  • Patent number: 6042310
Abstract: A bit attaching arrangement for a power tool includes a bit locking member rotatable with respect to the output shaft of the power tool. A first gear is fixed to the bit locking member so that rotation of the first gear causes rotation of the locking member. A second gear is fixed to the output shaft so that rotation of the second gear causes rotation of the output shaft. A third gear engages both said first and second gear simultaneously and is capable of rotation by an operator of the power tool. Rotation of the third gear results in counter rotation between the bit locking member and the output shaft so as to result in securement of the bit to the shaft. A further aspect of the invention includes a pinion shaft onto which the third gear is mounted.

The apparatus used for forming the opening in a duct comprises a template having an arcuate portion with a radius substantially the same as the duct. The template has a window portion having substantially the same shape as the opening to be formed in the duct. A base plate is provided having an arcuate portion with a radius substantially the same as the radius of the arcuate portion of the template such that the base plate is slidably fittable over the template. A cutting device is attached to the base plate and has a cutting element extending through the base plate.

  • Patent number: 5678965
Abstract: A device and method are provided for reducing a length of an annular core on which a roll is mounted. If the core extends beyond the end of the roll, the roll is unstable when it is stacked. This device and method will trim the length of the core extending beyond the end of the roll to provide a flat face across the entire end of the roll. A stable stacking arrangement will therefore be ensured. The router includes a collar, a router bit and a transparent disk or plate mounted thereon. The router bit will chip away the portion of the core which extends beyond the end of the roll. A vacuum can be operatively attached to the router in order to remove chips formed by the router bit. The collar on the router will keep the bit spaced from the roll to prevent damage to the roll. This collar and the transparent disk or plate will also aid in guiding the router.

Abstract: The height adjustment ring assembly is provided for adjusting height of a router motor housing relative to a router body, the router being movable between upright and inverted positions. The housing includes external threads formed thereon. The height adjustment ring assembly comprises a support member secured to the router base, the support having a radially extending flange portion. An annular adjustment ring includes an internal thread for cooperation with the external threads. Means for entrapping the flange portion with respect to the adjustment ring is provided, thereby limiting relative axial movement while allowing free relative rotation of the adjustment ring with respect to the support member for adjustment of the router motor housing regardless of router position.

Abstract: The present invention comprises an attachment for a portable router which includes a raised sub base which attaches to the base plate of a router. A dust hood slides over the motor and is coupled to the sub base. The handles of the router are taken off and mounted on to the hood. A top rubber casing slides over the motor and is coupled to the top of the dust hood. A vacuum is coupled to the dust hood for the removal of chips and dust from the work area. The sub base raises the router off the work surface allowing more air volume around the router bit to aid in the quickened removal of dust and chips from the work area into the vacuum. The sub base is circularly designed, with an outer lip, allowing an operator to guide the router on a template. The router motor may be adjusted up or down in a conventional manner to obtain a desired depth of cut, through an aperture of the dust hood.
