  • Patent number: 10421386
Abstract: A strap assembly device is used to maintain engagement between the strap and the strap anchor point. The strap assembly device works by creating a loop to prevent the fastening hook on the strap from slipping. The strap assembly device is looped through a strap anchor point and the fastening hook is engaged to the anchor point. A portion of the strap extends beyond the fastening hook through the anchor point. The strap creates a loop by using a fastening system. The fastening system is generated by a male and female portion being joined. Either the male or female portion of the fastening system is located on the medial portion of the strap (portion before the hook). The other portion of the fastening system, male or female, is located on the lateral portion of the strap (portion extending beyond the hook). Once the fastening hook is engaged with the strap anchor point on the vehicle, the male and female portions of the fastening systems are joined.

  • Patent number: 7004694
Abstract: The conventional linear drive apparatus has the problem that in constructing a linear motor of a multiphase structure by connecting a plurality of armature units, the length of the armature becomes longer in proportion to the number of the phases, thus limiting the locations where the apparatus can be installed. The problem is solved by a linear drive apparatus comprising a plurality of armature units 3 formed by a magnetic material on which a conductor coil 4 is disposed, and an armature comprising an arrangement of the armature units 3. The armature units 3 comprise a plurality of opposing portions having opposing magnetic pole teeth. The magnetic pole teeth of adjacent opposing portions are arranged in an interdigitated manner. A secondary member 6 is disposed between magnetic pole teeth of the opposing portions. The armature units 3 comprise the coil 4 arranged on opposite sides thereof in an alternating manner.

  • Patent number: 6960053
Abstract: A manually operated winch system secures cargo to a transport vehicle. The winch system has a shaft rotationally mounted relative a frame. A ratchet drive mechanism controls rotation of the shaft. A handle received in the drive mechanism can be used both to control rotation of the shaft and to control operation of a pawl. The drive mechanism is configured such that tilting the handle moves a member axially. Sufficient axial movement of the member causes the pawl to disengage mating ratchet teeth and thereby allows the shaft to rotate freely.

  • Patent number: 6899497
Abstract: The invention is an apparatus for securing a mobility aid to the interior of a motor vehicle, such as a bus. The invention includes one or more retractors typically positioned forward of the mobility aid, and one or more retractors typically positioned behind the mobility aid. Some or all of the retractors are provided with a powered tension apparatus for providing opposed tension to the front and rear of the mobility aid, securing it from movement in the vehicle. The tensioning system is capable of being remotely controlled, enabling the securement and release of the mobility aid to be performed easily by either the mobility aid occupant or an operator in the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6776564
Abstract: A wheelchair restraint has four primary components: a base assembly, two pivot members or arms, hinges and belt assemblies. The base assembly is used to mount the restraint to a vehicle. The arms are connected to the base assembly and each retain a belt assembly via a respective hinge. The arms pivot from a horizontal operating position about a horizontal axes to a vertical storage position. The vehicle restraint allows an operator to quickly and easily secure or release a passenger in a wheelchair, while maintaining the integrity of the straps/belts and prolonging strap/belt life by storing the straps/belts out of the range of the elements that would otherwise deteriorate them. In the storage position, the area can be used by other passengers not requiring securement and remain out of the way during wheelchair ingress and egress.
