  • Patent number: 8777696
Abstract: A relative movement trajectory of each convex tooth pin of a mating gear with respect to a concave-convex gear at the time when torque is transmitted between the mating gear and the concave-convex gear (nutation gear) may be expressed by a first linear axis, a second linear axis, a third linear axis, a fourth rotation axis, a fifth rotation axis and a sixth indexing axis. Then, a relative movement trajectory of each convex tooth pin of the mating gear, expressed by the first linear axis, the second linear axis, the third linear axis, the fifth rotation axis and the sixth indexing axis in the case where the fourth rotation axis is brought into coincidence with the sixth indexing axis, is calculated, and at least one of a disc-shaped workpiece and a working tool is moved on the basis of the calculated relative movement trajectory.

  • Patent number: 6568884
Abstract: A device aids the setter of a cutter head for cutting, e.g., milling or hobbing, of spiral bevel gears to align all rod-shaped blades with their tip cutting edges to an axial height which is as uniform as possible and to move them with their profile cutting edges to a correct radial position in the cutter head so that uniform chip removal can take place. The device has a stable arm which can be moved numerically controlled axially and radially to the cutter head, with positions which are continuously measured and with which each individual blade can be automatically pushed into its chamber in the cutter head. A probe which is connected to the arm measures the axial height of the tip cutting edge of each blade before, during and shortly after each blade is pushed in.

  • Publication number: 20030002943
Abstract: Method and device for determining contact between a tool and a workpiece clamped on a processing machine. A signal, such as a high-frequency electrical current signal or an acoustic signal, is supplied between a location at the tool and a location at the workpiece. For as long as the tool and the workpiece are not in contact with each other, the signal has a specific amplitude. As soon as the tool and the workpiece make contact with each other, the two locations are additionally connected through a resistor connected parallel to the resistance of the machine. Thereby the amplitude changes significantly. The process can be performed manually and automatically. It can also be employed at a quasi-standstill of tool and/or workpiece, but also when the elements are moving.
