Comprising An Elongated Element Divided Longitudinally (e.g., A Cotter Pin) Patents (Class 411/213)
  • Patent number: 11137015
Abstract: A combination positive locking and prevailing torque fastener system including a fastener nut, a helical wire insert, a nut cap, and a shaft. The nut cap is longitudinally movable from an engaged position to a disengaged position such that in the engaged position the fastener nut and the nut cap are rotationally locked, and in the disengaged position the nut cap rotates independent of the fastener nut.

  • Patent number: 10265108
Abstract: A bone plate is formed with a throughgoing hole formed with a radially inwardly open outer groove. A screw fastener has a shaft engageable coaxially through the hole and a head of larger diameter than the shaft and adapted to bear axially on the plate around the hole. The shaft is formed offset from the head with a radially outwardly projecting ridge defining a radially outwardly open inner groove aligned radially with the outer groove when the fastener is fitted through the hole with the head bearing on the plate. An elastically deformable ring of a diameter generally equal to that of the hole at the outer groove is formed with at least one radially inwardly directed projection that, when the ring is fitted to the outer groove and the fastener is seated in the hole, projects radially inward into the inner groove of the fastener.

  • Publication number: 20080038081
Abstract: A linch pin for retaining a hitch pin in engagement. The linch pin has a top portion with primary retaining member; a body portion connected to the primary retaining member and having a distal bottom portion wherein the distal bottom portion has a means for engaging a secondary retaining member to prevent the linch pin from inadvertently disengaging from the hitch pin.

  • Patent number: 5120170
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved system (30) for maintaining the position of a castellated nut (34) on a spindle (31) having an axial bore (33) therethrough. The improved system (30) utilizes chordal bore (36) passing through the spindle (31). After the castellated nut (34) is positioned on the spindle (31) a cotter pin (37) is placed within chordal bore (36). The cotter pin (37) is of sufficient length such that both ends (38, 39) thereof extend from the drilled spindle and engage the slots (35) of the castellated nut (34). Thus, the cotter pin (37) prevents rotation of castellated nut (34) maintaining the proper position thereof.

  • Patent number: 4297063
Abstract: A self-retaining safety bolt assembly having a headed end, a cylindrical shank, and a pin tail nut with a tubular shank telescoping over the cylindrical shank with means near the headed end to retain the tubular shank on the cylindrical shank in a hole in a workpiece. An axial passage opening into the headed end intercepts a laterally-extending passage wherein a dog is laterally reciprocable so as to be extendable beyond a maximum diameter of the cylindrical shank or to be entirely retracted within it. A cam member having a pair of oppositely facing cam surfaces is axially slidable in the axial passage. The dog has a pair of followers, one on each side, bearing against the oppositely directed cam surfaces whereby the lateral position of the dog is uniquely a function of the axial position of the cam member.
