  • Patent number: 7137940
Abstract: Machining is possible in such a manner that an optional position of a workpiece is positioned just under a tool by rotation of a turn table in a C-axis direction, movement of the turn table in a Y-axis direction, and movement of a spindle in a Z-axis direction, so that a width of a main unit in a X-axis direction can be made shorter in comparison with machining by moving the turn table in the X-axis direction. Besides, the turn table located on a front side of the main unit, an ATC located on the rear side thereof, and a separated control panel located on the rear side of the ATC, independent from the main unit can also make the width of a machining center in the X-axis direction shorter.

  • Patent number: 7131800
Abstract: A circuit board router (10) and method thereof. De-paneling of printed circuit boards (62) off a panel 860) is efficiently increased by a router (40) which is positioned at a location above the panel (60). A fixture positions the panel 860) below the router (40) on a base (16). A controller (64) activates a first drive mechanism (20), a second drive mechanism (26), and a third drive mechanism (32) to guide an X-arm (18), a Y-arm (24) and a Z-arm (10), respectively. The router (40), located on the Z-arm (30), moves downward to engage a router bit (42) to the panel (60) to depanel the printed circuit board (62) from the panel. A fixture chip (72), which has a preprogrammed pattern of the panel (60), is embedded inside the fixture (58). A radio frequency transmitter (80) transmits the pattern to a radio frequency receiver (82) that relays the pattern to the controller (64).

  • Patent number: 7114895
Abstract: A spindle motor as a heating element and a spindle head having a spindle that is driven by the spindle motor are coupled to each other by a cooling flange. The cooling flange is provided with a cooling passage, the cross-sectional area of which gradually increases with distance from its gas inlet toward its gas outlet. When a high-pressure gas is injected into the cooling passage through the gas inlet, it is adiabatically expanded and cooled by the cooling passage having the gradually increasing cross-sectional area. Thus, the cooling flange restrains heat generated from the spindle motor from being transmitted to the spindle head.

Abstract: A machine tool for machining large-area workpieces. A column can be moved along one coordinate axis over a long bed. A machining unit, movable at the movable column along at least two other coordinate axes, has a pivotable working spindle. At least one approximately plate-like work carrier can be pivoted from a horizontal set-up position into a vertical machining position. A tripod configuration of the machining unit has a central support pipe and three telescopic legs spaced about 120° with respect to one another. The movable column has, in a central recess, a universal bearing supporting the central support pipe. In each of two lower and one upper recesses a universal bearing for the telescopic legs is provided. A retainer supporting the pivotable working spindle is positioned next to the work area on one end of the central support pipe and is rotatable about an axis of the central support pipe.

  • Patent number: 6749378
Abstract: A semi-contact guide apparatus includes a bed as a first member, a column as a second member, a plural number of oil-hold portions and an oil-supply device. The column is movably guided on the bed. A sliding surface is formed on the column. The plural number of oil-hold portions is formed on the sliding surface. Dimensions of the oil-hold portions are defined according to load distribution of the weight of the column. The oil-supply device supplies lubricant oil to the oil-hold portions. The amount of lubricant oil supplied to the oil-hold portion is defined according to each of dimensions of the oil-hold portions. Since the dimensions such as areas of the oil-hold portions and the amount of the lubricant oil supplied to the oil-hold portion are defined as above, inclination of the column on the bed is prevented, and the column can be smoothly moved on the bed.

Abstract: The present invention is related to micro-motion machine and micro-element fabricating machine using a 3-degree-of-freedom parallel mechanism. A micro-motion machine achieves a 3-degree-of-freedom micro movement by connecting two arms connected to prismatic flexible joints respectively, adapted to conduct vertical movements, by revolute flexible joints, and one arm connected to another prismatic flexible joint, adapted to conduct vertical movements by universal joint, to a platform by universal joint. This micro-motion machine has a relatively simple and inexpensive construction, high stiffness, and high accuracy, while exhibiting reduced inertia.

  • Patent number: 6719503
Abstract: With high speed machine tools, there is a desire to dampen vibrations and to retain the damper mass in proper position. The present invention relates to a tuned damped absorber support providing simultaneous energy dissipation in both horizontal and vertical directions which also provides for proper mass position retention. The tuned damped absorber assembly is attached directly or indirectly to a machine component requiring damping. Both single damper mass and double damper mass configurations are shown. With a double damper mass, the system can be tuned to two different frequencies. Therefore, the double damper mass provides for optimization in both a vertical and a horizontal direction.

Abstract: The invention concerns a very high-speed machining machine-tool (M) consisting of a parallel structure including link bars (100) whereof one first end (110) is linked to a mobile member (200) supporting at least a tool and whereof the second end (120) is linked to at least means (300) setting it in motion relative to a frame (B). The said machine-tool is characterized in that the linkages (400) to the ends (100 [sic, should be 110.—Translation Editor) and 120) of the said bars (100) consist in an association of fictitious pivots (410, 420, 430) so as to form a joint whereof the degrees of freedom enable the parallel structure to be set in motion. The said feature enables to avoid all drawbacks related to ball linkages. The invention is applicable to high-speed machining.
