rotatable member is advanced by means of a shaft in the direction of the end of the workpiece at approximately the same rate as the die is moved along the longitudinal axis of the workpiece. Usually only one revolution of the threading die, assisted by the tool couple, is required to establish the starting thread.

  • Patent number: 4442905
Abstract: A lightweight portable jig assembly for supporting a power drill and for advancing and retracting the drill towards and away from an overhead workpiece comprises a carriage having a first tubular portion slidable on a tube standard and a second tubular portion within which slides a second tube on which the drill is mounted. A releasable lock mechanism is cooperative relation with the carriage and tube standard prevents downward movement of the carriage on the standard while permitting upward movement of the carriage on the standard whereby the carriage may be selectively positioned on the standard simply by lifting the carriage to the proper vertical height and then released to lock same in place. Advancement and retraction of the drill towards the overhead workpiece is obtained by a manually operable lever and linkage which further is operable to effect automatic release of the releasable lock mechanism upon retraction of the drill.

  • Patent number: 4369845
Abstract: A tool jig for bringing an implement to bear on an inner tubular 10 of a multi-tubular blown well includes a support 1 attachable to the outer tubular 2 and a tool holder 12. The tool holder has a hollow bore and a valve 24. At its rear end the tool holder is threaded for coupling on an implement and has at its front end a saddle seal for sealing the implement with the inner tubular, via through a window 9 in outer tubular 2. A back-up unit 18 abuts the inner tubular opposite the tool holder 12. The support 1 supports the tool holder 12 and back-up unit 18 via connecting brackets 13, 19. Screw jacks 22 acting through the support clamp the tool holder and backup unit in position.

  • Patent number: 4301699
Abstract: A link is pivotally connected at one end to the collar which is clampingly engaged with the quill of a machine tool. The other end of the link is pivotally connected to one end of a lever arm. At an intermediate point, the lever arm is engagable with a conventional sensitive drill adapter held in accordance with conventional practice by the machine tool. The drill adapter is reciprocally movable in response to movement of the lever arm.

  • Patent number: 4036674
Abstract: A repair tool for performing quick, inexpensive and almost invisible repairs on fabrics which have been subjected to local damage. The tool comprises a base plate having core pins and ring pins projecting upwardly therefrom. An annular holding ring overfits the base plate and sandwiches the fabric to be repaired therebetween. A rotary knob including a circular razor turns within the holding ring central opening to cut a perfect circular hole in the fabric to remove the damaged area. The tool is utilized to cut a similar circular patch from an undamaged portion of the fabric. The patch is then applied to the circular hole in the damaged fabric and is secured thereto by rearwardly positioned adhesive faced material to provide an almost invisible repair.

  • Patent number: 3954347
Abstract: An improved drilling machine for cutting holes for knobs and latches in metal-clad doors comprises a supporting framework for the door and a hollow drill arranged to be moved upward from the underside of the door to cut the knob opening. The drill is hollow in construction and is supported on a drive shaft by a plurality of support members spaced a sufficient distance apart to effect an easy discharge of the core which is cut and drops through the center of the hollow drill bit or cutter. In addition, the drill bit or cutter, which is hollow in construction, has the individual cutting teeth cut at an angle such that the innermost part of the cut is completed through the metal cladding on the door before the cutter begins to cut the wooden portion thereof.
