  • Patent number: 9669475
Abstract: Disclosed is a chamfering machine which enables a smooth cutting operation by allowing a workpiece to be fixed to a position corresponding to an optimal cutting condition. The chamfering machine comprises a cutting position groove, which is formed in the bottom surface of an upper guide, and into which a part of the outer circumferential surface of a workpiece is inserted, wherein the central part of the cutting position groove is formed to correspond to the cutting end of a chamfering cutter. The machining method is configured such that the chamfering cutter enters perpendicular to a centerline direction of a circular material and, after entering while cutting, to a point where the cutting end of a cutting tip is in line with the centerline, rotates a tubular material or revolves the chamfering cutter around the tubular material and thus can cut the surface of the circular material.

  • Patent number: 9623485
Abstract: An apparatus and method of using an apparatus for refacing a tubular connection is provided. In one example, the apparatus has a mandrel connectable to a threaded portion of a tubular connection and two face plates bearing cutters for refacing surfaces of the tubular connection. In this example, the cutting is controlled by an engaging nut moving along a threaded portion of a drive shaft, and the two face plates may be spaced apart at a fixed distance to maintain the distance between the torque-stop surface and the primary surface after refacing. Also, the apparatus uses a locking pin to assist in tightening or loosening the mandrel into place using the remainder of the apparatus. An air-oil system is provided to supply air and oil to the cutting surfaces as the apparatus refaces the shoulders of the connection. An exemplary pin refacer and an exemplary box refacer are both disclosed.

Abstract: An installation method for security switches located in door jambs and connection into security system wiring is provided together with a mounting fixture for simplifying the installation. To avoid wall damage, with cylindrically packaged security switches inserted snugly in a hole drilled part way through a door jamb a few inches from the floor, an installation fixture holding a drill at an angle is inserted into the switch mounting hole for drilling at a desired angle a system wire passageway hole into the switch mounting hole wall to extending downwardly through the floor. Another drill held in the fixture at a different angle permits routing of the mounting hole wall form a wire transit channel axially adjacent to an inserted switch for passing the system wires back to connect with the security switch.

  • Patent number: 5445307
Abstract: A method of correcting the partially worn die mounting surfaces of the stationary and the movable platen of a die casting machine is capable of correcting the partially worn die mounting surfaces through comparatively simple processes in a comparatively short time without dismounting the stationary and the movable platens from the die casting machine. The method comprises steps of padding welding areas including partially worn areas and areas surrounding the partially worn areas in the die mounting surfaces of the platens on the die casting machine by build-up welding, disposing a compact, portable face cutting machine near the platens, and cutting the padded areas by the face cutting machine to finish the die mounting surfaces of the platens in a desired flatness in the range of 1/100 to 1/10 mm. The build-up welding is carried out under welding conditions realizing a welding heat input of 15,000 J/cm or below to prevent inducing residual stress in the platens.

Abstract: A device for preparing a coke oven door includes a frame for securing the door in a working position. A milling machine for machining the door seal includes a gantry coupled to the frame and a milling head coupled to the gantry. The milling head is movable up and down, longitudinally, and transversely relative to the door so as to maintain contact with the door seal. According to one aspect of the invention, a rail is attached to the frame and a rail extension is attached to the gantry. The rail and rail extension cooperate to guide the gantry longitudinally along the door. A rack is attached to the frame and a driven pinion is attached to the milling machine which engages the rack to move the milling machine along the rail and rail extension.

Abstract: A method of and apparatus for dressing tips for welding machines equipped with tips which are advanced toward a dresser body so as to be dressed by the cutters of the dresser body at a pressurized state. The method comprises the steps of driving to rotate the cutters before the tips are brought into contact with the cutters, pressing the tips to the cutters so that the dressing of the tips starts by being cut by the cutters while the tips are brought into contact with the cutters at a given time, moving the tips away from the cutters while the cutters keep to rotate, and completing the dressing of the tips by gradually reducing the application of the pressure to the tips. The Apparatus comprises elements to embody the method.
