Abstract: To produce toothed sections on workpieces, a machine tool has a machine bed, a pivoting element with at least two workpiece spindles arranged thereon and a tool positioning unit with a tool head. The spindles can be pivoted relative to the machine bed about a workpiece spindle pivot axis and each spindle has a workpiece receiver that can be rotatably driven about a rotational axis. The tool head can be linearly moved in three directions relative to the spindles, and can be pivoted about a tool head pivot axis. A bearing element extending in the direction of the workpiece spindle pivot axis, has a free end which is pivotable about the workpiece spindle pivot axis, and is rigidly arranged on the pivoting element. The reinforcing element is fastened to the machine bed. The pivoting element is reinforced about the workpiece spindle pivot axis by the reinforcing element.

  • Patent number: 7044691
Abstract: A forming method for milling teeth of variable tooth worms (VTW) with the following features: on a multi-axis simultaneously-working CNC machine-tool a moving coordinate system {?1(?1)[O1;{right arrow over (i)}1(?1),{right arrow over (j)}1(?1),{right arrow over (k)}1 (?1)]} is correlated to the worm blank of the VTW worms, whereon the worm blank of the VTW worms rotates around {right arrow over (k)}1(?1)-axis at angular speed |{right arrow over (?)}1|; another moving coordinate system {?2(?2)[O2; {right arrow over (i)}2(?2), {right arrow over (j)}2(?2), {right arrow over (k)}2(?2)]} is correlated to the milling cutter, whereon the milling-cutter rotates around {right arrow over (k)}2(?2)-axis at angular speed |{right arrow over (?)}2|, |{right arrow over (?)}1|/|{right arrow over (?)}2|=i12 and i12 is a constant; the feed motion of the milling cutter comprises the radial shift along {right arrow over (i)}2(o2)-axis and the peripheral shift around {right arrow over (k)}2(?2)-axis; the equations of the cutting

  • Patent number: 4811528
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed in which only one working point or machining point on a machining tool, which machining contact with a workpiece such as a gear blank during a machining operation. The position of this single working or machining point can be selectively chosen within a machining region of the grinding wheel or disk and can be prescribed to lie in a zone of fixed or variable radius of the grinding wheel or disk. This is achieved through at least one feed motion, in general a feed motion of the grinding wheel or disc, effected in addition to feed motions known per se in machining processes performed essentially according to the indexing generating method. This means that the machining contact point between the grinding wheel or disk and the gear blank does not wander on the grinding wheel or disk in correspondence with the generating feed motions but can be confined to a predeterminate region.

  • Patent number: 4650378
Abstract: Gear teeth of the gear being worked are machined by rotating the gear with a gear-type machining tool moved radially into tangential contact with the gear being worked. The relative of rotation rates of the gear and the tool are determined by the number of gear teeth in both the gear and the tool. The tooth width of the gear-type machining tool, which may be a worm gear, is less than the finished measurement of the tooth space of the gear being worked. When the gear-type tool reaches the prescribed manufacturing center distance, it is contiguous with the gear from one frontal face to the other. Two flanks of the gear are machined by feeding either the gear or tool in a direction perpendicular to the radial direction of movement so that the teeth of the tool can machine the gear tooth flanks as the gear and the tool rotate. First one flank of each tooth of the gear may be machined and then, by reversing the movement direction, the other flank of the tooth is machined.
