  • Patent number: 6283690
Abstract: An electrical box locating device is formed from a single piece of metallic material. The locating device has a forwardly extending fastening portion which is functionally adapted to be received within a threaded receptacle mounting hole of a typical electrical box. Rearwardly of the fastening portion is a drive portion which allows the device to be driven into the mounting hole and securely held within it. Rearwardly of the drive portion of the device is a drywall penetrating portion which extends outwardly of the electrical box and which is functionally adapted to penetrate and extend through a sheet of drywall when such is placed over the electrical box. The fastening portion, the drive portion and the penetrating portion of the device are made from a single piece of material and integrally formed in the preferred embodiment of the invention.

Abstract: An arrangement for fastening of an assembly part on a carrier part includes at least one fastening screw, a sleeve, and a flexible assembly ring whose inner diameter is smaller than an outer diameter of a sleeve head flange and foot flange and which is arranged between the head flange and foot flange on the sleeve. The assembly part includes a through-bore in the assembly part whose inner diameter is at lest as large as the outer diameter of the foot flange, into which the sleeve is inserted. The lower side of the head flange is indirectly or directly supported on the upper edge region of the through-bore. The inner diameter of the through-bore is dimensioned such that the assembly ring is radially pressed together therein and by way of this clamped in and/or the through-bore comprises an undercut with an inner diameter so that the assembly ring under radial compression and subsequent expansion is pushed through the undercut and by which the assembly ring is retained in the through-bore.

  • Patent number: 5823727
Abstract: An anchor fitting assembly for securing objects on an elongated track. The track is of the type commonly used in aircraft and in various vehicles to secure seats, wheelchairs, cargo and other objects. The track has an elongated groove which has a bell-shaped profile. The top of the groove is open and has a series of opposed tabs and semicircular faces. There are many styles of fittings which are placed in such tracks and secured to the tracks. The anchor fitting assembly of the present invention has a securable fitting which has a flared based held beneath the opposed tabs of the groove. The fitting is prevented from sliding along the track by a pair of buttons which are inserted downwardly into two opposed semicircular openings adjacent the securable fitting. When an object is screwed onto the securable fitting it holds down the buttons preventing them from coming out of the semicircular openings.

  • Patent number: 5762456
Abstract: A self-tapping, blind setting bolt rivet assembly capable of permanently fastening one or more sheet metal work pieces or the like together while also providing a hollow cylindrical threaded bolt head onto which a nut may be affixed to a means to removably attach other work pieces, components or the like. The rivet assembly comprises a rivet body having a hollow tubular sleeve and a threaded stud separated by an enlarged flattened head. The rivet body surrounds a mandrel comprising a shank which is terminated in a screw tip. This screw tip punctures, spreads, and self-taps an aperture in the work pieces through which the rivet sleeve passes. The mandrel's shank may have a weakened area of reduced diameter adjacent to the screw tip which allows detachment of shaft following application of sufficient axial force to the shank. This application of force sets the rivet by causing a tapered shoulder section of the mandrel to deform the rivet sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5743691
Abstract: A novel clinch-type fastener member is engaged through first and second workpieces to form a mechanically locked joint which is highly resistant to vibrational loosening. The fastener member has a first portion and a second portion defined by a shank portion which extends therefrom. The first portion has a protuberance, formed from a ring, thereon which extends outwardly therefrom. The shank portion has a projection, formed from a ring, spaced a predetermined distance from the first portion to define a retaining groove. To engage the fastener member with the workpieces, the fastener member is rotated into engagement therewith. The protuberance on the first portion engages a top surface of the first workpiece and rotational and compressive forces are applied to the fastener member thereby causing the protuberance to deform the first workpiece material to cause the material to flow into the retaining groove provided of the fastener member.

  • Patent number: 5741101
Abstract: A fastener for attaching a first object to the outside of a second object having a hole and a normally inaccessible inner surface. The fastener generally comprises a head portion, a resilient washer disposed in a stepped or double recess in the head portion, and a fastening section connected to the head portion. The resilient washer has a maximum diameter that is substantially larger than the hole, and a contoured or tapered outer surface adapted to engage, be compressed in, and slide through the hole in only one direction. When the fastener is pressed through the hole and the head portion emerges on the other side, the resilient washer springs back to its decompressed size and securely retains the fastener in the second object. Additionally, the washer has a flange that helps retain the washer in the head portion and acts to evenly distribute on the washer any forces exerted to remove a fully inserted fastener.

  • Patent number: 5709513
Abstract: An improved mounting structure includes a soft mounting sleeve having a locking hole at a central position for fitting into a through hole of a mount, and a screw fitted with a washer. In assembly, the screw is inserted into the mounting sleeve fitted into the mount before driven into a frame structure. When the screw is driven into the top side of the mount, the bottom side of the mounting sleeve will elevate with the turning of the screw to impose a pressure on the screw threads, thus preventing the screw from being driven further and achieving a good mounting effect. This arrangement also prevents the screw from driving unduly deep into the frame structure due to excessive torsional force to prevent any possible damage to the frame structure or the screw threads.
