Member Comprises A Longitudinal Key Patents (Class 411/110)
  • Patent number: 11149470
Abstract: A key holder designed for use with manual key switches affixes a key onto a control box. The key holder includes a rotor housing, a key rotor, and a threaded opening. The key is mounted into the key rotor before being inserted into the control box. Further, the key rotor is rotatably mounted into the rotor housing via the threaded opening. The key rotor includes an interior face, an exterior face, a threaded body, and a key slot. The interior face and exterior face are positioned opposite each other about the threaded body. The key slot traverses through the threaded body. To connect the key rotor to the rotor housing, the threaded body is screwed into the threaded opening. This transforms the rotational motion into the linear motion of the key rotor, which along with the locking feature of the manual key switch, prevents the key from rotating.

Abstract: A cage nut assembly includes a nut and a cage wrapped therearound. The nut and/or the cage are provided with a number of stand-offs. The stand-offs reduce the amount of bearing surface interface between the cage and the nut thus reducing the possibility that the two parts will stick to each other after a bath is applied to the mating surface, and thus to the cage nut assembly, as the cage is welded to the mating surface. The stand-offs can be configured such that the cage nut assembly can move through the bath in a horizontal position, an upside down position, or a sideways position, substantially without the cage and nut sticking to one another.

Abstract: The present invention is a self-broaching key for locking a fastener assembly in a relatively hard carrier material and a method for making such a key. A unique cutting surface (40) is provided with a particular angular orientation relative to the thread form of the carrier passage threads, and includes a curvilinear portion (42) immediately adjacent the tang portion (32). As the key (30) is installed for locking engagement, the cutting surface (40,42) displaces carrier material in a manner which directs the displaced material away from the cutting surface (40) as the key (30) advances into the carrier material. Also provided on the tang portion (32) is a curvilinear surface (46) which further assists in directing the displaced material away from the cutting surface (40). Two pairs of arcuate extensions (47a, 47b and 48a, 48b) are located on the tang portion (32) to temporarily but reliably secure the key (30) in a key slot with a minimum of frictional engagement between the key and the walls of the key slot.
