Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses for controlling objects being loaded or unloaded from a storage structure or vehicle, such as a trailer. In example embodiments, a plurality of parcels may be stored in or on a trailer that is attached to a cab of a delivery vehicle. Upon arrival at a deposit location, the trailer loaded with the one or more parcels may be removably secured to a an adjustable platform designed to be raised to a predetermined angle for unloading of the one or more parcels. Once the adjustable platform is raised to the predetermined angle, a plurality of adjustable dividing mechanisms may be configured to pivot, allowing for the movement of a controlled volume of the one or more parcels onto the receiving platform.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a removable gate for defining storage areas in a transport trailer. The removable gate includes a first elongated housing, a second elongated housing and a pair of supports. Each elongated housing carries a pair of outwardly biased retractable members. When in the extended position the retractable members engage supports thereby securing the gate in a desired position. Retracting the members permits removal and repositioning of the gate. The removable gate is pivotal about the first elongated housing upon retraction of the second pair of retractable members, and pivotal about the second elongated housing upon retraction of the first pair of retractable members.

Abstract: A bulkhead for dividing a cargo container into separate compartments. The bulkhead has a first side facing a first compartment and a second side facing the second compartment. One or more bars are attached to the first side of the bulkhead. In one aspect, mounting brackets having a vertically aligned elliptical opening permits the fastening bar to have some play to better operate during instances of rough transportation.

Abstract: A truck bed cargo barrier for use with a truck bed for stabilizing cargo items longitudinally and laterally. The cargo barrier is slidable relative to the front and back of the truck bed along a track system. The cargo barrier may be locked in a user specified position along the track system to accommodate the size of the load being carried forming a divider, or may be flipped up into a temporary storage position for linear cargo exceeding the length of the bed. Tie down brackets for bungee cords are adjustably attached to the barrier frame to secure cargo laterally. A barrier panel is connected to laterally adjustable, rigid side plates, each including two spaced apart wheels that ride on a pair of longitudinal tracks on the side walls of the truck bed. The spaced apart wheels firmly secure the barrier panel in a vertical position. A manual actuator permits manual positioning of the barrier panel along the bed frame front to back.

Abstract: A cargo area structure for a pickup truck has a bottom, interior side walls, and at least one interior end wall. The interior side walls and the end wall have a top edge and a bottom edge, with the bottom edge being attached to the bottom of the cargo area structure. At least one transverse divider has a first end and a second end and extends between the side walls with the first end adjacent to one of the side walls and the second end adjacent to the other side wall. Each of the side walls is generally planar and has a plurality of generally parallel vertically extending protrusions integrally formed on each of the side walls. The protrusions extend inwardly from the plane of the side wall and are spaced apart along the side wall so as to define mounting slots between the protrusions for mounting the divider between the side walls.

Abstract: A retractable cargo cover arrangement (10) for the interior of the cargo hold (200) of a freight carrier wherein the cover arrangement (10) includes a generally elongated rectangular cover member (20) fabricated from a sheet of waterproof material (21) and having an upper end affixed to, and wrapped around, a spring loaded retraction cylinder (22) and a lower end affixed to an elongated dowel (24) in a window shade fashion; wherein, the arrangement further includes a first pair of brackets (30), (40) for suspending the upper portion of the cover member (20) in the upper portion of the cargo hold (200) and a second pair of brackets (60) (70) for releasably engaging the lower portion of the cover member (20) in the lower portion of the cargo hold (200) to prevent water damage to the cargo (100) contained within the cargo hold (200).

Abstract: A bulkhead for use with cargo containers that carry dry flowable cargo. The bulkhead has flaps on the bottom edge and on both side edges. When the bulkhead is installed in a container, the flap on the bottom folds against the floor of the container to form a seal. The side flaps also fold against the sides of the container to form seals. The seals prevent the dry flowable cargo, when loaded in the container, from leaking out of the container. This eliminates the need for a liner in the container to hold the cargo.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cargo space divider wherein a system of dividing walls allow a cargo space, preferably a pick-up truck bed, to be sectioned off into smaller, variably sized sections in order to prevent objects transported therein from rolling or sliding about the bed. The device consists of a pair of support rails that are installed along and clamped to the sidewalls of the truck bed above the wheel wells. Lateral sectioning walls span the width of the truck bed and longitudinal sectioning walls span between the lateral sectioning walls, both in adjustable positions, thus creating divided cargo spaces that are adjustable both in number and size.

Abstract: Apparatus for securing cargo in the cargo compartment of vehicles is disclosed including a retracting device mounted in the cargo compartment, a flexible band retractably attached to the retracting device so that it can be withdrawn and retracted thereinto, an elongated bar fixed to the flexible band, and at least one recess disposed in the cargo compartment so that the elongated bar can be releasably locked in the recess for securing the cargo with the flexible band in the cargo compartment.

Abstract: A cargo load dividing apparatus utilizing a pivotal gate which pivots from the side of the vehicle to extend generally transversely into a cargo area. The gate is lockable into the transverse position by engaging a gate locking assembly with the floor of the vehicle. Embodiments include those having metallic, cushioned and airbag surfaces adjacent the cargo. Systems in using plurality of gates on a single vehicle can use one or more gates extending partially along with width of the vehicle. Gates may be pivoted into a locked transversed position or be pivoted into a position adjacent the side wall of the vehicle.

Abstract: A motor-vehicle has a storage compartment defined by a floor, walls, and a seat of the vehicle and provided with a cargo restraint system having an upright main rod and a mount holding the rod in the compartment for rotation about an upright main axis and including a retractor for rotationally urging the rod in one direction and for inhibiting rotation of the rod in the opposite direction under predetermined circumstances. An elongate flexible web has an inner end attached to the rod and an outer end and an outer rod fixed to the outer end of the web has a lower end engageable in any seat of an array of seats spaced from each other on the floor that releasably secure the outer rod to the floor at the respective seat in an upright position.

Abstract: A new gate attachment for mounting to the side walls of a load bed of a vehicle. The inventive device includes an elongate upper cross bar and an elongate lower cross bar spaced apart from the upper cross bar. A plurality of spaced apart elongate ribs are extended between the upper and lower cross bars. A pair of insertion arms are extended from the upper cross bar. Each of the insertion arms has a lower terminal end which are adapted for insertion into a post hole of side wall of load bed of a vehicle.

Abstract: A convertible cargo holding device positioned in the bed of a pick-up truck, the bed having a floor, a left side panel, a right side panel, and a front panel comprising in combination: a base gate; a secondary gate hinged upon the base gate; a removable rear base gate hinge attached to left side panel and rotatably attached to the base gate; a removable forward base gate hinge attached to the left side panel and rotatably attached to the base gate; a transverse base gate hinge attached to the right side panel and rotatably attached to the base gate, the transverse base gate hinge adapted to receive the removable forward base gate hinge; a removable support attached to the left side panel and to both the base gate and to the secondary gate. The elements of the cargo holding device can be rotated about its hinged elements to form a container, a low barrier and a high barrier for containing cargo within the bed.

Abstract: A motor vehicle having a passenger compartment provided with pair of passenger seats and a luggage compartment behind the seats and having a floor has a cargo-restraining apparatus provided with a support defining a horizontal pivot axis at the floor in the luggage compartment immediately behind the seats. A rigid panel has an inner edge pivoted at the pivot axis on the support and an outer edge and has oppositely directed faces extending between the edges. The panel is movable between an erect position in which it is substantially vertical with its outer edge level with upper ends of the seats and a recumbent position lying on the floor with one of its faces directed upward and forming a cargo-support surface in the luggage compartment. An elongated housing on the panel normally contains a flexible retaining sheet that is extensible from the housing to restrain cargo in the luggage compartment.

Abstract: An unloading apparatus for use with a cargo container. The unloading apparatus having a supporting frame with a mandrel rotatably supported by the supporting frame and laterally extending across the frame. The unloading apparatus having devices to detachably connect it to the rear of the container. A liner disposed on the floor of the container with devices to connect the liner to the unloading apparatus when the unloading apparatus is connected to the back of the container. The liner in some uses has rolled or pleated sections which unfold or unroll as the liner is pulled out of the container and winds onto the mandrel. As the liner winds onto the mandrel, the cargo contained on top of the liner falls out the back and into a collection device such as a bin located at the rear of the container.

Abstract: The disclosed invention is an apparatus for partitioning a storage space such as the load space of a goods vehicle having a frame which defines an opening through which the storage space is accessible, and at least one partition movable within the load space to define at least two compartments of desired relative size in the storage space. Both compartments are accessible through the opening, on either side of the partition. Expandable closure elements, typically in the form of collapsible trellis-type doors, are movable to close the opening, and be locked to each other or to the partition, so that access can be gained to either compartment, while the other remains secure. The expandable closure elements and the partition move on respective sets of tracks. A version of the invention is also disclosed in which movable partition elements in a storage space are provided with expandable closures, allowing access through the partitions.

Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for supporting oversized freight above the tailgate of a pickup truck, while affording normal utilization of the tailgate. In the preferred embodiment, the invention comprises two brackets that sit upon opposing rear edges of side walls of a pickup truck bed, near the tailgatae. A support beam passes through an opening in one bracket and is received in a slot in the opposing bracket. Ends of the support beam lie within each bracket and are held by securing rods passing through the brackets and beam ends. The bracket with the opening has a pivotable cap covering the opening to afford rapid deployment of the support beam. The cap is on the side of the bracket facing away from the opposing bracket. To deploy the beam, the operator simply pivots open the cap, slides the beam through the opening until one end lies in each bracket and then closes the cap and inserts a securing rod through each bracket and beam end.

Abstract: There is provided an improved trailer and tailgate therefore. The means for attaching the tailgate to the remainder of the trailer is independent of the inside surfaces of the sidewalls of the trailer. Thus the sidewalls are free from obstructions permitting a free flow of material out of a trailer when it is being dumped. A pair of cane shaped rods are received through the top and bottom of the tailgate and are connected to the floor and to the tops of the sidewalls of the trailer.

Abstract: An extendible and contractible bulkhead for a trailer is provided to accommodate high density loads and low density loads requiring more storage space. The bulkhead includes a plurality of spaced diagonal braces for receiving load forces and for transmitting them to the main structure of the trailer.

Abstract: A garment hanger bar for the trailer transportation of garments includes a tubular member having swing bars comprising rings rotatably mounted on the tubular member and an elongate rod joining the rings and spaced from the tubular member for the locking of a plurality of garment hangers thereon to prevent their removal during transportation. The tubular member has mounting elements which project into and are secured in vertical slots with a release bolt extending into the slot at one end. Upon retraction of the release bolt, the mounting member at that end may be removed from the slot, and the hanger bar thereby released from its mounting. In another embodiment, a heavy duty support bar of rectangular cross section is provided for supporting pallets. Pairs of mounting elements are provided at each end of the support bar.

Abstract: A barge-carrying vessel of the flotation loading and unloading type. Each barge-stowage hold has parallel, vertical side walls that are only slightly further apart from each other than the width of the barges to be stowed. The barges are held down against the bottom of the hold, enabling transfer of buoyancy from the barges to the vessel when the hold is flooded. For this purpose, a series of guides is secured to one side wall of the hold, each guide comprising a pair of parallel vertical tracks. In between each pair of tracks is a wedge having a sloping outer face for engagement with a barge in a wedging manner to force this barge against the opposite side wall. The wedges are raised and lowered as needed, and are positively secured in place in their barge-hold down position.

Abstract: A locking arrangement for a bulkhead door in a freight transport vehicle in which locking plates are selectively positioned along tracks on each side of the vehicle floor, and are engaged by locking pins in the bulkhead door. A locking track is mounted in the transport vehicle floor along each side thereof, and extends along a substantial portion of the length of the vehicle. Each track consists of an elongated, rectangularly-shaped steel plate positioned to extend along a longitudinal side of the vehicle, and has a number of vertically-extending holes formed therein and spaced along its length. Each locking plate has a relatively short length in comparison to a locking track, and has several posts extending vertically downwardly from its bottom to engage the holes in a locking track.
