The threaded surfaces have threads that are threaded in opposite directions. The threaded insert includes a bushing portion having male threads on the external surface and female threads within an internal bore. The threaded insert also includes keys which lock the threaded insert into a threaded hole within the parent material. The keys are positioned within slots along the external surface of the bushing portion of the threaded insert. The slots include two substantially parallel walls which are substantially perpendicular to a bottom surface of the slots. A method for assembling the threaded insert reduces the tendency of the keys to be installed offset from the bottom surface of the slots.

Abstract: A Furniture Leg Extension and Leveling Device and Method for Use is disclosed. The device enables the user to adjust the height of a piece of furniture, such as a bathroom vanity cabinet. The device and method involves adding an extension member to each of the legs of the cabinet. The device attaches with a single custom bolt that threads into a threaded insert that is screwed into a bore cut into the bottom of the legs. The device further includes a leveling foot for accomplishing fine adjustment to leg height to account for minute floor surface irregularities. The custom bolt used for attaching the extension member has a threaded post at one end and a threaded bore formed at its other end.

Abstract: A connector includes: a first connector body having a plurality of first lead terminals soldered onto a first wiring board; a second connector body having a plurality of second lead terminals soldered onto a second wiring board; a screw member; and a fastening member engageable to the screw member. The first connector body and the second connector body are engaged with each other to bring the first lead terminals and the second lead terminals into contact such that the first lead terminals and the second terminals electrically connect the first wiring board to the second wiring board. The first and second wiring boards and the first and second connector bodies are integrally fastened together by engaging the screw member to the fastening member.

  • Patent number: 7025552
Abstract: An assembly for automatically compensating variations of the spacing between first and second structural members due to manufacturing and/or mounting tolerances. The assembly comprises a mounting bolt, a base element, and an adjustment sleeve. The adjustment sleeve has a drive portion adapted to be engaged with the nut by frictional drag and rotatable relative to said mounting bolt when said frictional drag has been overcome. The drive portion comprises an internal annular plastic portion which projects from the wall of the adjustment sleeve radially outwards sufficiently so as to frictionally engage the threads of the mounting bolt to provide for said frictional drag.

  • Patent number: 6905298
Abstract: A nut assembly is disclosed that will ensure that the shank of a bolt that features a measurable grip length will pass through the contact plane of adjoining members. The nut assembly also allows the desired compressive force in the adjoining members to be attained by using a telescopic feature of the nut to allocate additional thread action for the bolt, enabling the bolt to be drawn into the nut further than what would be allowed by a standard nut. The adaptability of the nut assembly can eliminate the need for washers or shims to adjust the shank penetration of the bolt. The nut assembly is useful for application in which the specified thread length and the grip length of the bolt is incompatable with the abutment thickness of the adjoining members.

  • Patent number: 6884014
Abstract: The invention comprises a tolerance compensating mounting device comprising a bushing having an internal and external thread. The bushing is threaded into a part to be mounted to a surface. A bolt is then threaded into a bushing bore using the internal threads. The internal threads cause an interference fit between the bolt shank and the threads, temporarily preventing further insertion of the bolt. The bolt is then turned further, thereby turning the bushing and causing the bushing to unscrew from the part toward the mounting surface until the bushing seats on the mounting surface, thereby completely compensating for a tolerance gap. As the bolt is turned further, at a relatively low torque the sacrificial internal threads are stripped allowing the bolt to be fully torqued into the mounting surface hole, thereby simultaneously connecting the components with a properly torqued connection while compensating for a tolerance gap.
